If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.

If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.

"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

[ooc: Sickbay is, as always, OTA and open until the next one goes up for latecomers! For new characters: tagging isn't mandatory but IC going to sickbay is. If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. There will be a post up in the OOC comm shortly with more details about Sickbay and which doctors are on deck this month, if you have any questions.]

Martha had been out of Glaxcin just long enough to start to feel like maybe she could have a normal life. For a definition of normal that involved working for UNIT against alien invasions and having the Doctor's phone number programmed into her phone, at any rate. Her weirdometer had been uniquely calibrated for a while.

Suddenly being in a bar was still at least a seven though. Not being able to remember how one left the pub was one thing, but this was rather the opposite. "Again? Really?" She sounds more... annoyed, than anything. If this place is anything like Glaxcin... she'd rather liked regular meals, once she got back to them.

But, time to assess. A quick glance down reveals that she's still wearing her own clothing. That was something, she definitely hadn't missed the Warden's incredible fashion sense. And her surroundings... no obvious danger. And viewports... "Space. Well then." It hasn't been that long, since the Doctor had just popped by. But still.

On Valentine's Day, one can enter a lounge on a spaceship docked outside a beautiful blue jewel of a planet (which can clearly be seen out the windows), and see that it's been made over with candles and linen tablecloths and red rose centrepieces. It's not anything as grand as Q would do. Amy is using the romance of the room: the windows looking out on Pacifica, soft lighting, and like last year she's even managed to find a trio to play music in one corner of the room: flute, cello, and violin.

Walking in, there's a sign:

♥    BLIND DATING TONIGHT, 19:00*    ♥
Party to follow at 23:00*!

A ginger beauty in a red dress is standing by with a sheet of those name tags you stick on your shirt that say HELLO MY NAME IS ______ and a clipboard of seat assignments. Not all the tables are taken (the woman in charge, Guinan, insisted the room stay open for other patrons), so those meant for the blind dates have numbers tucked in the centrepieces. Amy's taken mostly tables around the outside of the room, where there is the best view of space and a little privacy.

Table 1 - Luna Lovegood & Noriko Ashida
Table 2 - Ed & Alex Rogan
Table 3 - Kale McCallum & The (10th) Doctor
Table 4 - Trever McCallum & Ishka
Table 5 - Olan'atar & T'Pol
Table 6 - General Chang & Aeryn Sun
Table 7 - Marion Scotts & Thor Odinson
Table 8 - The (12th) Doctor & Aidan Nichols
Table 9 - Islington & Merlin
Table 10 - Deanna Troi & DJ
Table 11 - Kristen Kringle & Booker DeWitt
Table 12 - Jacqueline "Jackal" Egret & Dimo
Table 13 - Bob Fraser & Cridhe
Table 14 - Grainne O'Brian & Harry Dresden
Table 15 - Thea Queen & Kitt

If your name is on her list, you'll get a name tag and a little card with your table number on it. "Here you go. The bar's open while you wait, I bribed Guinan t' have out the real stuff, so you can tell her I sent you. No gettin' carried away, though. And no funny business, you treat your date with respect or I'll have you by the ear before night's out. I'll be 'round if you need anything."

Once everyone's been checked off her list, she's going to settle at the bar and have a drink. Match-making's hard business, but each time she does it she gets a little sense of satisfaction. Once the dates are over for the evening, she's looking forward to kicking off her heels and turning this place into a dance party.

New Orleans Open
Nothing has really been good for Beverly in months. She's had patches of wonderful, good things, but overall, since the day she left sickbay on the Enterprise-E to the Borg, nothing has gone well. Not overall.

And now, just when she thought she was managing her flashbacks and nightmares again, she woke up one morning to find Fatima gone. So the guilt has set in. And the worry. And everything else. Fatima was like a daughter to her and Beverly misses her with every fiber of her being. A part of her is so angry with Q, beyond angry, Beyond something simple. She has never liked him. Not even once.

But right now? Beverly Cheryl Howard Crusher is 1000% done with Q. If he leaves them alone today, it would still be too late.

So, here she is in the holodeck today. Most people will come across her sitting by a trashcan of fire in the middle of a back alley. She's instructed the holodeck to make the fire big, so it's pretty much a bonfire. A contained bonfire, but a bonfire nonetheless.

