From Malfoy Manor To Outer Space? (OTA, TW for torture and its effects)

At that moment in Ten Forward a young woman was winked into a world very different from the world she knew as a witch.

Her jeans were badly frayed, her sweater badly damaged and hanging onto a much too thin frame. Her hair was badly tangled and she was covered in cuts and bruises. She also looks like she's not slept in ages among other problems. Anyone could see something had happened before Q winkled her aboard the Enterprise but how bad was it?

But a couple of things would stand out despite the darkness: the wand currently tucked behind a few loose strands of blonde hair and especially the jewelry. Mostly since not many people would openly wear what looked to be a pair of radishes as earrings.

But when Luna Lovegood realized she was not in Malfoy Manor or even the Wizarding World her eyes seemed to regain some of that lost light. "So curious! Maybe there are crumple horned snorkacks or even moon frogs here!" she weakly giggled. But she kept a very wary eye on the scene around her, a Death Eater could be lurking around any corner ready to hurt her once again (she was skittish but with very good reason). Thankfully she knew her wand was within reach but her wrist was also killing her pain wise.

She did eventually whisper,"Harry? Ron? Hermione? Anyone here?"

"I don't think death is something you can eat..." He pondered aloud. If it was, the replicators would know.

He took her hand, and held it gently, but securely. She looked exhausted, weak, possibly hurt. "What happened to you?"

This was the part Luna had been dreading, just how do you explain months of torture and a war on the verge of breaking out? "Was sure my apparition spell had simply backfired. So much was going on when we got broken out of the manor."

Minoru didn't know what apparition spells were, but she said she'd been broken out. She'd definitely been held captive somewhere, and from her reaction, he could guess the extent of the atrocities. His heart went out to her.

"It's all right. It's over now. I can help you." He reassured her. "You're not scared of snakes, are you?"

[radishearring]

"Not afraid of snakes, actually got a friend who can speak snake otherwise called parseltongue." Luna cracked a smile now, tiny but a sign the girl she really was had no gone anywhere. "My name's Luna."

"My name's Minoru."

With a quick surge of energy, he changed form. His skin was suddenly covered in white scales, and horns stuck out from that black mane of hair. If that wasn't strange enough, a snake started literally growing out of his wrist.

"This won't hurt. But it will give you energy and chakra. Start to heal you from the inside."

Said snake bore its fangs, aiming to bite her.

Luna was somewhat spooked but hide it well since her inner Ravenclaw was having a small field day over the snake. Her problems were too many after what felt like months in the manor but she was seeing a good chunk of the minor wounds starting to go away. "I'm a witch so I have to ask, how does your powers work??" lighting up for a split second.

He knew he couldn't fully bring her mind out of what she must have experienced, at least not right away. But he could help with the physical effects of captivity, make sure she didn't just drop where she stood.

"I'm a Snake Sage." He smiled. He'd met other witches before, including one aboard the Enterprise. "I use my own energy - we call it 'chakra' - mix it with natural energy I've absorbed and direct it."

In this case, that mix of energies was what he needed to transform, but it was his own chakra that he was feeding into her veins. He always had plenty to spare, and she definitely needed it more than he did. After a few minutes, she would feel less exhausted, better nourished and be in less pain. It may only be a drop in the bucket, but to an empty bucket, a drop can be bigger than an entire ocean!

"Now that is a new one at least in terms of magic!" as color started to return to Luna's face and she looked much less ready to pass out. She decided no harm in making the offer to Minoru, "Want to see a spell circa my world?" knowing in her state she could risk a low key charm to show how she made her wand look like a chopstick. But at the same time knowing there was more magic users around did perk her spirits.

Minoru's powers were the result of chakra, or his actual life energy, being used. Granted, chakra can be replenished, but imagining what she must have just gone through, he was concerned.

"I'd love to!" he grinned. "But don't use too much chakra."

He paused. "Where do your powers come from?"

