She may not know it, but she's got a bona fide super soldier on her side now. Steve looks like an average guy, but he's strong, confident, and holds himself like he knows what he's doing. If he can reassure her, he'll be happy to do what he can.

So he quirks a smile and gives her a respectful nod. She's a nice woman, and doesn't deserve to be pulled into whatever this is. "I'll do my best. Hang in there, and keep out of trouble."

He winks, and straights back up, scanning the room quickly for a good place to start. Seeing a group of officers, he moves off in their direction -- but not before giving Mrs. Adler a salute. She's the widow of a soldier, it doesn't matter which side he fought on.
