[Sickbay]: Round Sixteen Scans and Vaccines

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.
If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.
"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
[ooc: Sickbay is, as always, OTA and open until the next one goes up for latecomers! For new characters: tagging isn't mandatory but IC going to sickbay is. If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. There is a post up in the OOC comm with more details about Sickbay and which doctors are on deck this month, if you have any questions.]

"Of course," she answers easily, motioning to the side before she moves to grab a tricorder and a hypospray. "I'm Doctor Crusher. If you'll just step aside here, I'll start your exam. Do you have any allergies we should be aware of?"
no subject
"None," she said, with an air of quiet annoyance.
Though she was entirely unsure what this doctor would find, really. She had, after all, been brought back to life - she was unsure what she would find.

If this woman truly had died in her homeworld and was brought back to life, she would likely show the same signs that Padme had. Life, but with a distinct lack of medical evidence to back it up. Other than that, Beverly has learned not to expect anything to be simple here.
"Good," she murmurs as she lets the tricorder do its scan. "Is there anything I should know about you? Any medical history we should be aware of?"
no subject
She pauses, unsure if she should answer that. Part of her wishes not to - but the practical part knows full well that a medical professional might be necessary after what she has been involved with.
"I died," she said. "Massive thorax trauma. Likely bisection by an energy blade."
no subject
"Well, it's a good thing you're here now." Mostly because Beverly isn't a proponent of death, even in extreme circumstances. "All right, I think it's time for the hypospray. You'll still need your vaccines just in case."
no subject
She regards her with an arched eyebrow.
"Bear in mind, if you are attempting to poison me..."
no subject
Picking up the closest hypospray, she loads it with the vaccines and moves to press it to the woman's neck. With this, she will feel nothing. The only sign that the hypo has done anything at all is a soft hiss as Beverly administers their form of injection. Once it has been done, she steps back.
"All right. You're free to go."
no subject
For a moment, nothing happens and then she inhales deeply. For a brief moment, she feels fully herself again, whole. Freed from the lingering weakness. Whatever this injection did, it worked quickly.
She looks down at the binder, focusing. "Yes," she says, "free." With that they snap open, falling to the floor. A gloved hand snaps out, pulling with the Force - and suddenly her lightsaber is back in her hand, far away from a startled security guard.
She laughed, then, very briefly. And even, for once, smiled with genuine joy - but joy chases the dark side away as surely as the warmth of the sun banishes frost. She felt the moment, ebbing, and desperately tried to focus back on her rage...
But it was too late. She sighed, silent for a moment before clipping the lightsaber back to her belt.
"You...you have done a tolerable job, physician. I...thank you."
no subject
"You're welcome. Is there anything else you need today?"
no subject
"Nothing for the present. You have done your work more than adequately. I may well call upon you again, physician."
