[Ten Forward]: Rooming Assignments + Holiday Open House!

Hmmm, something seems a little different about the Chief of Security today. His beautifully ridged countenance hasn't been seen for quite some time at the head of one of these little initiations, but now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new cattle for ship-wide access, and they've been carted around by Chief O'Brien on a tour of the ship, along with some background to the situation they now find themselves in, they've been mooooved right along to Lieutenant Worf in Ten Forward.

He looks at his data PADD, with all of his boring instructions and tedious details meticulously written out, and rolls his eyes. Rules, really? What harm could these people really do?

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, command centers, blah, blah-blah, blah blah, are all off-limits.

"Before you're assigned a room, there are a few rules you must obey, though I honestly don't know what could be done to stop you. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters, good grief, this list just goes on forever, doesn't it?

"They want you to read the Prime Directive?! Boring. If you care to see that drivel you can look it up on your own personal PADDs, which will be available in every room. Now, how about something more interesting?"

With a flick of his wrist, the PADD disappears. Cracking his knuckles, "Worf" proceeds to snap his fingers and a flurry of snow whooshes through the room. When the proverbial dust settles, Ten Forward has been decked out in an array of holiday cheer. The windows are frosted, the bar is dusted in snow, a model train choo-choos its way around people's ankles out one door and back in the other. There is a traditional Earth tree in one corner with an endless pile of gifts stacked under it, but other worlds, cultures, and religions have not been left out. Everywhere one looks, there's a different kind of festive decoration.

"La, dee dum, dum," Worf hums, snapping his fingers again and causing a spread of food and drinks to appear on each and every table and surface: candies, cakes, mulled wines, chocolates, pheasants, yams, bol'ghba, and an abundance of other unpronounceable delicacies. "There. Now isn't that better? Never say I didn't do anything for you.

"Oh! That's right, the rooms," he recalls, clapping his hands. He pulls the PADD back out of the ether, reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

Deck 07, Section 4
Room # 0713 - Kristen Kringle and Kuvira
Room # 0731 - Olan'atar and Sophia Inks
Room # 0737 - Bonnie Barstow and KITT (hologram)
Room # 0746 - Sterling Archer and Kira

Deck 8
Room # 0147 - T'Pol and Katniss Everdeen

Deck 9
Room # 0919 - Henry Mills and Matt Murdock
Room # 0921 - Pete Lattimer and Clara Oswald

"Now, won't that be fun?" Worf concludes, with a large, toothy grin. "Remember, it's only fun until Captain Picard has a heart attack, and then your actions are all on your own heads. Oh! Speaking of heads ... "

With one last snap, the Lieutenant in full dress before them morphs into what appears to be a Caucasian human male. No vestiges of the Klingon remain, and as such the man now lets out a long, grateful sigh. "It's good to be home."

For the foreseeable future, Ten Forward will remain in this state, and the doors to the guest quarters will stay open so each new arrival along with the old faithful can experience the full joy and beauty of the holiday season with each other. The corridors are all covered in frost, a pleasant nip in the air, and over the internal comms a song begins to play. The list of new assignments is also displayed on a PADD in Ten Forward, where people can refer to it if they need to.

[ooc: Happy Holidays, at least for the next few days! This log is both a party post for holiday shenanigans and an open log for new roomies (or old ones!) to build CR and meet their neighbors. We'll have a few special holiday top levels for gifts, but otherwise you can tag directly into the post with your character, their room number, and who they're looking for (or leave it OTA)!

Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There's a post in the OOC comm for OOC questions and comments! If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. The tour given by Chief O'Brien is not open for tagging; you can assume your character had any basic questions answered. ]

Room # 0921 - Pete Lattimer and Clara Oswald (OTA for Pete, too!)

Oh my god, this is seriously the coolest thing that's ever happened to him. It's like watching a really weird British pantomime version of Star Trek, and he loves it. He only wishes he had a bucket of popcorn and some candy to nosh on. It might have made things less awkward when he was pretty much the only one in the room laughing and cheering during Q's performance.

Way to make friends and influence people, Lattimer.

He's a little wary about being roomed with someone he doesn't know when both Myka and H.G. are on the ship. Number one, because he's still not totally convinced that he hasn't been whammied, and everything people have told him so far does not sound like good odds at getting un-whammied. Number two, because he's on a ship full of fictional people, or at least who he thought were fictional people until now (seriously, how can this not be an Artifact?!), and he's already gotten the "Pete, don't touch things, Pete, don't cause trouble, Pete, don't say anything stupid" speech. Nobody has any faith in him.

But okay, they have a point.

He raps his knuckles against the jamb when he approaches the open door, poking his head into the room. "Uh. Clara Oswald?" he calls, just in case she's already in there. Seriously, it's going to be really awkward rooming with a girl. Especially one that's not Myka. "Hellooooo?"

He starts poking around the room, touching everything in sight. Well, that's one rule already broken. At least he doesn't recognize the name 'Clara Oswald', so hopefully rules two and three stay totally intact. He wonders who his next door neighbors are?

[ooc: check out Pete's entry for more info + my contact info if needed!]

