Forces beyond dark and light [OTA]
Who: Sariss, OTA [ESPECIALLY to SW types]
Where: Darkened corridors
When: During Halloween Event
Warnings: Probably none, other than a dark jedi somewhat on the loose.
[Option 1]
It had not started as a torment, the ghosts. She knew such things were possible, but only through the Force, and even then not like this. It had begun with shrieking spirits, flying through the walls in a pathetic attempt to scare her. They were odd, green things. Apparitions as if from a story book. Not something that could ever scare her. And even then, she managed a brief smile at their efforts. They did not know fear, had not made it.
But they adapted quickly. They began to appear as memories, of those she had killed. And oh, there were so many. So very many. The rebels she had killed in her service to the Empire and Jerec, the civilians who had gotten in the way, even the Imperial soldiers she had ordered to their deaths.
That, too, failed to faze her. Had failed to dent the ice that was her exterior.
Then they adapted again. And this had more effect. They were laughing, taunting her. The once-dead dark jedi, miraculously alive. That she was weak, and would join them soon. She moved through the corridors, trying to drive them away, her rage building deep inside her.
Then she turned a corner, and he waited.
"Well," Yun said, her former lover, her former protege - and the man she had murdered. "Aren't you looking unwell."
"You...you are nothing. You are a mere trick. I will not succumb to you."
It was an open question whether or not anybody else could see who she was talking to.
[Option B]
She finally, finally knew what to do. The torment would end. The visions were reduced now, her mental fortitude had seen to that. She sat, cross-legged, in a darkened, deserted corridor. Concentrating. Her hold over the dark side was tenuous here, as if she were recharging from a far-off battery. But in these ghosts, she had recognized something. Something she could harness.
She breathed in, deeply, her mind deathly silent. And then she simply invited them in. Their power would be added to hers, would fire her back to her full potential. Yes, yes - she could feel it, feel power flowing back into her form. Around her, seeming green smoke flowed into her, surrounded her. A slow smile spread across her face.
Yes, there was power here. Deep, if temporary power.
She stood, slowly, and opened eyes that were no longer ice blue. They were green fire now. And then her look...changed. No, there was power here - but not control.
And then she roared, half-Sariss, and half-spirit. And all fury.

Nice to make your acquaintence. Option B, please
Unfortunately, it led him right to Sariss. He didn't know who she was or what she was normally like, but he had a feeling this probably wasn't right either.
"...Are you okay?"
Second time we've met, but I'll leave the other occasion a mystery :P
"I am beyond. I am grown. I am new."
The briefest of smiles moves across her face, a hand coming up in front of her face moving back and forth and watching the green trails of smoke whispering and moving with the movements.
"I am a we," she says, finally.
dang, your journal doesn't give any hints to the other muses you have...
"I get the feeling you're supposed to be a 'me' not a 'we."
He took a couple steps closer, preparing to release the energy in his seal. There wasn't much left (not after his little meditative venture a couple weeks earlier), but at a moment's notice, he might need to boost his senses. He'd been in the presence of dark spirits before, a long time ago. It wasn't pleasant.
"You can fight it."
I'm subtle that way. :P Throws off people who might hate/love other ones :P
"Why? Why should I - we - fight this? Such power. I can almost grasp it..."
It was there, just beyond her control. Something...greater than the Force. More powerful than even the dark side. The thought was terrifying. The thought was thrilling. Even her master did not know this. She had no idea who Q was, what the continuum was, nor did she care - for a moment, she had tapped it.
And had the illusion of control.
20 questions time! Yay! Is the other muse male or female?
He stood his ground, but his mind was divided. Cridhe answered a similar question not too long ago. Humans weren't meant to tap into the power of the universe. They weren't designed to have that kind of experience. His response - 'Then I won't be human.'
Was this any different? Maybe. Maybe not.
"...That depends. Why do you want it? And are you willing to pay the price?"
Male!
"It will be our freedom. We will march forth and claim the power of this vessel and then find a way to return. The master..."
She paused. Or it paused.
"This must be what he wanted in the Valley. Yes, this feeling, this freedom."
Is he human? Fully human?
"If you have to use her body to do it, you're not really all that free. You know that, right?"
He started circling around, arms up and relaxed. Just in case. Minoru may have been a pacifist, but he was also a skilled ninja. Hopefully, he could egg the dark thing out of her before things resorted to actual combat.
No!
And a smile played out as she - now it - walked towards him. Or, more accurately, floated just an inch above the floor.
"Come, join your power to ours."
Is he completely alien?
The dark energy that seemed to fill the room brought Minoru back to his time in the Underdark. Those memories still haunted him, even two decades later.
When it started floating toward him, he charged. In mid-stride, he activated his Sage Mode. In addition to the white scales covering his body, a white snake grew out of each arm. It folded itself against his wrist, ready to strike. His chakra envenomation technique was strong enough to jump-start a stopped heart, perhaps it would give her body the strength to fight back from the inside!
