[Ten Forward:] Guinan at the bar | OTA

There are more people on the Enterprise tonight.

How and when Q chooses to bring them aboard still remains something of a mystery. Sometimes there is only one new face out in the crowd, and sometimes there are dozens. Guinan takes note of them all, from behind the bar, waiting tables, offering words of comfort and explanation.

And, most importantly, she listens.

They all have their own stories, their own fears, discomforts, and needs. In a strange new place, sometimes the best form of solace is a friendly listening ear and something warm to drink.


[ooc: feel free to walk up to Guinan at the bar or handwave that she passes by your table! For new folks, Guinan is the head bartender here, and happy to answer questions if you've got 'em. ^__^]

Prim closed her eyes, trying to think, trying to remember her classes. She finally shook her head. "I'm not sure, I don't think so. But I've never been out of Panem..."

[she_listens]

Guinan nods carefully.

She takes a chance. As the concern in her eyes gentles into compassion, she reaches her hand out to Prim again and smiles.

"Well, now's your chance. There's a great big universe out there, and I'd like to show it to you."

She can trust Guinan. That may be hard to believe, but there isn't an ounce of aggression or meanness to the older woman. Just warmth, and calm.

And she feels that, and she wants to trust and she's just... so confused. She hesitated, then took the hand timidly.

"Show... it to me...?"

[she_listens]

Her touch is gentle.

"You're not going to see it all from one corner."

She smiles kindly, and straightens back up to her feet.

"We can start with the ship. I'm guessing you've never seen one like this before. After that, you can see anything in the universe you want."

She got up with her, but said softly, "The only thing in the universe I want to see right now is Katniss and Peeta, safe."

[she_listens]

Guinan nods.

She can understand that. When your family is in danger, no manner of comfort gained anywhere else can hope to alleviate that worry.

"Then we'll have to work on that, if we can."

There's no guarantee either of them will be on the ship as well, neither is there any guarantee they will be in the ship's records. But they can always try.


[ooc: I'm thinking a fade on them soon might be good, since Prim has already seen the ship/Katniss/Peeta in other threads? So we can handwave Guinan being nice to her and helping her until that point?]
