[Sickbay]: Round 21 Scans and Vaccines

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.
If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.
"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
[ooc: Sickbay is, as always, OTA and open until the next one goes up for latecomers! For new characters: tagging isn't mandatory but IC going to sickbay is. If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. There will be a post up in the OOC comm shortly with more details about Sickbay and which doctors are on deck this month, if you have any questions.]

Maintaining her 'public' face.
He scoops some eggs onto his plate.
"I suppose today should be spent figuring out how...getting on a planet works and which ones are good. I wonder if there's some...equivalent to a library."

A joke, of sorts.
Also, steak. That's going in her belly before anything else, and he's an excellent roomie for ordering it. Points to Erik.
"Probably," she replies after a mouthful of delicious cow. How a thing in a wall got perfectly cooked steak is a wonder not of this world. Literally. "Given how many people are here from all kinds of other places, it's probably like a cruise ship in some aspects. There'll be amenities. Or an information kiosk."

"Too bad if they do," is the straightforward reply. "Just because they dragged us here doesn't mean we've completely lost our autonomy. There are probably enough pissed off passengers that the question probably isn't that rare."
no subject
"We can give it a try," he says, scooping up a forkful of eggs himself. "In the meantime, we can see what supplies we can secure from the machine to take with us and work on training."
no subject
"We're here a day and you already want your ass handed to you."

Her grin doesn't disappear despite the eggs and steak that make it past.

"I didn't use the word 'old'," he teased back. "But if the shoe fits..."
no subject
"Oh, I see. Old and a shoe. You're so charming, all the time!"
no subject
"I'm known for it," he says with a smirk.
no subject
"Yeah, I've heard that."
Another bite of breakfast, and she adds, "But training is a good idea. I have no idea what being in space will do to our bodies."
no subject
"They have gravity, so maybe it doesn't, but better safe than sorry."
no subject
"But it's artificial, right? Is it even the same? There are people from other worlds here, too - what if they're not versions of Earth? What if it's a sort of..." she pauses, thinking, "...I don't know, average gravity?"
How does gravity even work like that, really? And shouldn't it be based on spinning, like the world does? Is the ship spinning? Will they know if it is? It's too early for this. She needs coffee.
no subject
"Average gravity? If it were very different from Earth, wouldn't we feel it?" he suggested. "We'd feel extra heavy or we'd float a bit when we walked."
no subject
"I don't know if we would," she replies after a moment. "I mean, what if we're already acclimated? What if-- ah, I don't know enough about it. But artificial anything isn't good for a body, in general. I'd rather be on a planet, even if it's not ours, than floating around out here."
