[Sickbay]: Round Sixteen Scans and Vaccines

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.

If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.

"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

They may yet get along quite well if that's the case.

Beverly tilts her head slightly and nods cautiously. "You're well-informed." His ability certainly seems accurate enough. "That's something I'm trying to keep to myself. They don't... know of a lot of things that happen prior to the commission of my current starship. I'd rather that they didn't know until it's appropriate."

Hopefully, she won't be around for that. She's really, really hoping this timeline will eventually smooth out and that Q will quit playing with them like mice.

“Only when it's working,” He admits, a little ruefully. He should be far more well informed than this. Maybe his access will even out over his stay on the starship.

Phoenix listens to Beverly and nods. For all he knows there's going to be the kind of trouble that leads to the next ship having to be built. That sort of knowledge of the crew's future can can really mess up a timeline. “Don't get me wrong. All this is between you and me. Not just 'cause of the rules, but I've always respected...” he shrugs “..client confidentiality.”

She nods in understanding, glad that she won't have to get upset about that or explain why it would be a problem. He seems to have a decent head on his shoulders where the future and information are concerned. That's good.

"I appreciate that," she says, a soft smile forming. "I don't think there's anything else I need from you here, but you're always welcome to come find me if you need anything."

There are times when Phoenix can be a complete plank; but he's so far out of his jurisdiction here, that he's careful not to go making waves. He may also have matured a little over his past decade.

"Okay. Well it's good to meet you." He smiles at Doctor Crusher and stands again, this time a little more slowly, without wobbling. Then he has an afterthought. "If medbay ever needs someone with a healing ability, just let me know? I could help out in any emergency?"

A healer? That would do wonders in a crisis. Her smile warms and widens gratefully. "I'll keep that in mind. With Q around, I'm sure we'll need the help sooner or later," she says dryly. Mostly joking, but the lingering threat is always there with Q. He did introduce them to the Borg, after all. "Thank you. Take care, all right?"
