In Ten Forward | Boredom leads to questionable hobbies... | OTA
It's hard for her to believe that Rory has been gone a whole year now. Her Raggedy Man has finally come, and she thought once that had happened Rory would be back, but no such luck yet. She's been keeping a close eye on her Doctor for fear he disappears on her, too.
On the contrary, more of him keep showing up.
Christmas set her in a mood. She wants to do something for the Doctors; a dinner party or fancy dress, maybe. He likes that. In all the time she's travelled in the TARDIS it's never felt lonely, but out here she misses her family and her husband, and the Doctor is all she really has. Even her daft flatmate has gone missing. Without her permission, to add insult.
So, it's distraction that puts her in Ten Forward tonight, for the most part. That and she's been down to the planet they're currently at, and seeing all the happy faces and peaceful couples set her in another mood. A mood to meddle. Annie's gone and gotten herself married, which means Amy is in the market for somebody new to give her the good gossip.
♥ Amy Pond's Blind Dating Service ♥
She's got a sign on her table, and another two on the doors going in and out of the lounge with her table number written on it. Currently she's sitting with her legs crossed, doodling flowers and little tornadoes in the margins of her clipboard paper, waiting for her first unsuspectingvictim client.
[OOC: ETA a top-level specifically for the IC sign-up sheet. If you want to establish IC your character signing up without threading with Amy you can post them in on this top-level, or leave it OTA so others can tag you with reactions, questions, comments, etc!]

When she saw the clip board and sign up sheet from across the way, her curiosity was peaked as most people used PADDs and such. Getting a bit closer, she read the sign and stood there, an undecided but curious expression on her face.
On one hand, it would be participating in something she'd never done before. On the other- dating.
After a moment or two deliberating, she decided the idea of meeting someone appealed even so, and sat down.
"How does this work?"

"You are gonna let me find you a date," she says, just as sure as if she'd said 'the sky is blue today' or 'water is wet.'
She folds her arms across the tabletop as Grainne takes a seat, eyes sparkling.
"Simple, really," she says; "I take your name, ask you a few questions, we put your info down on this sheet an' then I find you someone to 'ave dinner with on Valentine's Day."

She's got the hands of a mechanic, and Amy wonders where she's just come in from.
"If you're lookin' to meet someone new, what happens is I take down your info and pair you up with somebody who's got similar interests," she explains, showing Ed the sheet.
She smiles slyly.
"And I'm good at what I do," she adds.

SIGN-UP SHEET (OTA)
At the start of the night the sheet is empty, but as people wander by it slowly fills up with their details. All the confidential stuff goes straight into Amy's notes, but this sheet simply has: Name, Age, Room Number, and Gender/Species.
Wonder who's signed up so far?
[OOC: If you want to establish IC that your character has signed up without threading with Amy, drop your character under this subheading. You can leave it OTA if you like to thread with others as they wander by the sign-ups sheet.]

Re: SIGN-UP SHEET (OTA)
That itself is enough to gt Noriko's attention, given how little of it there seems to ever be on this boat. And upon investigation...that's actually something that sounds fun. Why not? Noriko hasn't been on a blind date in forever.

She rests her chin in her hand and grins at Thea, eyes dancing with mischief.
"I'll need more details to give you my professional opinion," she says, quite seriously.
It's all entirely professional, of course.

She runs a clean business here, thank you very much!
Holding out her hand, she introduces herself.
"Amy Pond, at your service," she says. "Are you lookin' for a Valentine, or just hopin' to meet someone new?"

"Vhat's de list for, dollink?" he inquired. "Zometing Valentine's Day-ish, ja?"
no subject
(Or maybe just stubborn enough to row with a replicator until she got what she wanted. That is also distinctly possible.)
"Ja," Amy nods (and it isn't mean-spirited at all despite German obviously not being her mother tongue, it's delighted); "Blind datin'. You sign up, I find you a match for dinner on Valentine's Day, and you thank me later."
That last bit is a little cheeky.
"Where are you ..." she pauses, trying not to be terribly obvious while she gives him a looking-over; "... from?"

what's that did you say you wanted more redheads
Although she does, briefly, eyeball that sign on Amy's table. Blind Dating Service. It sounded like a terrible idea to her, of course (going into anything with a shortage of intel sounded awful), but she was really in no position to judge what worked for
normalother people, statistical outlier that she was. Not that any of it really seemed to work all that well for them, but...of course she wants more redheads, you're entering a fine commune with amy pond as your leader... er
She doesn't know that at the off, of course. But she's hit a lull in sign-ups now, and she's impatient enough to start hunting for them herself. She's at her table with her chin propped in one hand and her pen tapping furiously in the other, keen eyes darting about until they land on the ginger.
She looks familiar, but just in the way everyone around here looks familiar when you walk by them enough times.
"Oi," she calls, folding her arms and leaning in, eyes sparkling; "you want me to find you a date for Sunday night."
It's not a question.
why is it I'm feeling Amy as the Jack Sparrow to Jackal's Barbossa in this exchange...
haven't the faintest, mate! :3

"So, hi!" Yes, he is silly, but that never stopped Alex Rory Rogan from being himself.
no subject
Is Amy unhappy about it? No.
She whoops in surprise as Alex all but careens into her arms, laughing delightedly.
"Was I making it too hard to know where I was?" she teases.
"Hello! 'ow have you been? Are you signin' up again this year?"

Might be fun to see what comes of this. She stops and just tilts her head eyeballing the table. "....So. Anyone interesting come on over?"

Never hurts to compliment a potential client. Amy pillows her chin in her hands, and nods to the empty seat across from her.
"Had a few fit lads and some bright ladies, depending on what your poison is," she adds; "and you can sign up for somethin' more platonic, if you want."

This was not what she expected to see. She's just stood staring at the sign. Correction, signs.
Cautiously Amy approached the table. She didn't know what to expect. It just was very odd seeing her name, well, name she used being used.
One thing is Amy is not going to be joining in.
no subject
She's had a rather good turnout this year, so it won't hurt anything if the other Amy doesn't participate.
(Not that she knows what's going on behind that wary expression.)
"Don't be shy, I won't bite," she says, a small burst of laughter following the words.
She holds out her hand, and as if the signs weren't enough she says:
"Amelia Pond."

She always likes meeting other species. The farther they look from Human, the better.
Pillowing her chin in her hand, she teases him a bit.
"Is that, or is that not, a euphemism?" she asks, waggling her eyebrows.

Late tag in! But HI!!!
Her small familiar - a transparent cat sized beastie that looked like a dragon but was NOT a Dragon - flew around over head.