Fire is calming to her. She loves the flickering lights, the way it smells.

Fire helps her cope.

Fire is real. Even when it isn't.

Orient Express Open
If New Orleans isn't the destination of choice, a visitor might open the holodeck doors to find themselves on a train. Right now, it's empty, but that might change. Beverly herself is on the train, with her back facing the front of it.

That may or may not be intentionally symbolic.

Whatever the case, she's curled up on one of the seats, her legs tucked up and her head resting against the window as she watches the world go by. On the seat between her and the wall is a PADD, the one she's been trying to use since Deanna made her suggestion. For now, it's enough to watch and think. Maybe she'll turn the actual story on sometime.

Five more minutes.

Five more minutes to mourn, to watch the back of the train, her life.

Five more minutes to feel guilt that she isn't there with Fatima, that she knows what Fatima will go back to but she isn't there to help.

Five more minutes to wonder about the version of Beverly Crusher who should be in this timeline and to feel guilt about that, too.

Five more minutes to feel numb.

Eleven saw Clara's name on the rooming list during the holiday party, and he found it odd that he hadn't seen her as of yet. Maybe she was spending time with one of the other hims, and he planned on ignoring those feelings of jealousy that swelled up in his stomach thinking about that.

So, since everyone winds up in Ten Forward at some point or other, that's where the Doctor planned on spending the foreseeable future. Eventually, Clara would appear, or Amy, or maybe someone else that he hadn't talked to just yet.

Eleven sat at a table near the window eating his favorite food, fish fingers and custard, something he assumed someone would question him on. Maybe. Eventually.

Hmmm, something seems a little different about the Chief of Security today. His beautifully ridged countenance hasn't been seen for quite some time at the head of one of these little initiations, but now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new cattle for ship-wide access, and they've been carted around by Chief O'Brien on a tour of the ship, along with some background to the situation they now find themselves in, they've been mooooved right along to Lieutenant Worf in Ten Forward.

He looks at his data PADD, with all of his boring instructions and tedious details meticulously written out, and rolls his eyes. Rules, really? What harm could these people really do?

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, command centers, blah, blah-blah, blah blah, are all off-limits.

"Before you're assigned a room, there are a few rules you must obey, though I honestly don't know what could be done to stop you. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters, good grief, this list just goes on forever, doesn't it?

"They want you to read the Prime Directive?! Boring. If you care to see that drivel you can look it up on your own personal PADDs, which will be available in every room. Now, how about something more interesting?"

With a flick of his wrist, the PADD disappears. Cracking his knuckles, "Worf" proceeds to snap his fingers and a flurry of snow whooshes through the room. When the proverbial dust settles, Ten Forward has been decked out in an array of holiday cheer. The windows are frosted, the bar is dusted in snow, a model train choo-choos its way around people's ankles out one door and back in the other. There is a traditional Earth tree in one corner with an endless pile of gifts stacked under it, but other worlds, cultures, and religions have not been left out. Everywhere one looks, there's a different kind of festive decoration.

"La, dee dum, dum," Worf hums, snapping his fingers again and causing a spread of food and drinks to appear on each and every table and surface: candies, cakes, mulled wines, chocolates, pheasants, yams, bol'ghba, and an abundance of other unpronounceable delicacies. "There. Now isn't that better? Never say I didn't do anything for you.

"Oh! That's right, the rooms," he recalls, clapping his hands. He pulls the PADD back out of the ether, reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

Deck 07, Section 4
Room # 0713 - Kristen Kringle and Kuvira
Room # 0731 - Olan'atar and Sophia Inks
Room # 0737 - Bonnie Barstow and KITT (hologram)
Room # 0746 - Sterling Archer and Kira

Deck 8
Room # 0147 - T'Pol and Katniss Everdeen

Deck 9
Room # 0919 - Henry Mills and Matt Murdock
Room # 0921 - Pete Lattimer and Clara Oswald

"Now, won't that be fun?" Worf concludes, with a large, toothy grin. "Remember, it's only fun until Captain Picard has a heart attack, and then your actions are all on your own heads. Oh! Speaking of heads ... "

With one last snap, the Lieutenant in full dress before them morphs into what appears to be a Caucasian human male. No vestiges of the Klingon remain, and as such the man now lets out a long, grateful sigh. "It's good to be home."

