There are, of course, those out there who think that Torchwood isn't all that great at what they do, but Jack chooses to ignore them, mostly. Torchwood treads on toes and ruffles feathers, but hell. Cardiff's still there, which is more than could be said if they weren't good at their job.

Of all the places to have a rift in time and space, the middle of the capital of Wales is far from ideal.

"So good at it most people don't even know we're there. It's a bit beyond what most people are used to."

But hell, Jack's not in it for the accolades. He's not even in it because of the threats anymore, or the money, but ... call it the chance to do something worthwhile, to protect his adopted planet. And hang out somewhere he's going to find the Doctor. Eventually.