Luna nodded as she eased the wand from her hair,"Routine transfiguration spell in this case. I'll make it so that my wand looks like a typical Chinese takeout chopstick." she explained. She spoke the simple transfiguration spell and her wand went from looking like a typical wand to a chopstick. She added,"When among non witches and wizards its an easy way to keep my wand near but without a lot of questions." as she slid the wand back into her hair.

His snake was still pumping her with chakra, so part of his mind was focused on that. But he still watched, and what he saw made him curious.

"Transfiguration..." he pondered aloud. "How do you do that? Your magic?"

[radishearring]

"In my world magic is just a part of who we are, We're basically born with but there are also half bloods who only have one magical parent and some without any magical roots at all." Luna explained.

[itmeanstruth]

"In my world, everyone's born with at least some chakra." he explained as well. "Some people have more chakra than others. But we all have to learn how to use it. I was a natural at fire. But everything else took a lot of training. And a little help."

After a few minutes, he eased his snake back, and let his Sage Mode vanish. The snakelike characteristics disappeared.

"How does you feel?"

"We have that in common. There are schools for magic in my world, I go to one called Hogwarts." Luna explained. "A bit better, not wanting to pass out at least." since there was color in the blonde's face again and some of the more minor cuts and bruises were gone.

[itmeanstruth]

"That's good. I'd still try to take it easy for a little while." He smiled softly. "Rest and regain your strength. Get a nutritious meal in you."

Ten Forward would be a great place to take her next. Minoru was always hungry, regardless.

"My village just called their school the Academy." He explained, leading her down the hall. "I didn't start studying with the snakes until I graduated though. Training at Ryuuchi Cave was more like an apprenticeship, I guess."

[radishearring]

Luna could only nod, if she was being honest she was not sure if she could keep anything down. "There are other schools, I know of two in France and part of Russia." she offered while thinking of more friends.

[itmeanstruth]

Okay, perhaps nutritious as in soup broth. And a trip to sickbay after that...

"The surrounding villages have Academies too. Every other year, the villages get together and host a big promotion exam." he added. "I've never taken it, but my brother did. He was one of two that passed that time around."

That was so long ago, but Minoru still remembered it like it was yesterday. It was a big day for both of them.

"Do your schools ever get together like that?"

[radishearring]

"Do you guys have anything like the Tri-Wizards Cup?" Luna asked. "Because we have that: its part contest and part exchange since students form other schools come to the host school, Hogwarts was host during my 4th year." she explained.

[itmeanstruth]

"That sounds a lot like our Chuunin exams." He nodded. "Different villages take turns hosting shinobi from the other countries. And the final round of the test is a big tournament, with the remaining participants fighting one-on-one. You don't have to win the tournament to pass the test, but the longer you last, the more opportunities you have to show all the village leaders what you can do."

It wasn't something Minoru had actually participated in. As soon as he graduated from the Academy, he left to study under the Great Snake Lord Elders - walking out in the middle of his genin certification exam to do it too. (That was when he was 12. He's 42 now.)

"My brother Isamu was amazing when he took it. One of only two who passed that year!"

Luna nodded, the talk of her and Minoru's worlds keeping her brain from spinning back into the manor. "Very cool!" she cracked a smile. "We have testing too, the OWLS and the NEWTS depending on your year." she offered. "But my friends twin brothers left before tests to open a novelty shop, they are quite successful since there is always a need for pranks and fun!" thinking of Fred and George since they always had a way of seeing the bright side.

There was no better way to chase off bad thoughts than good thoughts!

Minoru chuckled at the story of the Weasley brothers. "I can relate to that... Never thought of opening up a shop for it, though."

He did his fair share of pranks when he was little. He shared a couple anecdotes of sneaking not only out of the house, but also past the village gates after curfew. Granted, when you live in a shinobi village, this was no laughing matter. He probably cost several guards their mission pay.

"Papa was the Hokage, the leader of the village." he laughed. "I sure didn't make things easy on him."

His stunt with walking out on his genin certification exam was, by far, the worst. Snake Sages didn't have very good reputations, and it took all of his father's skill in diplomacy to keep his son from being labeled a traitor and added to the bingo book for assassination.
