[pacifica - beach - ota]

Sinthia rarely leaves the ship, honestly; she's lived most of her life indoors, and in cold climes, and beaches with bright sun and no walls are a little uncomfortably odd to her. It helps to know this about the girl, because she's currently standing in the sun with her (lightest) gray denim trousers rolled up to her calves, staring at the water lapping over her ankles as if she's incredibly suspicious of its motives.

When a wavelet laps a little too high and gets the roll of her jeans wet, she frowns expressively and simply lifts herself out of the water, although she's wobbly in the unfamiliar atmosphere. It will last, toes dripping excess drops into the ocean, until she's startled.

At which point you may have a wet eight-year-old on your hands. Good luck with that.

Ayesh had been taking a break from her workout when she noticed the child. She allowed herself a frown, before she schooled her expression. She watched a bit longer, then strode over as the child seemed to flat above the water. She crossed her arms and waited to be acknowledged. If she wasn't, she would speak. Though to be fair, she would say the same words once spoken to as well.

"If you let your distaste of the water master you, you shall not over come it," she said simply. There was no censure in her voice or on er face, both were carefully neutral, giving away nothing.

She wore, rather than her customary jacket and leggings, a two piece swim suit that hid little of her tattoos, leaving the sunbursts on her arms, the grasses and reeds on her legs, and the moon and stars on her stomach all bare for the world to see. She was an older adult, but fit, and she had no shame about her body. She had asked the replicator for a swim suit in her size and this was what she had been given. She was not fully aware that it was meant to be a children's suit, more or less. Or young teen. She was fairly small. The only other thing she wore was her knapsack, which seemed omnipresent where she was concerned.

"Overcoming things is a way to learn, and to be less limited. Swimming is also a way to have more control over your own life. But there is also nothing wrong with watching the fish," she said simply. "There is often a simple and understated beauty in that. A joy, even."
