Confidence Issues Anyone? (OTA with Partial Plotlocks)
(Partially Plotlocked to Peggy Carter, Marion Scotts, Magento, Matt Murdock and Shadow. CW for in canon violence (Gotham) and mental health issues, also includes possible spoilers for late season 1/very early season 2 of Gotham)
Sure she was dealing as well as can be expected for a sudden surge of grand scale photographic memory (since she was on her 7th or 8th Data PADD of the morning so far). But she had an even bigger secret: being a survivor of not just workplace violence.
Kristen Kringle was hiding the fact she had been abused by a prior romantic partner.
She hid it well by letting everyone think she was simply a boring little file clerk. But in reality knew she could not hide behind her mask for much longer, especially since the nightmares of both his beatings and the shooting caused by the Manaix were starting to bleed together. So she kept shoving everything back for one reason especially: fear of being seen as weak.
There was also another secret: what little confidence she had when she was pulled onboard was quickly fading. Her quest to find a proper position had come to a stand still and she was floundering without having a sense of routine. Sure classes helped and kept her mind from stagnating even more. But she missed knowing there was things to do even if those things included backlogs of files being returned. She also had another fear: she could not even express being even a little interested in someone or speak up in class without wanting to panic.
"Easier to just unravel whatever is going on with becoming a memory sponge for now. Answers will come in time." she decided before diving into PADD number 9 and her 3rd pot of tea. She also was softly humming a classic jazz standard as she read.
