tript: (what is that?)

The wrong Enterprise (open)

Anyone familiar with the history of Starfleet - at least when it came to uniforms - would recognise that the man who appeared in Ten Forward was from two hundred years ago. His uniform was a lot like a blue boiler suit, with red stripes, three pins denoting his rank of Commander, and a lot of pockets.

Commander Charles Tucker III was confused. A moment ago he'd been on Enterprise and now he was somewhere else. It looked like it could be a bar, but the stars outside and the feeling beneath his feet of a warp engine, told him it was a starship. So this was a mess hall, perhaps. He didn't feel like he'd been transported. And if something had wiped his memory his shoulder would have improved. He moved his left arm experimentally in its sling. No, definitely no memory wipe and he'd definitely just been on Enterprise.

Trip unzipped a pocket and came across a hyper spanner. "I wondered where that went," he muttered to himself. He put it back and pulled out his communicator. Flipping it open he said, "Tucker to Enterprise." There was nothing - not even static. It was as if Enterprise was not in range, but if that was the case how did he get here? If only he had two hands free and the right tools, he'd take the communicator apart to check it was working. He tried it again, not really expecting an answer this time. "Tucker to Enterprise."

"Uh, probably the wrong Enterprise!"

The accent is American, voice feminine. The owner of said voice is, well. Green and red. Green, green skin and a mane of red curls that's only been loosely pulled back, and both colours are set off by the grey of her uniform. Orion, clear as day, despite the unusual colour of her hair.

Her smile is friendly, though. And her uniform fits well, but only because it's the right size - aside from her prettiness, and a kind of charisma, there's nothing of the seductress about her at all.

"I mean, it happens lots. I'm from the past, too. Not the Enterprise, though. And I think you're from further back from me anyway-"

Her eyes dart to the pins, and for a moment, her fast speech falters.

"Um. Sir," Gaila adds.

Harry came to a halt as he spotted the man in the not-quite-right uniform, and he nodded. Must be that time of the month again. Then he winced internally. He really needed to never think that again. Ow.

He made himself smile and wave, carefully, at the man, making no sudden movements. He could probably take him, but really, who had time for that?

"Hi. Let me guess, you were somewhere else, doing something else, and then there was a big flashy light, and you were here." A deep breath.

"You're not alone. I, and about a hundred others, I think, have been brought here similarly. You're on the U.S.S. Enterprise, circa the 24th Century, and an entity that doesn't show his face named Q has been beaming people in here for over a year." Harry rubbed his face.

"Care for a drink, and a run down?" he waved toward a table, thinking maybe this was something that needed more of a tale.
dresdensluck: (Seriously)

Harry walked with him as he waved toward the waiter who was on duty. "No. Not that I know of. He's a crazy, petty, and childish being, with the powers of a god. People who've dealt with him before seem to think he is part of a group of such beings, one called the Q Continuum." Harry didn't know what to think about the lack of imagination there, especially not after seeing all the episodes he had, but he shook that thought away.

"As far as we can tell, he likes to make life interesting for this ship, and for people, in general. And by interesting, I mean chaotic. So, he brings people here from across all space and time, from multiple universes, even."

He paused as the waiter came by and ordered a real beer, then paused so Trip could order. "I know this is a lot to take in. It always is. I remember when i first got here, back in February."

When the beers came, Harry took a small sip of his, then nodded. "Unfortunately, Q never asks, and almost never shows up to be pigeonholed about it. A number of us, each on their own, are looking into ways to get home, but so far as I know, no one has found a way. Sometimes, Q will seemingly randomly send people back to their homes, but some people have been on this ship the entire year and some change since it started."

he waved a hand toward nearby uniformed crewpeople. "The crew are nice about it, and seem to be trying to help us as much as they can, but it's not exactly on the top of our lists, you know?" Maybe when Harry had been a kid, yeah, but now? No.

"I'm working on getting some lab space set up, so I can run my own studies and experiments and see what I can do to ruin Q's day."

He snapped his fingers, then. "Oh, and security will be around soon enough, to inform you of the minor quarantine. They'll show you guest quarters, and then help you find Sickbay, where they'll make sure you neither die of future plague, nor have brought plague from the past to kill people with. Or any other problems. After that,m you get a more permanent room."

Is everyone going to be asking the same stupid questions in this stupid ass space bar? Suddenly Trip has a young black lion looking at him from the opposite side of a couch, peering at him like he just said something offensive.

More annoying than anything, but he can't sit here for ten minutes without some other person poofing in out of nowhere asking about where they are. At least this one was on the dot.

"Yes. This is the Enterprise. Don't panic."

Briefly, Trip might notice that he flinches slightly when the older man nears. Not terribly comfortable with strangers. A low rumble is heard, and he might even notice that physically he is like a half way point between human and lion. Hardly a diversion of cosmic evolution, but if someone spliced the two species together instead.

"This is. Yeah. Or so they told me."
orions_shadow: (Scoff)

[personal profile] orions_shadow 2015-09-14 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I'm human fused with lion. Magicly. Don't ask how." No way is he going to explain it to a stranger. At least he wasn't being rude about it though.
dresdensluck: (Confusion)

"It's nice, the replicators here...devices that rearrange matter and energy, can make almost any kind of food or drink, within reason. Alcohol is mostly available here in the bar, but food and small stuff is available even in the personal quarters units."

Harry chuckled.

"Not exactly. I'm a wizard. Same field, just from a different perspective."

"You got zapped from your time and place in your particular universe and timeline and ended up in the future. Or, some people it's the past, and others it's a totally different universe to begin with, because that's how Q rolls. Oh, Q from the Q continuum, they're, hah, interesting."

She doesn't sound noticeably out of breath by the end, despite how fast she talks.

"So, now you're on the USS Enterprise- NCC-1701-D, which is captained by Jean-Luc Picard. I, uh, can't remember if you used stardates by when I think you're from, but it's the year 2336 as most of Earth uses that dating system."

She smiles. As if he isn't suspicious, as if she isn't wondering how much of it is because he's been zapped here and how much of it's because she's Orion.

"Welcome aboard, Commander, right? I'm Ensign Gaila betIlley."

It was the first time, thus far, that Jim had felt compelled to treat anyone the way he'd been treated by some when he'd first arrived.

Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III, before his very eyes.

Jim had been relatively good at 'fleet history, at the Academy.

He choked slightly on his drink, trying to cover by wiping his mouth with his sleeve.

"You all right, Commander?" he asked after he recovered.

Sometimes you gotta believe in a little magi

Trip? Then there was his story, a bit weird, but then Shadow shrugged. "Multierse'll do that to you ya."

"Yeah? Good. These shouldn't be too much of a leap for you, then." Harry hoped so, anyway. This guy seemed to be rolling with the punches and taking it in stride. Now if he could get over the magic hump...

Harry chuckled. "Yes. Maybe not where you come from, and maybe not normally here, but when Q brought people from different universes, he brought those rules with us. So I can still do magic."

He concentrated, and then spoke, casting a new spell he had been working on. "Infringis Fuego Minimus" And fire, blue and shimmering, bloomed in a ball shape above his fingers, but cold, and not harmful. Harry held it out for the other man to see, and flicked it into the air, where it hung.

"Fine, fine," Jim said, waving it away. He gestured to the Commander's communicator. "I know you have no reason to believe me, and if I were you'd I'd keep trying. But I very much doubt anyone's going to answer you. And if you're looking for the Enterprise, well... we're on the same boat."

So to speak. Unfortunately, Jim was the only one who was going to appreciate that little pun, and that, only with some bitterness.

"Jim Kirk," he said, holding out his hand. "USS Enterprise."
