Ashley looks much like a startled cat in the way that she jumps when John speaks, and she shoves her hand behind her back reflexively, hiding her morpher-slash-communicator. Even if the secret is out on earth, living over a year as a ranger makes protecting the secret reflexive.

Considering this guy looks human, and the people in the hall had probably also been human, that would make sense to her.
