Father's day stuff under here )

He's pensive when he leaves the holodeck, and a little worn out (though that could be because there are two two-week-old babies back in the quarters he shares with Emma). He's got more he wants to think about, and it doesn't matter to him where it happens. He goes back to the room to check on Emma, and while he's there he decides to let her get some rest. He bundles the babies into their carriers, straps them on, and sets out for the public parts of the ship.

He finds himself standing by a window, staring out at the darkness beyond. The babies are dozing in their carriers, nestled against him. “Do you see all of those stars out there? Of course you don't, you're asleep. You'll see what I mean one day. One day you'll know learn how to navigate using the stars. There's so much to show you. Like the rest of the ship. It's your home. Would you like a tour?”

It's not like they're going to tell him no.

[ooc: due to a family emergency with Emma Swan's player, this plot has been extended to March 15th & 16th in real time so that those getting involved with the turbolift malfunctions and power outages have plenty of time to post their own logs for the event. The date all of this happens IC remains March 15th, and as always backdating is love. Thanks everyone! If you need more info the plot announcement is right over here!]

There have been unusual readings from the bridge. Small irregularities in the ship's operations, nothing terribly out of the ordinary — and certainly nothing quite so alarming as Q has brought to the ship ever since he has made his stay permanent — but enough to warrant inspection. Mr. La Forge has been running diagnostics all morning, and a dedicated team of engineers has likewise been looking into the fluctuations.

The Captain is on his way to personally receive an update on their progress, leaving the bridge in Commander Riker's very capable hands. He could just as easily be apprised of the situation over the comms, but occasionally he appreciates seeing things for himself.

(And perhaps, too, he gets bored with the command chair every so often.)

Entering a turbolift from Deck 10, he puts in the command to be taken to Main Engineering on Deck 34. There are others in the lift with him — the woman he has come to know as Ms. Swan is treated to a polite smile and nod. Her pregnancy is well along now, and he opens his mouth to make some grasped-for inquiry into the health of the child she is carrying when the turbolift stutters. He barely has time to hold out a bracing hand to ensure she doesn't fall before the lights flicker and the whole cabin grinds to a rocky stop.

Throughout the ship, both simultaneously and with some delay, other turbolifts suffer the same malfunction.

[Ten Forward]
Kurt was late for class. He'd been distracted by a new music video by Lady Gaga and that had led to another five. It never failed. Anyway, so he had missed the first train to the city and had run from the second one to NYADA. Fortunately, he'd thought to put on his dance clothes and just brought his regular street clothes in a duffle bag. He yanked the door to the dance studio open and stepped through.

Then he just stopped and stared around him. What the hell? Instead of being in the studio, he was in some kind of strange bar with people in weird uniforms and.. seriously what the hell was that? He stared at an alien in disbelief. Looking behind him for the door to escape, he found himself in front of a set of large slanted window and just a blanket of dark space and stars beyond it.

Do you know what that sound is?

Do you?

That sound is the dulcet tones of Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes blaring into the hall from the open door leading into Room #0144, and if you don't know "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life", then this party is for you.

Since arriving on the Enterprise, John has noticed a few things. First, when a Klingon punches you, it hurts a hell of a lot more than it looks like it does on TV. Second, that people around here have a disturbing lack of knowledge when it comes to classic movies. And we're talking the classics, people.

John's one of the lucky few who's been roomed with a member of Starfleet personnel (and don't you feel lucky, Hugh?), which means he's got a pretty swanky room. It's a little bit bigger, with more space in the common room, and windows that look out onto space. In other words? It's a party room.

If you're walking anywhere in the vicinity tonight and the music doesn't catch your attention, maybe the string of colorful balloons outside the open door will. The sign hanging from them is crudely drawn, and simply says:

It felt like Henry had wandered the catacombs for weeks, though without daylight it was hard to tell. Managing to scrounge food and water from what little was available as well as taking in the vague sustenance he could conjure for him kept him alive. But he got very little sleep and his clothes were a mess.

When he finally found his way out, it was in a bright flash of light that caused him to screw up his eyes against it. He hadn't been in a place so bright in so long, it almost blinded him. His Keyblade had appeared automatically but upon not being attacked, he forced it back. At least he knew it was summon-able here.

