[Away Mission:] Day 2, Alemar III (Fallout)

At some point during the madness, day turned to night, and night to day. A second sunrise on Alemar III, and things are still bleak. The dust may have had time to settle, but the air is still thick and the elevators are still down; doors won't open, and fallen rocks just continue to shift and block off escapes.

The only good news seems to be that whatever damage had affected the life support systems and dampening field has been reversed, and breathable air and light continues to filter through both aboveground and belowground facilities. But that's the only good news. People are getting hungry, and there are still wounded in need of help.

And suddenly, in one of the caves, another particularly unlucky group will notice the crystals speckling the walls starting to amass. Much like yesterday, a high-pitched whine precedes the rumbling of crystal pieces clicking together, like a child's toy continuing to gain mass until it has formed another lizard-like body, this one long like a giant snake with sharp crystal fangs. Its legs may be short, but its claws are sharp and it moves with considerable speed, the shrieking when it does almost unbearable.

The walls all around shake.
