Gaheris was a little concerned about the presence of civilians, as the era that he came from meant that only High Guard trained professionals could hold roles. But simultaneously he decided that they must have valuable attributes beyond rank that made them useful on this expedition.

"I am curious about the dilithium crystals here." Even as he was speaking he was preparing to follow Geordi. "The fact that it's a finite resource would lead one to believe that if they were naturally occurring they would have been searched for and located before." Of course, as usual, Gaheris's inclinations leaned towards suspicious but he was dedicated to working out the details before he pursued any of his conclusions.

"I take it that warp drives aren't the only machinery that operates with dilithium crystals as a fuel source." Heaven help them if they walked down with some sort of super-weapon under construction.
