Medicine is a real Science

[Medical Labs / Sickbay - Multiple Days]

So, it's been a busy few days, and a few days where a certain Dr. Beckett has basically been a permanent fixture in Sickbay and the labs adjacent. He'll have been seen bustling in and around, always with a PADD, Tricorder, hypospray or specimen vial in his hand.

He's running tests, comparisons, air screenings, water screenings, filter screenings, asking other people for their advice on terms and systems he knows not a thing about... He's quite the dilligent worker... or obsessed, whichever you prefer.

He always has time to answer questions, though, even though he has few answers at this point. People can catch him in Sickbay, or on the way to the labs. When in the labs, he can be seen hunched over equipment, asking the computer questions, and, sometimes, even holding what seems to be a non-Federation scanning device. When he's using this piece of equipment, he's physically writing things down in an odd-looking language.

He may seem tired, but one thing that never fails is his professionalism and dedication.

Hopping up to take a seat on the biobed, he makes a vague gesture to signal a go-ahead. "Be my guest." If it may help to end this even only a short time sooner, he can stand scans or whatever medical testing they can throw at him.

He can only really agree with Beckett's assessment. "Indeed, if it is a virus, it is far from simple and will no doubt be far from easily dealt with."

When picking up on Beckett's apprehension, Guide lets out a low, frustrated growl. "Oh, relax, Doctor Beckett. I could not feed on you even if I wanted to." He holds up his feeding hand to show what he means. There is a slight ridge there, running the length of his palm where the slit would normally be, but it's sealed. "At this age, Wraith still depend on solid food."

Biting back a sharp comment about the humans need to state the obvious, Guide just picks the tricorder from his hand, looking it over. "I see. No progress in combating this, then?"

Guide hops down from the table to approach the workstation, still studying the data displayed on the tricorder, when the Doctor's comment makes him pause momentarily. A rather evil grin settled on his face at that thought. "That is something I would have very much liked to see." He can't imagine his old foes to have much more success than the increasingly diverse population on this ship, and seeing them this inconvenienced would have been rather amusing.

And, even if they did have more success in dealing with Q, then that would have mean another enemy defeated. Even if not by his own hands, that is something Guide could easily live with.

Somewhat reluctantly, the Wraith has to admit that Beckett has a point, and that his own gleeful fantasy is rather immature. Another reason to hope that this will all be over soon: he's not reasoning quite the way he should.

Looking at the data, unfortunately he's drawing a blank as well. "I have often found," he starts slowly, weighing his words, "that living test subjects can be a great resource when it comes to furthering research." He's been poked and prodded by medical personnel quite enough these past few years, but, if it could mean a quicker end to this farce, he could consider volunteering himself.