For the foreseeable future, Ten Forward will remain in this state, and the doors to the guest quarters will stay open so each new arrival along with the old faithful can experience the full joy and beauty of the holiday season with each other. The corridors are all covered in frost, a pleasant nip in the air, and over the internal comms a song begins to play. The list of new assignments is also displayed on a PADD in Ten Forward, where people can refer to it if they need to.

[ooc: Happy Holidays, at least for the next few days! This log is both a party post for holiday shenanigans and an open log for new roomies (or old ones!) to build CR and meet their neighbors. Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There's a post in the OOC comm for OOC questions and comments! If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. There was a flash, and a small form crumpled to the floor in a heap. When it shifted a few moments later with a soft pained noise, it was revealed to be a tiny female no bigger than a small human child. She was roughly between 2 and a half and 3 feet tall, thin and waiflike with long pale white blonde hair. A hooded robe covered what she was wearing, but she was barefoot.

It also was clear that she wasn't human.

Raising her head, her large eyes widened further as she realized she was in a different place entirely. Echoes of the pain in her back prevented her from getting up right away, but she managed to shift and roll to the side against the wall. Further down the hall, she saw another hallway crossing in another direction. People walked along there but they were not Gelfling or even Skeksis. They were beings she'd never seen before. And tall. Much taller than she'd ever encountered before.

"Jen?" She called, frightened. Wherever she was it was so alien It felt dead. Nothing like the living forests of her home. She fought panic, while she tried to comprehend what had happened to her. The last she remembered, she had just thrown Jen the shard of the Dark Crystal as the Skeksis surrounded her. She hoped that he was able to heal the crystal and fulfill the prophecy! Her heart ached, worried for her friend. And Fizgig. Poor Fizgig had fallen down the fiery pit after jumping to her aid to protect her. Grief warred with the worry.

She had to try and be strong for both of them.

It took a couple tries, but the gelfling managed to get to her feet, leaning with both hands on the wall. She slowly and shakily made her way down the hall while using the wall for balance, feeling the odd vibrations in the wall and floor but not sure what they meant. Nor did she know where she was or how she got there.

All she could do was slowly put one foot infront of the other.

"Doctor?"

Her hand slammed the intercom again. "Doctor!" He was here! After her discussion with Amy she knew he was here and she had to find him. But where ...where was he? She moved further down the halls following the feeling in her gut.

She was close, somewhere him or the TARDIS, she knew it. "Doctor...where are you?:

The Doctor and Cridhe had been getting to know each other. He had been teaching her how to use contractions. But more importantly, they had been learning just how Cridhe's abilities have been limited or not by the ring. Today, they're in the Enterprise Gardens.

"Very well, Doctor. But give me some direction. What would you like to see?"

The Doctor smiles fondly at her. "You know what I want to see."

She rolls her eyes, but there is a hint of mirth in her tone. "I'm not going to try to manifest all of the Gardens from the Box at once. Pick a place."

The Doctor clears his throat. "Even so, you know what I want to see."

Her face falls slightly. "I don't want to bring you pain."

He shakes his head, a small smile still toying at his lips. "Being where we are. I think it would be more comfort than anything. Just try."

Cridhe nods her ascent and moves over to one of the trees. She closes her eyes and touches it. The green leaves transformed into silver. Then she touches the ground near the roots of the tree and it too changed colours: becoming a firery red. She seems to draw something in the air and the sky becomes a burnt-orange colour and two orbs of sunlight appear.

Within a few minutes the entirity of the Enterprise gardens have transformed into a foreign landscape. Well, foreign to some. Anyone who has ever been to Gallifrey will recognise the environment quiet readily.

The Doctor smiles at her. "Not as good as what you can do on the Box, I can actually feel the heat from the suns there."

"Well, the mechanics are entirely different. Unfortunately, this is the equivalent of children's make-believe."

The Doctor catches a hint of defensiveness to her tone. "Oh! I hadn't meant... Cridhe, this is... More than I thought you'd be able to do."

She nods once, accepting his correction.

He grins as he looks around. "How long can you sustain it before you need a break?"

She shakes her head. "No idea."