If not, he'd figure something else out.
Yes
The smile spread, and the green flared in her - it's - eyes. Then he charged, and the smile faded. But with this power, there was something akin to the Force, and a hand raised, to throw him back with sheer, flaring energy.
"No!"
... Are you a Cat?
"Okay, in any other cirucmstance, that would be pretty cool." He shook his head.
I am zero percent cat.
She felt the power encroaching at what had been her arena, felt the loss of balance begin. For a moment, it might even show, in a slight tilt of her - their - head.
Then she hissed as the hand lifted again - with her agreement. But not with her control.
Are you a wraith?
He drew a breath, and exhaled a ball of fire straight down the corridor. If she had the power to push him back, he knew the fire probably wouldn't be effective. But he needed the distraction. As flame erupted from his lips, his finger traced a line down his summoning tattoo. A snake, specifically a large constrictor, appeared on the other side. And it was poised to strike!
Nay!
She was decidedly not in control, or even balance, of this situation anymore.
I'm gonna get this eventually. Are you... Cardassian?
Minoru stayed on the balls of his feet, ducking, twisting, bouncing as she slashed. He was an acrobatic fighter, honed from years and years of dodging venomous serpents. He was fast, and even if she hit him, in Sage Mode, those scales could be as tough as armor.
If exchanging blows could hold her at bay long enough for his snake to essentially pin her, so be it!
(In theory...)
Option 1 Might morph into B later.
He comes across the woman and... he recognises the conversation. It's not too dissimilar from one he had with River not too long ago. He could see River, but no one else could. Fine. He knew how to deal with that.
He speaks plainly. Not really offering advice and not really expecting to be heard nor understood. But offering a simple statement of fact.
"Even speaking to the apparition gives credence to it."
no subject
The spectre of Yun laughs, speaking softly. Is that all I am now, Sariss? A ghostly little tale? Here I thought you cared.
"I did not! You were my apprentice! Your corruption was mine to craft. I did what was necessary!" All of it said to someone who isn't there in a dark hiss.
"I took you - a mere boy, a child of privilege of no account - and I gave you power. Real power!"
no subject
Or someone is, but let her believe whatever she likes for now. Also, he's going to have to be a bit more cautious now. Because she seems to not be as helpless as he first thought.
no subject
"What nonsense do you speak?"
no subject
Well, yes. But also it tends to keep people's attention on him rather than on whatever might be causing them distress. He is a Doctor, after a fashion.
no subject
"Do not waste my time with this," she responds. "You do not know the power of the Force, you do not know the spirits it can conjure."
But we do, don't we? I'm going to haunt your every step.
Her head snaps back.
"Ignorant child, I raised you up. Had you not stepped in front of the blade, imagine the power we could have had!"
no subject
Well, that's rare, him not admitting something. Except when he finds it interesting, and this is interesting.
"But, like I said, I do know about giving power something that's supposed to be dead."
Oh, does he know that. Far, far too well.
no subject
Like us...
She shook her head. "Those strong in the Force may not truly die. Their spirit lives on, without true form or power to touch the universe - but alive."
no subject
He might be inclined to believe her if it is. If not, well, then no rules apply.
"Or were you brought and trapped here like so many of the rest of us?"
no subject
She gestures.
"Do you not see them? Are you blind?"
no subject
He pulls out his sonic and scans the area she just gestured.
"See? Nothing. Just an empty corridor."
no subject
"You wave some tool and pretend you can understand it? The Force is deeper than that, it is not the creature of...base technology. It is energy, created by all living things! It is my power."
Which is when she falters.
"No...no, it is not.. it is gone. It is...elsewhere. What is this?"
no subject
"You are in another universe. The rules of your original universe don't apply here. My sonic is from my universe, but it can signal energy readings and I've been tinkering with it to adapt it to this universe."
no subject
"Yes. I am. Yet, I can feel the Force, though it is far away - like through a haze. It is there. This is real. Your instruments will fail you. The Force is mind, and power."
She lifts a hand, pointing at a light fixture. Her face scrunches in concentration.
"I cannot..." Her hand shakes, and the light flickers, ever so much. "I cannot reach it!"
no subject
He only pauses briefly. He's being rhetorical. "Conjecture: Because something else is creating it."
Namely her mind, but he'll start slow.
no subject
But she pauses.
"But if it is created, it can be harnessed."
no subject
"Or by paying attention to it, you are feeding it your power. Making it stronger."
no subject
"You may be wiser than you look. Yes. It can be made stronger."
She turns in a swirl of cloak and strides away, to find a quiet place to pull it to herself.
That sort of determined walk says quite a lot about what is to come.
no subject
Who would he tell? How could he fix what he just did?
He doesn't go after her, but he will keep an eye out for her....
