gym - cyr wheel
The first thing Chekov had done upon hearing they weren't quarantined any more was to go to his room, check it out, and request a set of gym clothes from a replicator. The next thing was to find the gym and stretch out. Few people know he likes athletic pursuits so much; he looks tiny in that uniform and it hides the muscle mass he manages to gain, sadly.
And he hasn't told many people that before he decided to join Starfleet, he'd desperately wanted to join a circus and learn how to bend and twist and spin like the people he'd been to see on trips with his parents. Those explanations, he thinks, would be tedious in the extreme. But all the long conversations in the world could not stop him from grinning like a little boy on finding the gymnastic equipment, including a simple metal wheel that the ensign navigator is having an awful lot of fun with. It's been a while since he played with a cyr wheel, but it's sort of like a bicycle. You remember the tricks eventually.

When he had his information all organized for future reading, he then happened to poke his head into the gym...where he saw a most fascinating gymnastics display.
He smiled his approval at the athlete. "Wow, I've never seen anything like it. How long did you have to practice?"

"Oh, no. I hawe been able to use ze roue Cyr since I vas little. Wery small."

Billy slips in further, suitably impressed by all the maneuvering. It almost makes him long to fly free again.
"Gymnastics must be a universal constant, I suppose. You were really good."
no subject
"Are you a gymnast also?"
no subject
"I was never athletic when I was younger---I started out wanting to be an inventor, and I've always pursued that, but one of my best friends is a stellar gymnast. She decided to train me, so I learned a few things."
He looks over his shoulder, an idea forming. "I should probably put my data down. Will you still be here in a minute or two?"
