[Ten Forward]: Rooming Assignments | Round #15

Now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new passengers for ship-wide access comes a big day for them: the day they receive their official introduction to the Enterprise. It starts with a tour of the ship and some background to the situation, delivered by Chief O'Brien.

The tour covers the main areas of the ship, and a history of recent events, Q-inspired and otherwise.

Once the tour has wrapped up, it normally falls on Worf's shoulders to assign the new arrivals quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. They have been gathered together in Ten Forward, and are awaiting further instructions on how to proceed. Unfortunately, Worf is still unavailable, and so instead it falls on Lt. Junior Grade Baldwin’s shoulders to do so, just as it did last month.

As he has done this before, Baldwin has a speech prepared:

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.

Looking down at the safety of his PADD, he says, "Room assignments are as follows," before reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

"I will remain here to answer questions," Baldwin says, managing to keep the reluctance out of his voice. "And the rest of the Security team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.


[ooc: Open log for building CR with new roommates and meeting neighbors, "party post" style! Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is a post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions and find more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there. If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. The tour given by Chief O'Brien is not open for tagging; you can assume your character had any basic questions answered. ]

Calling all Halliwells

Crap. Crap. Crap. Chris's eyes went wide. He forgot they were going to read full names. He glanced sideways at Prue and Phoebe, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. There was really no way to lie his way out of this one. Was there? He was busted. So totally busted. He could orb away, but that was kind of noticeable. And security would probably be pissed. Not to mention his mother. He could imagine the disapproving look Piper was going to be giving him in a few minutes, followed by a 'what do you mean you didn't tell them?! You had all the time in the world!'.

There was no way around this. He was screwed.

The rooming situation would be interesting. Having a roommate would be a little odd, but even if she wasn't roommates with one of her sisters, she hoped they'd be close by where she could bother them easily. It would take adjusting to not being in the manor with them, but they were here together, and that was all that mattered.

And then as the names were read off, Prue did certainly hear Chris Halliwell. Her head snapped around and she fixed him with a pointed look. And it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whose son he was. Whitelighter said Leo, and Leo was married to Piper. Prue at least waited until the names were all read off and they were done speaking before she stalked over to Chris. She may be short, but Prue was still rather intimidating.

"You forgot to mention you weren't just a Whitelighter. You're family."

Chris held a hand up, taking a step or two back from Prue, who was shortly becoming scarier than his mom. "...I'm so busted, aren't I.....Okay, to be fair, I forget to mention that quite a lot. It's a bad habit. I'm pretty sure you're going to have to fight Phoebe for me, I've been stringing her along for months. Which I had my reasons for. And no, I can't tell you."

It looked like Paige escaped this one, not having the same surname as the rest of them. That didn't seem fair. Then again, Paige wasn't blatantly lying to them. Karma was a bitch.

"You're rooming with Luna. I used to be her roommate. She's nice, you'll like her. She's a witch too." That's right Chris, change the subject. "Be gentle with her though, she's going through some things."

"Yes, you definitely are busted, mister." Prue stated, narrowing her eyes and pointing her finger at him. There was a lot of finger pointing that happened in their family, especially when there was suspicion and accusations being thrown around. Like at the current moment.

And, well, Chris should probably be afraid of Prue. She did have a nasty temper, and being on her bad side was not a good place to be. Sure she couldn't blow anyone up like Piper could, but she had other abilities she could utilize.

"Smooth change of subject, Chris." She noted. Yep that's right, you didn't slip that change of subject by her, Chris. Considering she herself did the same thing now and then, she well knew how to play that game. "So are you a nephew?" Prue almost added the question if he was her son. Because seriously, she noticed their resemblance. Dark hair, green eyes. Piper and Phoebe had lacked green eyes.

"Though Luna's a witch? That makes things easier." And more interesting. No doubt she could have plenty of long conversations with Luna about magic. "Hey, I can be gentle and sensitive. ...sometimes. But I'll tread lightly."