Once his eyes had finally adjusted to the place he was now standing it, he looked around. He quickly realised he was not in Ruby City as he had been before finding himself in the catacombs. He'd been taken somewhere else again and he sighed deeply. As he turned, he found himself looking at a starry sky. No. Not a sky. He was looking at stars. He was in space.

Despite his dirty clothes being almost unrecognisable, he sat down on the bench by the window and looked out, wondering where he was now and if he'd ever get home. It was, of course, yet another adventure but he was once again without his family. He sighed again and spoke to no one in particular.

"Why me?"

Finnick hadn't intended to spend the afternoon in the lounge when he walked in. He'd been going to have lunch with Annie, but he'd just sat down when his clothes had, once again, changed. It had been a long time since that had last happened, but he'd remembered it.

Finnick had found his loose cotton shirt suddenly covered with a blue frock coat, and he'd sprung to his feet to smooth it down, examining the cut and the fabric.

In truth, it wasn't far from his normal style. He'd decided he kinda likes it, and the silk sash around his waist, too.

The hat was a little much, but he tilted it to a jaunty angle and lounged back in his seat, grinning.

Annie, though, had let out a dismayed little squeaking sound as she looked down at herself. A tight red and gold bodice, laced at the front, had appeared over her blouse, and her cheeks were flushing deep and hot at the way it accentuated her chest.

Finnick had no objections, but at the look on her face, he'd plucked the hat from his head and dropped it onto hers to make her smile. Annie likes hats.

It was only when they'd gotten their food that they discovered that there was now real rum to be had at the bar, and by the time the sea shanties started playing, Annie was already a little more giggly than usual.

At first Finnick doesn't recognize the words, but the second time the shanties start playing, he knows the tune, and he starts to sing along, to the version of the lyrics he knows: names changed, occasional words, phrases, whole lines different. The rhyme scheme, though, and the rhythm, they're the same: a halyard shanty is a halyard shanty.

Some of the shanties are even the same.

[ OOC note: Open to all for Finnick! Although Annie is floating around, she's not available for tagging because of mun availability, so feel free to assume you've caught him when she's off doing something else. This post was written with Annie-player's input and approval. ]

Option 1, the arboretum

Elizabeth is sitting in the hydroponic garden, trying to tune a guitar. She has a tuning fork, but it's not in use anymore because she's tuned that string already. Now she's trying to remember how to use the little dots on her frets to bring the rest into line. It would probably be easy to look up on the PADD but for now she's enjoying being alone with her thoughts and the intermittent twang of strings. Once she gets the hang of it the tuning goes quickly and she switches to using the guitar to lead herself in vocal warm ups. She sings loudly, unafraid of drawing an audience.

Option 2, Ten Forward

Later in the day Elizabeth is in the bar reading aloud to Anne. Anne is sleeping in her pram, which she's nearly outgrown. Elizabeth doesn't mind that her audience is sound asleep. She loves Walt Whitman. He has such imagery and a zest for life that she adores.

This poem has specific meaning for Elizabeth, though she isn't sure it's the best to read to a baby.

"My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead."

Private to Booker

After all the socializing Elizabeth was relieved when she got home. She put Anne on the floor by the replicator and started to make them both dinner, calling out to Booker as she worked. "Are you here? It's been a ridiculous day."

It's hard for him not to have anything to do around here, as unused to being idle as he is. He's been all the places in the ship that guests are allowed to go, and he's even been able to sneak into a few where guests aren't allowed to go (luckily without getting caught). He's familiar enough with the holodeck now, and has his ship programmed in nicely. He can't spend all of his time in there though, and as close to the real thing as it is, he still knows in the back of his mind that it's not real.

The one thing that bothers him more than not having anything to do is not knowing where he is. 'On board the Enterprise, somewhere in space' is not a good enough answer for him. The way he usually can get his bearings is with a sextant and a map and compass and, at night, the stars. He only has one of those things, and he knows that these stars and constellations are ones he doesn't know, but he's curious anyway, and if he can only manage to make a star chart, at least he'd have something to do.

He miraculously finds a limited supply of paper and pens at one of the stalls in the concourse, and at another one, which prides itself on supplying what it calls 'ancient Earth artifacts,' he finds a sextant and compass which will work well enough for his purposes. Better than not having either, at least.

