[Ten Forward]: Rooming Assignments + Holiday Open House!
Hmmm, something seems a little different about the Chief of Security today. His beautifully ridged countenance hasn't been seen for quite some time at the head of one of these little initiations, but now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new cattle for ship-wide access, and they've been carted around by Chief O'Brien on a tour of the ship, along with some background to the situation they now find themselves in, they've been mooooved right along to Lieutenant Worf in Ten Forward.
He looks at his data PADD, with all of his boring instructions and tedious details meticulously written out, and rolls his eyes. Rules, really? What harm could these people really do?
With a flick of his wrist, the PADD disappears. Cracking his knuckles, "Worf" proceeds to snap his fingers and a flurry of snow whooshes through the room. When the proverbial dust settles, Ten Forward has been decked out in an array of holiday cheer. The windows are frosted, the bar is dusted in snow, a model train choo-choos its way around people's ankles out one door and back in the other. There is a traditional Earth tree in one corner with an endless pile of gifts stacked under it, but other worlds, cultures, and religions have not been left out. Everywhere one looks, there's a different kind of festive decoration.
"La, dee dum, dum," Worf hums, snapping his fingers again and causing a spread of food and drinks to appear on each and every table and surface: candies, cakes, mulled wines, chocolates, pheasants, yams, bol'ghba, and an abundance of other unpronounceable delicacies. "There. Now isn't that better? Never say I didn't do anything for you.
"Oh! That's right, the rooms," he recalls, clapping his hands. He pulls the PADD back out of the ether, reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.
Deck 07, Section 4
Room # 0713 - Kristen Kringle and Kuvira
Room # 0731 - Olan'atar and Sophia Inks
Room # 0737 - Bonnie Barstow and KITT (hologram)
Room # 0746 - Sterling Archer and Kira
Deck 8
Room # 0147 - T'Pol and Katniss Everdeen
Deck 9
Room # 0919 - Henry Mills and Matt Murdock
Room # 0921 - Pete Lattimer and Clara Oswald
"Now, won't that be fun?" Worf concludes, with a large, toothy grin. "Remember, it's only fun until Captain Picard has a heart attack, and then your actions are all on your own heads. Oh! Speaking of heads ... "
With one last snap, the Lieutenant in full dress before them morphs into what appears to be a Caucasian human male. No vestiges of the Klingon remain, and as such the man now lets out a long, grateful sigh. "It's good to be home."
For the foreseeable future, Ten Forward will remain in this state, and the doors to the guest quarters will stay open so each new arrival along with the old faithful can experience the full joy and beauty of the holiday season with each other. The corridors are all covered in frost, a pleasant nip in the air, and over the internal comms a song begins to play. The list of new assignments is also displayed on a PADD in Ten Forward, where people can refer to it if they need to.
[ooc: Happy Holidays, at least for the next few days! This log is both a party post for holiday shenanigans and an open log for new roomies (or old ones!) to build CR and meet their neighbors. We'll have a few special holiday top levels for gifts, but otherwise you can tag directly into the post with your character, their room number, and who they're looking for (or leave it OTA)!
Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There's a post in the OOC comm for OOC questions and comments! If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. The tour given by Chief O'Brien is not open for tagging; you can assume your character had any basic questions answered. ]

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, command centers, blah, blah-blah, blah blah, are all off-limits.
"Before you're assigned a room, there are a few rules you must obey, though I honestly don't know what could be done to stop you. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters, good grief, this list just goes on forever, doesn't it?
"They want you to read the Prime Directive?! Boring. If you care to see that drivel you can look it up on your own personal PADDs, which will be available in every room. Now, how about something more interesting?"

[ secret santa hat ]
If you dip your hand inside, you will come out holding a single gift: a single holiday wish. Whatever your heart most desires in that moment, it is now yours. There's no secret to this Santa, or how well he knows you.
[ ooc: items can be anything as long as it abides by the game's rules, so no deadly toxins, weapons, living things, and so forth. For maximum hilarity, feel free to accidentally retrieve someone else's gift, and thread out the result. ]

[ o~ Christmas tree, o~ Christmas tree ]
It makes an ideal place to pull your significant other, your new roommate, your best friend, or that fellow you saw from across the room the other day, and exchange gifts with them. Or, if you're feeling shy, leave them under the tree. Everyone loves a good surprise.

[ a Q in the hand is worth two in the bush ]
While the "open house" is in full swing, food and drinks constantly replenishing themselves throughout the room, he settles at a table in the far corner and observes his handiwork.
Maybe you've seen him before. Maybe you have your suspicions. Maybe you innocently think he's just another officer on this ship, and you have questions. There's any number of reasons you could approach him, really. Now's your chance.
[ ooc: **LAST OF THE TOP-LEVELS. RESUME TAGGING IN AS NORMAL BELOW** Q is around for a little while, and to prevent drowning out other tag-ins this is your one-stop-shop for all your Q needs. Be forewarned: he is moody, and may get up and leave without warning or mess with your character if the mood strikes him. Hop over to the OOC post linked above if you want to clear any permissions by the mun first. ]

I love you. Just on general principle.
But of course. What's not to love?
Re: But of course. What's not to love?
Replies might come from Cridhe as well, just so we don't need 2 threads.
As you wish! You may end up with more CR with two, if this ends up short

Partial Plotlocked to Kuvira, OTA Otherwise
But for the moment she got a cup of tea from the replicator and watched the scene through the open doors, partly in case Kuvira arrived (to set living with her on the right footing) and also to be social.