The Doctor had taken to checking out the ship's manifest as soon as he knew it would be updated. And this one was very particular. It had a name he recognised. Though, to be fair, Oswald and Clara weren't exactly uncommon names. It was possible it could be another with the same name.

But he couldn't resist checking it out. So, he makes his way to the designated room. He knocks on the door. Bracing himself for disappointment. When the door is answered by a man, the Doctor looks down at the PADD and back at the door. Sure the name said 'Pete Lattimer', but the name wasn't one he recognised, so it didn't matter.

"I'm... looking for Clara Oswald..."

Pete's been moved in for a grand total of one minute, so he's not really expecting any visitors. That's gonna be his excuse if Eyebrows asks why he just answered the door with a "whoa" and a laugh.

"I'm so glad to hear you say that, man, because for a minute I was like, oh my god, is this her?" he chuckles, delivering that story with stage voices and gestures included. He sets his hand on his hip and gets the distinct impression that the joke didn't hit home. "Uh," he says, moving out of his way, "yeah, me too. I'm Pete. Pete Lattimer. I was told Miss Oswald was gonna be my roommate."

He cracks his knuckles, and holds up both hands. "Or ... Mrs. Oswald?"

So help him. A human who thinks they're funny. Something about 'pudding-brain' gets mumbled under his breath. He was in a good mood until that. Though, to be completely fair, the fact that Clara hasn't turned up to her room yet was very disturbing.

"Yes. Given the resident listing, and knowing that you weren't Clara, I figured as much. Clara and I travel together. I'm the Doctor."
hey_heyhey: ([smiling] whoa that's cool)

[personal profile] hey_heyhey 2016-01-23 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, Pete is funny. Just ask My... okay, just ask Clau... well, he could just ask Arrr... "Yeah, that's fair," Pete mumbles under his breath, smiling tightly as the Doctor enters the room.

"Nice to meet you, Doctor Oswald," Pete says, holding out his hand for a shake. "Listen, I've, uh. I've got a girlfriend ... partner. Well, she was my partner, but now she's my girlfriend. I mean, she's still my partner, but now we're also, you know, we're..." What are you doing, Pete? "What I mean is you don't have to worry about me trying anything with your 'traveling companion'."

Air quotes included.

He pulled a face at the 'Doctor Oswald' bit. "No, no, no no. Just 'the Doctor.'"

A friend that he will make Pete's life very difficult should anything happen to Clara, but just friend, nonetheless. And Pete's babbling about something, as the Doctor takes in the room and examines it. And it's quiet for a few seconds before the Doctor notices it's quiet.

"Oh, sorry stopped listening awhile ago." He holds up a hand. "No need to repeat it. I don't care."

Because he hadn't heard anything that would make him worry for Clara being assigned to this room.

She's late. Not that there was a TIME for these things, but checking out her room wasn't top priority. Not yet at least. So she might have just missed the Doctor, give or take a bit of time. Or had she? She's not even sure yet that he's here. That wasn't the first thing on her mind when she DID show up, and after? Well... she's a bit fuzzy on all this still.

Finding the door that was said to her her new room and... room mate? She opened it and peeked in, head first, unsure, wondering and careful. "Hello?" And then came fully in, door closing behind her making her jump a bit. Okay, so this is her new... living quarters? It's like from a TV show. It really is. It was so strange to be here.

Slowly she came further in, hands behind her back, so not to touch anything. She felt like a kid in a china shop, not wanting to get into trouble, even if this was her room.

"Helllloo?" She called again, accent thick and curious.

Clara Oswald, meet your roommate: Pete. Pete is leaving one of the side bedrooms wearing a robe over his jeans and t-shirt, carrying a model spaceship replica under one arm, a PADD under the other, holding a bag of what suspiciously looks like gummy worms, and wearing a sleep mask with a Starfleet insignia embroidered on one corner.

Pete has no qualms with touching things.

"Oh, hay!" he shouts, like he's genuinely excited to see her, pulling the sleep mask off his head, which musses his hair, which just adds to the crazy person look he's got going on. "Gummy worm?" he offers, pointing behind him in the vague direction of the replicator. "They're free."

This is your life now, Clara. Years of knowing the Doctor have trained you for this moment.
braveheart_clara: (General: Stare watch huh)

[personal profile] braveheart_clara 2016-01-07 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Clara stopped in the middle of the room, looking at a man in jeans and a robe and his arms FULL of things. Okay, that wasn't at all what she expected. Actually, she hadn't had time to think over what she expected to meet or see in here. Maybe she should have, but she didn't even think, and now here she was, looking at a man with a smile the size of the Doctor (one of them) offering gummy worms for free.

Her head tilted a bit, taking in the picture of... him. And after a moment she came closer, taking one of the offered gummy worms, popping the head end into her mouth and letting it catch on her canines, tugging it off with a soft snap. She then grinned, giving her nod of approval and a slow growing smile.

Smiles were hard at the moment, as she had some things she was concerned about, but she did manage one now. A soft one. "Free hmm? You'll have to show me how later." She had a good idea at least, but still. "Pete Lattimer?" She questioned after a moment, you know, just to make sure.