So with these things in hand, he finds himself a spot in the arboretum, which provides the best view of the sky outside, and starts meticulously recording the patterns of the stars.

Now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new passengers for ship-wide access comes a big day for them: the day they receive their official introduction to the Enterprise. It starts with a tour of the ship and some background to the situation, delivered by Chief O'Brien.

The tour covers the main areas of the ship, and a history of recent events, Q-inspired and otherwise.

Once the tour has wrapped up, it normally falls on Worf's shoulders to assign the new arrivals quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. They have been gathered together in Ten Forward, and are awaiting further instructions on how to proceed. Unfortunately, Worf is still unavailable, and so instead it falls on Lt. Junior Grade Baldwin’s shoulders to do so.

As he has done this before, Baldwin has a speech prepared:

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.

Looking down at the safety of his PADD, he says, "Room assignments are as follows," before reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

Deck 07, Section 4
Room # 0713 - Emma Swan and Killian Jones
Room # 0718 - Natasha Romanoff and Mary McGarrett
Room # 0719 - Alec Troven and DJ
Room # 0732 - Jonas Quinn and The Doctor
Room # 0752 - Trilby Elliot and Katherine Barlow
Room # 0753 - Carolyn Lam and Ashida Noriko
Room # 0762 - Sam Bowe and Merlin
Room # 0772 - Inari Raith and Rose Tyler
Room # 0773 - Samanosuke Akechi and Trever McCallum

Deck 8

Room # 0142 - James T. Kirk and Sam Wilson
Room # 0144 - Hugh Cambridge and John Crichton

Deck 9,
Room # 0914 - Ezri Dax and Steve Rogers
Room # 0917 - Rygel XVI and Ziva David
Room # 0923 - Todd the Wraith
Room # 0927 - Jacob Keyes and Tony Stark
Room # 0928 - Tex and Harry Dresden

"I will remain here to answer questions," Baldwin says, managing to keep the reluctance out of his voice. "And the rest of the Security team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.

[ooc: Open log for building CR with new roommates and meeting neighbors, "party post" style! Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is a post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions and find more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there. If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. The tour given by Chief O'Brien is not open for tagging; you can assume your character had any basic questions answered. ]

Prim had promised Killian that she wouldn't stop seeing her friends, and she hadn't seen him or Fatima or... well... almost anyone for a while now. She didn't want to go out. Didn't want to see people or deal with people. But she had promised.

She was still wearing her father's hunting jacket. She almost never took it off, since Katniss left. She was carrying a rather grumpy buttercup with her.

She headed for the lounge, figuring there would be people there. Maybe her friends. If not, well, at least she tried. Right?

She went back to that bench where she had first arrived, where she had been sitting when she had first found out that Katniss was here too. Tears slid down her face as she took a seat.

Some small part of her thought that she should eat, but it was easy enough to ignore. She'd been feeding Buttercup and Lady. But...

She could never be angry at their mother, the way Katniss was. At least, not anymore. Because.... now she understood.

[All over the ship. covers Multiple Days. Emma is not kiddified, but she is a curious creature.]

Emma was wandering.... again. It wasn't like she hadn't gotten used to place but rather she just liked to roam. She didn't like to be cooped up for too long, so she walked. Someone might find her in Ten-Forward, having coffee in the morning, and a drink and a bite to eat at night.

She also likes to roam the corridors and find out what trouble she can get into. She has also checked out the concourse on more than one occasion. The one thing she hadn't done, however was see the Bridge, but she was pretty sure that she wasn't allowed to do that.

Oh well.

Elizabeth wasn't sure what was going on when she woke up from her nap. She was shorter, for one thing, and her hands looked like a child's rather than an adults. Before she could look in the mirror she rushed out of her room, yelling for Booker. "What's going on! I'm short!"

Once Booker got her settled Elizabeth decided to go out and see if anyone else was effected. She was carrying Anne, even though the baby was much larger compared to her mother, now. Anne was eating, chowing down on a bottle of milk. Booker was good at feeding her, but with so much not going right Elizabeth felt safer having Anne close.

She looked around Ten Forward when she entered, hoping to see a friend or other confused children.