"Of course. You wouldn't know yet. Well, don't over do it. Stop when you need to."

She held her hand out to him. "Come on."

"What?"

"Well, it would be a waste if we didn't try to enjoy it. Let's lie in the grass."

The Doctor didn't need a second invitation. Both of them picked a spot and stretched out on their backs enjoying the environment for however long it lasted.

[OOC: if your character doesn't want to see the Gallifreyan landscape, that's fine! I have a ready-made explanation for why some people can see it and others can't. (Besides, might be kind of fun to come across two people spread out in the middle of the Enterprise Gardens as if they didn't have a care in the world XD)

If I didn't make it clear enough, Cridhe's speech/actions are in blue (because it's only right) and the Doctor's/narration are in black. Feel free to come and approach them at any point. I didn't set a timeline on this, so feel free to pick what's convenient for your character. I'm handwaving that they'll be doing this several times between now and Christmas.]

It is very probable as you went about your day on the Enterprise that you ran across a flier inviting you to a special event. It's not often Captain Picard indulges in such recreational activities, but a certain member of staff has been encouraging him to be less standoffish, and more welcoming to the displaced guests aboard his vessel. A Captain's duties are never complete.

Holodeck 2, located on Deck 11, opens up on a crisp fall evening in San Francisco, California, in the autumn of 1941...

You enter an office with Dixon Hill's name on the door. Inside, his lovely young secretary, Madeline, greets you with a smile and a smart city-girl accent.

"You must be one of Dix's new 'associates'," she singsongs. "Go on inside, Cutie. Dix is just playing with his cute young private dick."

She winks to bring the double entendre home, and gathers up her pocketbook. "Me? I've got a hot date with my fella, so you be sure Dix behaves himself. See you in the morning!"

As she scoots out, you head through the interior door with the frosted glass panel, straight into Dixon Hill's private office...

Minoru had been busy with his chakra class, as well as trying to learn all he could about what 'natural energy' actually was. However, after sharing some deep thoughts with Beverly during the recent Holodeck party, he couldn't get the promise he made to his late mother out of his head.

'As long as we can be a family again in the next life, I'll be satisfied. I know you can make that happen.'

He'd struggled with that final request, just as he struggled with sending his spirit into the Waiting Place. For twenty years, his mind just wasn't clear. Guilt, shame, doubt, and then grief kept him grounded. But now, he was determined, in body, heart, mind and soul. He would not fail!

Scenario 1: RUNNING!
What Minoru is attempting is essentially an advanced form of meditation, coupled with an out of body experience, that is accomplished only when the mind is absolutely still. Unfortunately for anyone who felt like walking down a hallway today, Minoru's version of absolute stillness involves a lot of running. Which he is now doing at breakneck speed.

Will you collide? Will you catch him? If you're security, it's not that he's willfully ignoring you. His mind is just so focused that he really doesn't even hear you. If he ends up in the brig for disorderly conduct, so be it. He really should have used the Holodeck for this sort of thing.

Scenario 2: SUCCESS!
When Minoru's focus is absolute and his chakra activated in a particular way, he will cross over. At least, his spirit will. His body, though, will undoubtedly come to a not-so-pleasant stop.

Does he come barreling into you? Are you just a witness? Do you come across an unconscious person in a hallway? Do you, by some special power you possess, have the ability to follow his spirit to where souls go between lives and want to join him on his journey?

Now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new passengers for ship-wide access comes a big day for them: the day they receive their official introduction to the Enterprise. It starts with a tour of the ship and some background to the situation, delivered by Chief O'Brien.

The tour covers the main areas of the ship, and a history of recent events, Q-inspired and otherwise.

Once the tour has wrapped up, it normally falls on Worf's shoulders to assign the new arrivals quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. They have been gathered together in Ten Forward, and are awaiting further instructions on how to proceed. Unfortunately, Worf is still unavailable, and so instead it falls on Lt. Junior Grade Baldwin’s shoulders to do so, just as it did last month.

As he has done this before, Baldwin has a speech prepared:

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.

