The Great Chemist's Baking Fail [OTA]

Aidan had spent all afternoon in the holodeck bakery he'd created for himself, making and remaking two elaborate cakes until they were as close to perfect as he felt he could get. And what's the purpose of gorgeous, delicious cake? To be eaten, of course. He set them both on a small cart and began pushing them towards Ten Forward. They'd be eaten the fastest there and honestly, he couldn't wait to hear what they'd think about his work.

But then something went wrong.

Maybe the ship hit a bump in its usually smooth flight. Maybe he took a corner too fast. Maybe someone wasn't looking and ran into him. Whatever the cause, Aidan and his desserts tumbled towards the floor. He reached for them, trying to keep at least one intact in its covered dish....

[OOC: The first cake is a Swedish princess cake and the second is a tiramisu cake. I'm open to any sort of reaction people want to play out.]

"Hah. I know that feeling. My Uncle Aidan's a baker and you do not want to be around him when he accidentally drops a cake."

Kale carefully nudges the cakes closer to the middle so they have less of a chance toppling off again.

That made him pause and blink several times. Creepy.

"...that's really weird. My name's Aidan, too, but I just bake as a hobby. My day job's a lot dirtier and usually louder."

Kale blinks back at him.

Because yes, creepy.

"... Huh. That is a weird coincidence. Especially since Uncle Aidan's hobby is dirtier and louder."

[toomanynitrogens]

"This place is weird." It's one thing to be told about other worlds and another to hear about someone eerily similar to him. But he'll never be an uncle, just one of dozens of cousins. "But since you know my name already, what's yours?"

[engineermage]

"It really is," he agreed and then held out a hand, "I'm Kale."

[toomanynitrogens]

He shook the offered hand, knowing it would be a weird sensation for Kale with his lack of fingers. "Nice to meet you. And thanks for saving my cakes."

[engineermage]

Well, Kale's wearing his gloves so they're both getting weird sort of sensations. "It's important to save the cake. It's nice to meet you."

[toomanynitrogens]

"Nice to meet you too. Wanna come with me, feed some people, and get to eat a bit yourself?" It only felt fair to let Kale have a slice since he'd kept it from becoming crumbs.

"That sounds absolutely brilliant. I'm always up for trying someone's cooking ... or baking in this case."

With that, he finishes rolling the cart into Ten Forward and cuts them. The tiramisu cake is just like its regular dessert form, full of coffee flavor and a hint of alcohol. The other, a Swedish princess cake, is layers of sponge cake and pastry cream topped with a dome of whipped cream, all covered in green marzipan.