"Yeah, yeah. I know." They were definitely related. If it wasn't for the creepy resemblance, the finger pointing and gesturing were a total giveaway. Chris bent his head down briefly, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his fingers before lifting back up again.

"Hey I am a master of subject changes." Now it was Chris's turn to point fingers. "And yeah, I'm Piper's son. One of Piper's son's. And actually if you happen to see him ever, just back away slowly."

Chris arched an eyebrow. "But now I know where the green eyes come from." It was kind of like looking in the mirror.

To say that Prue had questions was an understatement. Why did he hide the fact he was family? Why should he feel the need to hide it? Though she at least had the presence of mind to not ask those questions in public. Whatever Chris' reasoning for that was, it clearly wasn't something she should ask when around others.

"You're a Halliwell, it runs in the family." Prue had it. Her sisters had it. Now Chris had it. "One of Piper's sons?" Prue asked, blinking a bit. That was shocking. They had learned that Piper had had a daughter in the future when they'd traveled forward to find out what happened to Phoebe. "And do you mean your brother?" Yep that also raised more questions.

Prue almost missed how he phrased that about the eye color. He now knew where they came from, where he hadn't before. Which only added to the fact Prue was suspecting something had happened between her time and Chris' time. "So you haven't met before?"

What Prue didn't quite yet realize is just how neurotic and crazy Piper's youngest son was. His reasons for hiding things were usually bad reasons. Chris's decision making skills were decidedly bad. Prue would no doubt learn this real fast.

"Wyatt. Older brother, yeah." There was that pesky truth again. "Looks kind of like Leo. Blonde." Chris said, like Wyatt's hair color left a bad taste in his mouth. As for this mysterious girl Piper was supposed to have instead of them? Chris was clueless. He knew sometime when Prue was alive the Elders had arranged it so they would go to the future, but beyond that, it was fuzzy. Chris wasn't exactly detail oriented.

"The future I'm from, family's hardly existed. I've never met you."

Yeah that was something Prue would probably come to learn soon enough. But at the moment, she was still trying to get to know Chris a bit. Which she figured would be a little easier now that she knew he was her nephew. It meant she could ask more pointed questions.

"Blonde. I was blonde once on a trip to the future. I didn't like it." Prue said with an equally bad taste in her mouth and a wrinkle to her nose. Seriously, finding out that she'd basically become a corporate bitch in that future and how she had literally no one in her life she could call a friend or even family had been difficult to handle. But the blonde hair just made it all that much worse.

"Okay so I'll take that to mean things were kind of bleak in your future. Or the Halliwell Curse of dying young struck all of us." Little did she know just how accurate that statement was.

"Oh Chris," Phoebe says in a sing song voice that means trouble and grabs hold of Chris' arm and drags him off to one side. "Is there something you might have forgotten to tell me?" She's getting a lot of fear and apprehension off him. "Since your from the future, that makes you my....?"

Yes she is giving you an opening here to make this easier.

And Phoebe's place as favorite aunt just skyrocketed way over Prue. Who....was still pretty scary. Chris held up a hand.

"I'm your nephew, Piper's son. Youngest. Look, this isn't the way it's supposed to happen. You're supposed to be having a premonition. And bust me. I'm sorry I lied to you. But I have a good reason. A really, really good reason."

[premonitioned]

"So I was going to bust you either way." Okay, there is two ways this could go, she could get angry, or she could hug him. She settles for the latter, he is family after all. It must be hard for him to be around them, and not be able to say a word.

"You'd better have a really good reason, that you are going to tell me later."

See, that's why Chris loves Phoebe. She's nice. Of course, she's also an empath so she gets to feel all the emotional roller coaster effects of not being nice. So he gave her a hug back, drawing her close.

"Trust me, it's a good reason. Does the fate of the world and the lives of the Charmed Ones count?" Cause really, he didn't know another way to do this. To do the plan. He couldn't have just come out with it at first. For one thing,Piper hadn't even conceived him yet. And second, who would believe that cute little Wyatt could grow up to be so vicious?