Looking down at the safety of his PADD, he says, "Room assignments are as follows," before reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

Deck 7, Section 4

Room # 0717 - Mara Jade and Cridhe
Room # 0756 - Elim Garak
Room # 0759 - Ayesh

Room # 0918 - Siri Tachi and Obi-Wan Kenobi
Room # 0919 - Luna Lovegood and Chris Halliwell
Room # 0924 - Padmé Amidala and Jadzia Dax

"I will remain here to answer questions," Baldwin says, managing to keep the reluctance out of his voice. "And the rest of the Security team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.

The moments before she arrived.... )

But the humming was special. It was called Heterodyning. Something only her family could do. An Atonal hum that was an instinctive sound made to perfectly counterpoint every noise and filter against it so that she could think without distraction. Hard to tell if it was the humming... or the thinking... that put her so close to mad girl state. But she was hovering on the border of the madness. She turned to signal Violetta to get the girl out of there, NOW.... and realized she was no longer in Paris.

The corridors were familiar but... the humming helped, and everything snapped into place with sudden clarity. She knew where she was. She fell to her feet, screaming with pain, heterodyning done, as EVERY memory slammed its way back into her brain. Her s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/58/6a/ea/586aea8292adf6786dd33fd3a085f9f2.jpg Weasel climbed up from around her ankle to paw at her face, chattering nervously.

How? She felt the madness rising in her, the fugue state that was so much of being a Spark was rising. How? How had she forgotten this place? Why had she wasted so much time trying to get to Paris when there was this place, where there was so much technology, and people who would have been willing to help? How had she forgotten her time here? She had friends here that would have helped her out. Hadn't one of the people she met even said he worked with time travel? And what about Billy? Tasha? Minoru.... so many people she had met here who would have helped her.

And her dingbots. Here? How had she not even noticed the lack? She had just presumed they had all been stuck in Mechanicsburg, but her first dingbot.... when had ANYTHING ever stopped it from returning to her side? How could she have forgotten her friends, this place, this tech...

Clearly... something had messed with her brain. Again. She stood, fury filling her, madness in her eyes. She was sick and tired with people mucking about her brain. First her mother, then this. No. No more! She grabbed the first person she encountered by the front of his or her shirt, lifting the person off the ground, pulling the person close. "I need a knife. Now."

She was going to cut into her own skull, figure out what was going on, and FIX it. Because she was a SPARK, and what was the point of being a Spark if she could not fix everything!?

Jack had finally convinced the Doctor that they needed as much rest as she did. So they had left her alone in the room she was supposed to be sleeping in. The Doctor had given her the ring of his first wife. For a man who has tried to forget so much of Gallifrey, he really was a sentimental idiot. It was a black ring with silver Gallifreyan script written on it. The ring held a special power, he had said. It was something to keep her safe. But she had not been able to remove it. That was all right, she supposed. She trusted him, so if this was for her good, she would wear it. It was slightly too big to wear on her right ring finger, so she wore it on the middle finger of that hand instead.

She had accomplished so much - over a thousand years of running the calculations - and she was once again in flesh form. This time she was much more stable than she had been when the House had forced her into Idris' body. And she intended to remain this way as long as possible. It was with that thought she fell asleep.

She wakes with a gasp. When she looks around, she realises she is no longer in the bedroom Jack had provided for her. In fact, she can tell this place was in motion. It only takes her one look out the window to realise... she has no idea where she is. That is terrifying for her. She is used to being able to control the whole of Time and Space. And she can't tell much of anything. It's almost like this isn't her universe, but how is that even possible? Maybe this is just a nightmare. Jack and the Doctor had both mentioned they were fairly common. All she needs to do is wake herself up. She closes her eyes and then opens them again.   "It is not working!"

Her voice has a melodic quality to it.  Almost as if she were singing, if she were speaking another language.  Now, she was starting to panic properly. She cries out, "Doctor? Jack?"

She looks around again. The place where she is looks like a place for socialising, only there are very few people around. She closes her eyes again, trying to calm herself. She can tell it is the period for a majority of humans to be sleeping. Well that explains the lack of others. She needed to find the Doctor and Jack. If she was here, perhaps they were as well. If she could not understand, perhaps it was something specific to flesh that they could explain to her.

To anyone who is around she will ask: "Excuse me, have you seen the Doctor or Jack?"

[ooc: I'm happy to backtag to this until I can post to the sickbay entry. I have something entirely different planned for that.]
