[Ten Forward]: Rooming Assignments | Round #15

Now that Dr. Crusher's medical team has cleared a sizable number of new passengers for ship-wide access comes a big day for them: the day they receive their official introduction to the Enterprise. It starts with a tour of the ship and some background to the situation, delivered by Chief O'Brien.

The tour covers the main areas of the ship, and a history of recent events, Q-inspired and otherwise.

Once the tour has wrapped up, it normally falls on Worf's shoulders to assign the new arrivals quarters and instruct them on the correct behavior and protocols needed for life aboard the Enterprise. They have been gathered together in Ten Forward, and are awaiting further instructions on how to proceed. Unfortunately, Worf is still unavailable, and so instead it falls on Lt. Junior Grade Baldwin’s shoulders to do so, just as it did last month.

As he has done this before, Baldwin has a speech prepared:

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do.

Looking down at the safety of his PADD, he says, "Room assignments are as follows," before reading off the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

"I will remain here to answer questions," Baldwin says, managing to keep the reluctance out of his voice. "And the rest of the Security team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.


[ooc: Open log for building CR with new roommates and meeting neighbors, "party post" style! Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is a post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions and find more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there. If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP. The tour given by Chief O'Brien is not open for tagging; you can assume your character had any basic questions answered. ]

That was when a petite young woman with blonde hair and wearing radishes as earrings arrived to her new quarters. She had thankfully been warned by Chris about his family showing up so was not too shocked about the move. "I'm Luna and yes, Chris did mention a lot of family just arriving." she gracefully nodded. But then Luna had no idea her own problems were on full display, especially a scar that basically screams magical torture. She held onto her bag of clothes and her sketchbook as she spoke, her wand peeking from her ponytail.

"It's nice to meet you," Prue said with a smile. "And yeah, seems if you get one of us, you get pretty much all of us." Even if Prue was still miffed at Chris for withholding the fact he was her nephew for a while. But she wouldn't let that spoil getting to know Luna at all.

"Do you have a preference for which bedroom you want?" Prue asked. And she did notice a scar that seemed different from normal scars. Magic. It must have been caused by magic. She remembered Chris' warning, so she didn't make Luna uncomfortable by staring or outright asking about the scar. Not just yet, anyway.

"Likewise Prue." Luna could smile a bit more, she was liking her new roomie already. "The smaller one is perfectly fine, it feels like the dorm rooms at school so a tiny bit of what I know well." she gracefully nodded. "And you guys remind me a lot of a friends family, size wise to name just one thing." thinking of the Weasleys. "But hopefully I can fill in any blanks since I've been onboard for a bit now." as she set her bag and sketchbook atop a table. "And I'm also a witch." knowing her wand was peeking from her ponytail.

"Alright. Also I'm not opposed to switching at some point if you want a change." Prue said with a smile. While she'd been protective of her room back home, this wasn't home. This was something else entirely. And hey, if she was going to share living quarters with someone not one of her sisters, she could learn to be flexible. "Ah, thank you. I've had a lot of questions answered, but I'll probably have more soon enough."

Her eyes flicked to the wand she saw poking out from her ponytail. "Chris said you were. I'm a witch myself. What kind of abilities do you have?"

"My magic is mostly wand based but we also have charms, potions and other spells." Luna explained. She took the wand from her ponytail and casts a simple charm to send her clothes into the smaller of the bedrooms. "Pretty simple charm but its a common one." she confessed. She decided to explain more like the Patronus charm only if asked.

Prue watched Luna use the wand and send her clothes into the smaller room. "That's totally cool. We don't use wands, though we do brew potions. My sisters and I also have powers that are specific to each of us. Such as I have telekinesis." Prue looked at the couch, lifted her hand and waved it and the couch slid about half a foot from where it originally had been. "I can also astral project myself."

Which she wasn't going to demonstrate just yet. Probably best to not do that without Luna being ready for what that entailed.

"Wonder if the potions mirror our worlds?" Luna was curious. "We also have things like people who can shift into animals too." she offered. But at the same time the idea of astral projection was a little spooky. "But bulk of the time I'm using more routine charms since some save time and some mean less problems for my wrist, long story."

"We could always try it and see? Or more pool our knowledge and see. I wouldn't recommend brewing a potion from my world. The potions my sisters and I typically make are of the vanquishing demons sort, and the demons typically explode or go up in flames." No Prue, don't get the idea to steal a piece of Cole's flesh and make the Balthazor Vanquishing Potion as an example.

"Are you able to write your own spells from scratch or can you only use ones that exist?"

"I would be totally game!" Luna had to smile at Prue's idea. "We have spells along the same lines as well, but now I'm using more low key spells like cleaning charms and the like." she explained. "As for spells it depends on the kind. Like my friends older brothers have original pranks that use magic." smiling at the memory since Fred and George had some amazing ideas. That was when she had an idea,"But we do have some pretty unique candy like every flavor beans."

"Then we should certainly give it a try!" It would be a learning experience, at any rate, and Prue did thoroughly enjoy every aspect of magic she could get her hands on. So having a roommate she could talk magic with, maybe even practice magic with, would be fun. Not to mention, she had to wonder if Luna knew anything about astral projection. If she did, maybe Prue could finally figure out how to use her powers in astral mode. "Every flavor beans? That's kind of really cool. Are they the kind that you have no idea what the flavor is until you actually put it in your mouth?"

"Exactly!" Luna had to smile now. She was more excited about understanding another world when it came to magic as she fished some of the beans from her coat pocket. "Sort of, in my world the beans basically run the map from the normal ones like cherry to crazy ones like pepper and some really sick ones too." making sure she had grabbed some of the tamer out there flavors.

"Pepper? Good lord that's kind of an intense flavor." Prue said with a chuckle. In a way, they reminded her of jelly belly jellybeans in a way. Though she had a feeling the ones Luna spoke of were more magical and varied than jelly bellies were. "I bet there must be quite the combination of flavors in those as well. There are some jelly beans back home that can be really weird flavored, but somehow I don't think they're as varied or as cool as the ones you're speaking of."

"What flavors do you guys have?" as Luna offered Prue a cherry bean. "My friend Ginny's older twin brothers Fred and George would use some of the sicker flavors as material for jokes, they are two of the class clowns at school and can bring laughs to anything." she explained.

"We have the typical flavors like apple, cherry and the like. Then there's some crazy ones like kiwi or mango and some combined flavors that taste really disgusting, if you ask me." Prue laughed a bit. "That actually sounds like good material for jokes. Sounds like something I would try to pull on my sisters if I was in the mood to do so."

[radishearring]

"Its actually pretty fool proof the way they did it!" Luna had to smile, anything Fred and George related was good for that she realized. "And honestly I pranked my dad with a snot flavored bean once, he loved it."

"Fool proof pranks are the best." At least when one was behind pulling them off. Not everyone who was subjected to the prank always thought it was the best. Prue then wrinkled her nose. "Snot flavored? Wow yeah, we definitely don't have ones flavored like that."
