Matt stood at Ben Urich's grave trying to feel anything, but rage. First Elena and now Ben had gotten caught in the web of Wilson Fisk and suffered for it. He wanted to go after Fisk right at this moment and rip the man apart for everything he'd done, but that had gone so well the last time that Matt was still healing from the wounds he'd gotten from that clash. It didn't stop Matt from wanting to kill in the name of those he lost and his fists clench inside his gloves even as Karen walks up to comfort him. He doesn't feel her gentle hand on his arm and doesn't react when she steps close.

He doesn't want comfort right now, he wants justice. Comfort feels like nothing, but empty words and empty gestures. Justice though is hot and fast and would settle his mind and save his city. He's ready to go and burn down everything Fisk has ever made before Fisk can get his fingers in more of Hell's Kitchen's pies. He turns to head back to the office and that's when everything changes.

Suddenly Matt is surrounded by heartbeats too strange to be real. Some have double the sound and others skip and still others have a deepness that cannot be human. He takes a step forward and is now overwhelmed with voices and smells he's never encountered before. His normal steady gait falters and he falls to the ground with a soft grunt. Where there had been firm ground there was now carpet. What the hell had just happened to him?

He tries to push himself up, but the noise and smell continue to over whelm him and he can't figure out how to center himself. Never one to ask for help if he doesn't need it, Matt calls out into the noise. "Please someone help me? Where am I?"

"Anytime. I know this has to be a total loop to borrow the expression." Thea added. "And I know this is going to sound pretty headcase worthy but you're in space on a starship called the Enterprise." she explained as honestly as she could. "And I'm Thea." setting her hand atop the table in case simple connection was needed.

Matt is hesitant to reach out just now as unsettled as he is. "I'm Matt," he says softly, "Dare I ask how I wound up on a ship that smells like a bunch of robots live in it?"

"You should know sooner or later." Thea offered. "We've been snagged by a being known as Q, yes I know it sounds like a bad movie." making a weak try at humor. "There's people that are from Earth and not from Earth and its still throwing me and I've been here for a few months now." she offered. That was when she made the decision to share a small portion of what happened to her,"Not sure if this will even help but when I got pulled here I came to in sickbay, passed out." leaving out the part about being stabbed by Ra's Al Ghul for now.

"That actually explains a lot," Matt replies, "the different heartbeats, the strange smells, This is not New York for sure."

"New York is only a train ride from Starling City, that is where I got pulled from." Thea offered. "I know its strange but you are not facing this alone by any means." She finally got the courage to ask,"But what do you mean by different heartbeats?" hoping she could even ask without sounding rude or worse. But for now her hand stayed atop the table, the offer of connection open.

Matt considers how to explain, Claire and Foggy had gotten pretty freaked out when he'd revealed to them how he could hear heartbeats, so he decided to explain as simply as he could. "My senses compensated when I became blind. I can hear other people's heartbeats and they don't all sound the same." He slides his hand over hers and smiles. "Yours is like a bird actually, high and a bit fast."

Thea was not shocked in the least: after all she knows of people that can run at super speed to name some of the things she's seen and heard about over the last few years. "I don't remember the exacts but I know the idea, its how the other senses pick up the slack to cover what's missing." she nods. She revealed,"Not usually that nervous, its been a weird few weeks on so many fronts." shivering slightly before reaching for her coat.

"Are you cold," Matt asks and he slides off his scarf and coat with ease. His senses feel much more settled now. He carefully hands them over. "Here these are both wool they should help you feel warmer."

"Basically, inner temp has been kinda haywire since I've lost weight. Doctors reassure me once I gain a few more pounds the meat locker feeling will go away." Thea was honest. It was like something in her knew she could be true and not live in fear anymore. But she does accept Matt's offer of the coat, for now deciding against the scarf. Her hand slides back over his once she gets the coat on as a little more comes into the light,"Part of that whole weird few weeks thing."

"I feel you," Matt says with a sympathetic wince, "got on the wrong side of someone myself recently. I'm still healing in places too. Keep the coat as long as you need it okay. I'm dressed pretty warmly as it is so I don't need it back right away."

Matt's confession was all Thea needed to gather the courage to spill a little more,"Ra's Al Ghul had just stabbed me, passed out and came to in sickbay complete with loop throw." but a tiny smile of thanks escaped her. "I'm almost ok on the physical level, its just mental and emotional fallout now. Let's just say I don't exactly listen when it comes to not shoving my feelings, stopped eating and sleeping for the better part of a month." sounding a little ashamed at how far she had slipped into darkness.

"I have no idea who that is, but if his name sounds as badass as he does then I guess it's good that you're here and no where near him anymore," Matt says.

"He's bad news." Thea left the tale of Ra's Al Ghul at that for now. "So being here is better, I've just got a lot to learn when it comes to actually dealing with things like a normal person." she mused. "But at the same time it sounds like being here can only be good for you too." she mused.

"I need some down time," Matt says with a nod, "some friends of mine got mixed in my mess and they died. I'm trying to grieve, but it's hard I keep wanting to go after the guy who killed them."

"Know the feeling." Thea left it at that for now, but for her it was when it came to the people she cares for and wants to somehow protect. She softly squeezed Matt's hand,"But I also think you've gained a friend in me."

Matt smiles and nods. "Yes I did," he says, "it's like fate me meeting you first thing. God does work in mysterious ways doesn't he?"

"I love that idea actually." Thea admits. "The idea of fate having a hand in things to matter how small. That little moment of us linking and becoming friends can only be good for both of us."

"I like to think so," Matt says with a nod, "a friend of mine is always saying I find what I need just when I need it."

"I like that idea." Thea whispered. "Someone loves to remind me things fall into place when the timing is right and never before. This time its only a good thing for both of us. You and I are only beginning but in the best sense."
