Talk like a pirate day - kitty edition
Parrots.
Oh gods.
Parrots everywhere.
Veena is going nuts and Trever hasn't been able to control her.
Hence there can be found around the ship, the sudden fearful squawkings of parrots as a black cat teleports right onto them. And then is knocked off... and then chasing after... followed by another attack... lather, rinse repeat...
Followed by a rather exasperated Trever.
But dude.

for when the mun has time and brain...
Which one of the parrots has stolen. So, leaving her fiance to be useless and sing along to sea-shanties, Annie had run off after the parrot. The parrot who Veena, in the hallway outside Ten Forward, pounces on.
There's a squawk. A puff of feathers. A dropped hat. A...
A victor who is currently staring at the hallway in confusion.
Not completely frozen: she's still got enough looseness in her joints to run if she has to, or hit the deck and roll. But mostly just staring.
"Veena, whatcha doin' that for, honey?"

A few seconds later Trever comes running over and yanks the cat off the poor bird which flies away. "Veena! Gods..." Exhausted, he takes a deep breath, leaning against the wall. "Oh. Hey Annie."
no subject
"Just wonderin'. Do you have to chase her 'round the ship? She might think that it's all even more of a game then."
Although, Annie has to admit that Veena is looking very pleased with herself. Enough that it's hard to imagine her looking even more.

Veena vanishes from his grip and reappears on Annie's shoulder. Love her?
no subject
Her blouse isn't that thin - and a good thing, too, in Annie's opinion, given how much her bodice now needs it to keep her somewhat respectable - but Veena's claws are sharp, and her shoulder is narrow. Carefully, Annie twists around and picks the cat up off her shoulder and cradles her.
"A toy would distract her. Like a little mechanical one?"
no subject
"I wish it were that easy, but she knows the difference between a toy and live prey. And live prey is much more interesting."
Said kitty doesn't mind being cradled and appears to enjoy it, starting up her rumbling purr.
no subject
If she can entertain the cat, Trever might be able to catch his breath a bit more. And she likes the purring, the weight of the cat in her arms. It's...nice.
(It's entirely possible that Annie is a) lonely and b) needs a pet.)
"Catnip? I mean, we don't know how long this is all gonna last..."
no subject
Trever is rather fond of Mayhem... even if he does eat everything he can.... and he means everything. They've yet to discover anything that can poison the kitten. Not that they've been trying to poison the kitten it's just that he's eaten poison and been fine. And asked for more.
(It's quite possible this is true. Sadly, Trever doesn't have any of Veena's kittens to give her. But he's willing to bring her along for fun times.)
"I try not to give her catnip. Can you imagine a drugged teleporting cat?" He grins a bit. "Though she seems pretty happy there."
no subject
Then Annie grins back at him. Not for look, but it's a quick, entertained expression. "I better keep her happy, then. Least so you can sit, maybe."
She pauses.
"There's real rum, too."
no subject
Does Trever sound exasperated with having to deal with the kittens? Yes. Yes he does. Having to rescue kittens who have gotten inside the microwave by teleporting but for some reason can't teleport outside the microwave is rather annoying, among other things.
"Is there really real rum? I could use some."
no subject
His description of the kittens makes her smile. Not quite believingly, but they sound adorable and such a handful.
"And here I thought the cats who used to live around the docks could get into trouble."
no subject
No one really believes Trever or any of his family members when they tell people about the kittens. Until they meet them.
"Yup. It's like cats multiplied by ten."
Veena is purring rather smugly about this.
no subject
She shouldn't laugh. Cats are cats are cats, and teleporting and magic just sounds like all kinds of terrible trouble.
But she's tipsy, and it's entertaining, and so she is laughing.
Trying to hide it, but laughing.
no subject
"Yup. We're almost ready for our first real trial too."
no subject
(The media tearing someone to shreds does that, a little.)
But here, it lights up her face, turns her lovely.
"Oooooh. That'll be excitin'. Bet you're gonna have a bunch of folks ready to try it out, too."
no subject
Mostly.
There have been a few broken noses...
"Oh, I certainly hope so. I'll bring you some when it's done, if you'd like. You and Finnick."
