Open to All - To The Market We Go!

Booker was in the shops area, wandering, with Anne along for moral support, peering about, and looking for a last minute birthday gift. He had already gotten one small one, but he wanted more, and he wasn't sure what to get. Despite living with her, he had no real idea what to get to make Elizabeth happy. Though, the way things were going, it looked like it would soon be Samanosuke's job to do that. Maybe. Or later. Maybe.

Kids these days, always so confusing.

So he was wandering with a baby strapped to his chest, in a carrier, and looking confused.

****

Closed to Elizabeth: Later that evening.

After a few adventures, and after finally finding what he was looking for, Booker had come back to the rooms, put Anne down for a nap, and then baked a cake. He had found that he could replicate a one time use oven for baking if he wanted. It seemed silly, but it was apparently something you could do. The cake was tall, three layers, with two of chocolate, with one of vanilla sandwiched between the two. And it was frosted with a strawberry-vanilla frosting he had found. On top was a small Eiffel Tower and a ring of candles.

Next to the cake were two packages. The small one, the one he had gotten before, containing a music book for her with easy to learn lessons. The second one contained the present he had found while out. And now he waited for her to get home. Even if her birthday was the next day, he was intending to make sure she got something nice tonight.

Ishka can always be counted on to have advice about financial matters. Of course that extends to shopping and what to purchase. Why would it not? So she approaches him when he's looking a little lost.

And she has to admit, the baby attracts her attention too. It's a moogie thing, in every way she's ever been called that.

"You look like you could use some advice." She smiles at the man and then makes some somewhat sillier faces at the baby.

"Well, why don't you tell me a little about her? What are her hobbies?" Hobbies were always the best place to start from. They went beyond basic needs and that was exactly what made for a gift.

Talking business while keeping the baby entertained? This was her specialty.

"I like the sound of her." She has a soft spot for independent minded women. It's not easy to be one sometimes.

Of course, the baby made it simpler. "With a baby that young, she could do with something to remind her she's still her own person. No matter how much you love them, you don't want to forget about that. And it's easy, when they need their Moogie so much. A nice dress. Watch Anne a night so she can go dancing. She'd probably like some new music, too."

Ishka is not in fact a twelve year old mutant

"Even with universal translators, everyone likes to hear their own language. Really hear it. That would be good for the two of them." It was something she knew because it helped make customers happy and happy customers were spending customers. But she knew family too. "Right now she's probably used to mostly getting things for this little darling." Because the baby did seem quite sweet, even if human infants were a bit strange looking to Ferengi eyes. "Anything all for her is a good gift."

"When my boys were that small, I would have liked it." Not that it was very likely on Ferenginar right then. She'd tried to remind Prinadora, but it was never that simple. "And I do love them more than anything." Even more than latinum. Not that a Ferengi would ever say it.