It's been a hell of a few weeks. Month? Little over? You know, he's not even really sure. Jim has had a hell of a time since getting here. His suddenly very much alive sort of girlfriend (ex?) being here, which he's cool with, but---wow he's already had that breakdown thanks. Admiral Pike is here---that breakdown is still forthcoming. Let's not even bring up the fight with Khan that ended with both of them brigged for a while. Then there was Q dicking around with everyone with his brand of practical jokes that had Jim letting Khan out of the brig of his own volition, and putting a few crewman into Sickbay. But he's gonna just pretend feelings aren't real things that you, you know, feel.

Spock would be proud, if it didn't mean his method of coping with his not!feelings were to find something to drink that isn't that synthehol crap.

So, he heads into the lounge, and over to the replicator. He's tapping away at the controls, trying to avoid speaking to it directly cause he doesn't want to announce what he's doing to the entire lounge. Kind of defeats the purpose of stealth. He gets an angry sounding noise from it when he tries something, raises a brow, and shakes his head.

"Okay, fine." They can do this hard way. Jim is totally okay with that. "You're gonna give me what I want, or I'm going to rewrite every subroutine you have."

[as promised: jim is hacking the replicator for real alcohol. feel free to help out by way of lookout or whatnot. gaila will be helping him out, so if you would like her to be involved when you tag in, just tag in on their top-level comment. from then the tagging order will go jim + gaila + your character = SHENANIGANS. if not, just tag in for jim, and we'll have ourselves some wacky fun. cool either way.

He's had some time to get settled in, and learn about his new surroundings. He's seen the lounge, and the arboretum, and the concourse. He spends most of his time in the lounge, of course, even if the drinks he can get there aren't real drinks. He spends his time there because that's where he meets people.

He has noticed the boredom starting to creep in though, and the effects of having to stay in one place all the time, and he's in need of something to fill his time. When he first arrived, he heard about a place where it was possible to recreate his ship, after a fashion. He's done some asking around, and has made his way to the holodeck.

Which is completely confusing to him. It's unlike anything he's ever encountered before, and he has no idea how he's supposed to make anything with this. Maybe he should have brought someone with him to show him how.

He steps back over to the door and opens it. Maybe there's someone in the hallway who can help him figure this out.

With recently-dyed hair braided back into a long, loose strip of mohawk down the middle of her scalp, Noriko is sitting at a table in the lounge, several things spread out in front of her. One is a small notebook, moleskine-style, on which she's squiggling out little dots in a way not entirely unfamiliar to anyone who's ever seen either old-world continental battle plans or football plays; the other two are a music player currently blasting the sounds of Vivaldi's Spring remixed with a synth bass into her ears, and a book she's halfway paying attention to reading.

It may seem improbable for one young woman to be paying attention to all of these at once, but if you understand Nori you know why, that being that she literally has so much energy coursing through her that otherwise she'd be flitting around like a bright blue blur, sparking and glowing and unable to contain herself not that she's not doing the last two right now anyway, sorry about that. And that goes for her brain too, not just her body; her thoughts are rapid-fire, too quick for most telepaths to keep up with even if they bother listening.

She's doing good; it's been twenty minutes and she hasn't gotten up, but her legs are pretty rapidly bouncing to the fast techno beat of her music. And have been for the last eighteen minutes.

Boy, is Beverly ever glad things are back to normal — or at least what passes for normal these days. Things got a little strange last month, but so far there haven't been any out-of-the-ordinary incidents. That should probably worry her, huh?

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly. As a matter of fact, all personnel look harmless. Well, relatively harmless.

If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.

"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

[Thump thump. Thump thump. With all the adrenaline still coursing through his body after nearly dying, he can clearly hear (and feel) his heart beating in his chest, back where it belongs. It's the closest he's ever come to dying, and an experience he hopes never to repeat.

He needs to clear his head, so of course his thought is to go to the harbor. The salty air of the sea has long been his refuge, and that's not going to change now. Emma had said something about going to find Regina -- who had, after all, just had to say goodbye to the man she loved. He would meet back up with Emma later.

Only instead of going to the harbor, he blinks and he's in some strange place. Certainly not Storybrooke, or the Enchanted Forest, or (thankfully) Neverland. Or any of the other multitude of realms he's seen over the years.

It's crowded, bustling, alien.

He has a feeling he's very far from home.]
