Saturnalia!
Well, it seems that sometimes life aboard this ship can be as exciting, if not more so, than life aboard Serenity.
Simon, as usual, has been spending most of his spare time in the sickbay, working, or in his quarters, reading, for the sake of learning more about the medical technology of this time and place, with all the similarities and differences it bears to his own.
He has to do that. It's the only way to stop himself going mad with the worry that aches at him for River.
He does, however, have to eat, and he doesn't always do that in his room. He'd come into the lounge for dinner and found it ... significantly changed from normal. It's covered in draperies that would be more at home in Inara's shuttle than on any facility on any spaceship Simon's ever seen. There is music, there is a banquet table, and around the edges of the lounge, people playing cards.
Simon eyes it all with curiosity as he eats, recognizing some of the foodstuffs as things from Earth-that-Was history, but it's the card games that draw his attention. After his meal, he can be found standing quietly to one side of a table, unobtrusively watching the players go through the motions of a game that is apparently both like and unlike Tall Card.
He's frowning as he tries to puzzle out the rules.
At the very least, it's an interesting intellectual exercise.