Thea had every reason to hate Christmas: especially after 3 lousy ones in a row. But she had small presents for her brother and Felicity: a new leather jacket to give new memories and a pair of earrings. Simple sure but she had a family now. In the meantime however she was ducking the lounge like the plague: with how miserable she still felt she just was not in the mood for people being happy. "Besides, the Arrow kittens will want dinner." happy for an excuse to escape.
*OTA*
Thea was in hiding but with the door open could watch the hallway and make sure the kittens were not getting underfoot (or having tails and claws smashed by accident). She held onto her tea as she wrapped her coat around her even more, the nip was making her feel like she was in a meat locker. A trio of kittens however were happily mewing and playing after eating.

In which he got first, apparently. The room looked exactly like two-person quarters were supposed to look on a Federation vessel. Olan'atar put down his kar'takin in one corner and waited for his roommate to appear. She wouldn't be long. In the meantime, he would do some push-ups.

Kale | OTA
The pony, a bright pastel yellow one with wings and a horn, rainbow colored hair and a muffin on her flank, is sitting on the table next to a bottle labeled "McCallum Whiskey" that Kale confiscated from Trever before his twin went and did his stupid thing.
The whiskey turns out to be the best part of the evening, actually. He's had two glasses already and the bottle doesn't appear to have emptied any. So, he's set out a second glass in case Trever comes back or someone else wants a drink.
Christopher Pike (OTA)
He thought his drink was festive too, a Manhattan with a bright red cherry on the bottom.
Well hello cannon mate sorta esque

Kira: OTA
The little gelfling was still somewhat in amazed shock at all of this. She hadn't said much during the tour and simply tried to take everything in. It was still surreal like a dream, and she followed everyone in a daze trying to absorb it all. Before it sunk in that she had been given a room and assigned a room mate - the odd looking man with the deep voice suddenly cast some sort of spell and the large room -changed-.
Kira gasped audibly, hands over her mouth as she saw the food and drink appear on every table. She could feel the crispness in the air and the frost on the windows. Such powerful magic! She had never seen anything like it. And then the man changed into another appearance. A paler though still tall man (it seemed everyone was tall here).
Sensing that the spectacle was over (or at least she thought) - Kira slowly walked to one of the large windows, passing the tables of food despite her stomach grumbling. Climbing up onto one of the chairs, she held onto the back of it as she openly stared out the window. Seeing nothing but a yawning void and the pinpoints of light dotting it.

Room # 0921 - Pete Lattimer and Clara Oswald (OTA for Pete, too!)
Way to make friends and influence people, Lattimer.
He's a little wary about being roomed with someone he doesn't know when both Myka and H.G. are on the ship. Number one, because he's still not totally convinced that he hasn't been whammied, and everything people have told him so far does not sound like good odds at getting un-whammied. Number two, because he's on a ship full of fictional people, or at least who he thought were fictional people until now (seriously, how can this not be an Artifact?!), and he's already gotten the "Pete, don't touch things, Pete, don't cause trouble, Pete, don't say anything stupid" speech. Nobody has any faith in him.
But okay, they have a point.
He raps his knuckles against the jamb when he approaches the open door, poking his head into the room. "Uh. Clara Oswald?" he calls, just in case she's already in there. Seriously, it's going to be really awkward rooming with a girl. Especially one that's not Myka. "Hellooooo?"
He starts poking around the room, touching everything in sight. Well, that's one rule already broken. At least he doesn't recognize the name 'Clara Oswald', so hopefully rules two and three stay totally intact. He wonders who his next door neighbors are?

The longest night, and Winsol - OTA
It was proper to give a gift to the Queen you served, and Queens who ruled gave to the Queens who ruled above them, just as she knew all the Dhelman Queens gave to the Warlord Prince of Dhelman. She had helped Slyvia with the official gifts a few times. So she knew that serving under the Warlord of the Enterprise, she need a proper gift for Picard.
It wasn't cheating to consult her webs, she decided. She could easily learn even more about him by talking to people - if she cared to talk to people. She didn't. So she took the easier route. And so, waiting for Picard under the tree was a gift wrapped in sapphire and purple paper with a green ribbon, and a tag with his name. Inside he would find a Scelt whistle, a Shaladorian flute, and a book of sheet music for each. The Scelt whistle was a small metal flute, the Shalidorian one was slightly longer and made of hand carved wood. Gifts sent via the Queen.
Theorn had gotten the man a small gift as well, giving over to him a dagger he had with him when he arrived. The man seemed like he needed to learn more weapons then he knew.
There were others, Ailyshia supposed she ought to get gifts for, so feel free to check the tree and see if there is one there for you.
Lady Cassidy had sent the Queen chocolate chunk cookies, and she had sent some along, so at midnight, on the longest night, feel free to find Aiylshia and Theorn actually sitting civilly together, sipping rum that scented of blood, and eating sifully good chocolate chunk cookies in the lounge.
Clara Oswald - Open to All
She hasn't noticed her pulse yet, or that would be a whole new set of emotions that she isn't ready to work through. For now though, the school teacher turned space and time traveler is actually handling this pretty well.
Which is to say she's going everywhere she is allowed to go and investigating as much as humanly (or not) possible. Which means she's snooped around Ten Forward, looking out to space (which is actually very calming for her) and looking over the treats on the table. It was Christmas? That didn't seem right. That wasn't coming for some time still. Then again... time traveler. So it didn't surprise her either.
You can catch her in Ten Forward, or you can catch her sneaking around halls. Well, not really sneaking, but she is exploring. Which is why she's a bit late to make it to her room to meet her roommate. She is roomed on Deck 9, 0921, and those she is interested in seeing this as well, she's taking her time looking around.
If by some chance you DO know Clara already and you are looking FOR her, a little bit later you CAN find her in room 0921, so please feel free to stop in and say hello.
