[Ten Forward]: Rooming Assignments | Round # 12

Now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new passengers for ship-wide access comes a big day for them: the day they receive their official introduction to the Enterprise. It starts with a tour of the ship and some background to the situation, delivered by Chief O'Brien.

The tour covers the main areas of the ship, and a history of recent events, Q-inspired and otherwise.

Once the tour has wrapped up, it normally falls on Worf's shoulders to assign the new arrivals quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. They have been gathered together in Ten Forward, and are awaiting further instructions on how to proceed. Unfortunately, Worf is still unavailable, and so instead it falls on Lt. Junior Grade Baldwin’s shoulders to do so.

As he has done this before, Baldwin has a speech prepared:

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.

Looking down at the safety of his PADD, he says, "Room assignments are as follows," before reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

"I will remain here to answer questions," Baldwin says, managing to keep the reluctance out of his voice. "And the rest of the Security team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.

Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is a post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions and find more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there. If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. The tour given by Chief O'Brien is not open for tagging; you can assume your character had any basic questions answered. ]

Room 713 Emma and Kiliian

Emma didn't know the first thing about packing anything, so all of her things were haphazardly thrown into boxes and moved into her new room. She hadn't minded living with Merlin in the slightest, in fact she found him to be a cool roommate.

She also felt ready to take this step with Killian, so she couldn't really help the small smile that she sent his way as she went about unpacking.

With the amount of moving she's done, she should be used to it by now, but it's okay. He's so meticulous and organized about his living space that everything will soon have its own location. He'd been living on his own for awhile after his last roommate was apparently sent back home, so having some company will be nice.

"Here, love. Let me help you with that."

Emma should be offended, but honestly she was so stressed out by the situation that she would have welcomed any help at that point. She was tired, and cranky.

"You don't like my packing?" She tossed at him, smiling slightly. She might be more nervous than she was letting on.

"You seem distracted is all." She's usually meticulous about things too. "Relax, love. It's only us here. This is what you wanted, isn't it?"

Emma shrugged a little, not at his question, but rather at the fact he said she was distracted. "Of course I do. You think I don't?"

She turned facing him fully, clothes in her hands. "I just haven't been sleeping too well."

"Let's get these things put away then, and then we'll have some time to relax. How does that sound?" He takes the clothes from her and turns to put them in a drawer.

Emma smiled, although it was a tight smile, and it didn't quite reach her eyes, but she was trying.

"Sure.... I don't know if it will help, but I trust you."

"Emma." Something's different, he can tell. He puts the box down and turns to take her in his arms. "What's wrong, love? How can I help?"

Emma turned, slumping against him, breathing deeply. "Can you banish nightmares? I've been having them almost every night."

"Nightmares?" He leads her over to sit on the couch. Unpacking can be finished later. This is more important. "Nightmares about what?"

Emma wants to protest. She opens her mouth but finds she just doesn't have the energy for it right now so she lets him lead her to the couch. sitting down heavily.

"Mostly you... I keep dreaming about the clock tower.... only in the dream Belle doesn't get there in time."

She takes in a shuddering breath, tears burning the corner of her eyes.

"Emma. I'm a survivor, remember?" He might make light of it, but he knows how close he came to dying that day. "I'm right here, and Gold can't hurt me here. You have nothing to worry about there."

Emma nodded her head as she wiped her tears away. "I'm sorry. I know that, but I still can see it. I wish I could stop I really do. But I have lost so many people. You already know this though. I just don't know how to stop them."

She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

"Maybe they'll stop with me here. Maybe you'll know that I'm not going anywhere. This place seems safer than Storybrooke ever did."

Emma laughed softly, turning into his arms and resting her head on his chest. "Anywhere would be safer than Storybrooke, but maybe you're right. I just feel so tired all the time."

"Sleeping should help with that. You won't be so tired if you can get some sleep."

"I've never been much of a sleeper," She murmured into his shirt. She moved her head slightly so she could look at him. "You do seem to chase the demons away though. Are you sure you don't have magic?"

"I'm quite sure. Maybe I just have that affect on you." He sleeps better when she's around, he knows that much.

Emma leaned up and kissed him in the spot underneath his chin before she settled down again. "Killian? How is it that you know exactly what to say to make everything okay again?"

"I'm not sure, exactly. I just say what seems right to say." He can read her well. He just follows his instinct to tell her was she needs to hear.