"It does." The hug goes on a little longer than her standard ones, like she can make up for all of the missed opportunities in this one long hugs. "But, we Haliwells are always stronger when we work together. We could help you Chris, we could at least help you track down the demon that is after Wyatt."

She touches Chris' chin to get his full attention. "And when you mean are lives, you mean...." Is this how mom feels every time they meet her during her past?

Chris really didn't want to answer that question. It brought up too many bad memories. But that wasn't fair, most of his memories were bad. With a few good ones from the past year with his parents and aunt peppered in. After all, you didn't get to grow up in a world where Wyatt had conquered the magical world and destroyed the physical one, and have happy memories of birthday cakes.

Phoebe didn't need to know their fates. Or the fates of her children. She didn't need to know the extent of what Wyatt had become, or what he did to the city. Even the Golden Gate Bridge was gone. Even with the power to orb there was no escape from Wyatt.

Wyatt was brutal. She didn't need to know the little boy she was currently taking care of and helping raise was going to rule more with violence than care, with no respect for family. Family seemed to make it worse. It was probably the only reason Wyatt hadn't killed him yet. He liked Chris. And he could always put him back together again.

"Actually....there's no demon after Wyatt."

[premonitioned]

Phoebe can feel all of the turmoil going through Chris, especially his pain. Right now, she would give anything to take it away from it, even for a second to give him some peace. But healing comes from dealing with them, and she waits patiently, until he comes to his conclusion to share.

His answer, horrifies her. She can barely believe it. They would never let evil lay claim on Wyatt. "How. What happened?" she asks, her voice tense and a little high pitched.

"Busted," Paige singsonged as she leaned against the door jam. She was grinning as she pushed off the door, and walked into the room. "Nice digs.... come on tell Auntie Paige why you didn't spill the beans?"

Chris took a deep breath, and walked into Paige's new home and fell onto the couch.

"Because Prue scares me and Phoebe wasn't supposed to find out yet. She needs to get that premonition. The one that starts her on the speed dating. Besides, if I told Prue then Phoebe would be the only one who didn't know and that's not fair. "

Paige just laughed at him. "Are you afraid of a little wittle witch?" She drawled. "All kidding aside, don't you think this is worse?"

Chris shook his head. "Worse than screwing up reality as we know it? No, I don't think so. They may be mad at me right now, but I can live with that. They can live with that. "

"You only did that once," Paige teased, a slight smile playing at her lips. "braver man than I boyo... I don't know how you do it."

Chris shrugged, smirking a bit at his Aunt. "Well, Wyatt scares me more than Prue does." He could laugh about it, because underneath? He was terrified. Terrified that Mom was wrong and they wouldn't really, didnt really save Wyatt, and everyone was going to be stuck with the Charmed version of Darth Vader.

Piper stepped back and just watched, a little amused, as Prue and Phoebe descended on her poor son. He had all this time to tell them. All this time, and had the opportunity to just be straightforward with all of them right off the bad instead of stringing them along like he did in her timeline.

Chris sideline glanced at his mother, and took a second to mouth the words 'help me' at her. He also noticed the amused look on her face, which meant that his efforts were probably for not. His mother was going to watch, grab some popcorn, and eventually tell him 'i told you so'.

Because, well, she was right.

Nope. She wasn't going to help him on this one. Piper waited until her sisters went off before approaching her son.

"See what happens when you don't tell your aunts the truth right off the bat? You would think you would've learned from when you came to us."

Chris scowled at her. What? She wasn't dead yet, or even in the same universe. He could scowl.

"Because Phoebe has to have that premonition--the one where she's pregnant? If you didn't notice, she didn't have a premonition just now. Which means, we're screwed. And speaking of screwed, Prue is scary.....But at least now I know someone else in the family that has green eyes."
