Ten Forward, Open

After recording his log, Remy looked around the expanse of Ten Forward, smiling, as his hands almost automatically drew out a new deck of cards, opened them, and then started shuffling them. But not normally.

Remy was fond of games. He liked games especially if they were skill games, ones requiring an expenditure of effort, not just to win the game, but to show you had some skill in some area. He had played many such back home, from roofrunning to thievery, and he had never backed down from them. He liked them, and what each one brought to his mind new ideas and new variations of old skills and abilities.

Coming up with new ways to shuffle cards was one such thing, and as he watched the room, he began using one new technique after another. Side shuffle, flip the tip, run the line, and more were added to a normal shuffle, then made more complex by card being flipped in the air, and caught, sometimes slowly, and sometimes faster. He wasn't being flashy about it, or trying to catch attention, he was just working on being busy.

"Yes!" She sat placing her drink on the table while watching his hands set to work. It was hypnotic and very distracting.

"I've been getting things together to put on a concert."

"Yeah? Good." He grinned at her. "Going to sing during it?" He wanted to know, so he could be there to cheer her on.

"Yup!"

She took a sip of her drink which after a strange mishap at the bar was just beer. It had enough of a taste to wash away the weird taste of her last drink. Experimenting wasn't always a good idea when you didn't know what things were called and you were on a spaceship.

Yuna smiled. "What have you been up too?"

Remy chuckled and nodded to her. "Mostly exercising, talking to the people who work and who runs shops here. Thinking about getting a job here." He wasn't sure, but he needed something to tide away time.

"You can get jobs here?" She blinked setting her drink down. She hadn't really thought about getting a job here and she wondered what there would be.

"What sort of job?"

"Yes you can." He grinned at her. "I'm thinking about maybe working in a shop, or figuring out if they need people with very fast reflexes here." Remy had heard such skills might be something people needed.

She thought for a moment. "Maybe I should get a job." She lightly tapped her chin before meeting Remy's gaze with a wide smile.

"What would you do with fast reflexes?" Yuna wondered just how fast his reflexes were.

Remy grinned. "You could."

"Well, I don't know, here. But I figure people always need someone who can react fast and has a lot of experience with weird situations."

"I wonder what that job description would look like."

Yuna smiled taking a sip of her beer with a smile. She could consider that an apt description for a sphere hunter but they didn't have anything like that here.

"I made coffee once. That was calming." She found she enjoyed domestic tasks as she got older but she never lost her thrill for adventures.

"Dunno yet. I'll let you know when i find out." Remy grinned. He wasn't worried,. He knew he would find a way through.

"Maybe you can talk to Guinan. She's pretty smart. Maybe she could use another worker around here?"

"Guinan. I've met her. Do you think she'd let me help? Like a waitress?" Yuna knew she could do that and it would be something that she enjoyed plus she could learn about drinks from Guinan which would be fun for the ex summoner.

Her smile slowly widened as she thought about it. "I think, I'd like that."

"I dunno, but it couldn't hurt yo ask. Worst thing she can do is say no and send you away with a whuppin'." Remy grinned at her.

"Whuppin'?" Yuna smiled repeating his word. She really couldn't think of the last time someone had beaten her in a fight, then again she usually fought monsters.

"I can't imagine it would be so bad"

"Likely it wont be. Besides, you might like a whuppin'." he winked at her, eyes crinkled by humor.

She crossed her arms in front of her chest. After their last conversation she was determined not to let him make her blush.

"Oh?" Yuna rose an eyebrow at him as if asking him to continue.

"Some people enjoy a little spanking. And how it makes them feel." Remy smiled at her. "When you find a partner, it's something you can explore."

Yuna's smile grew. "Noted." Her cheeks turned a little red but it wasn't as bright as when they first spoke.

"Sounds like you have experience." Not that she wanted to know. Her smile faltered slightly as she tried to change the subject. "But.. ah.. I don't think I have to worry about that right now."

Remy chuckled at seeing her blush, but was proud of her for not being worse. She was learning.

His grin widened. "Oh yes? Sure I shouldn't regale you with my tales of naughtiness?"

To that she had no response. She picked up her drink and took a swing of the liquid giving her time to think before setting it down.

"You seem the sort to get into trouble." Yuna smiled trying to twist the word naughty into possibly a new meaning. She slowly started reminding herself not to blush.

Remy nodded. "Always did. But I was also very good at getting out of it again." He winked at her.

"When i was a kid,I got into so many kinds of trouble it shocked people, but I was also the one who ended the trouble. And people knew it."

"I knew someone who always caused us trouble and I suppose we did always find a way out again." Yuna smiled thinking of the times that Tidus or Rikku has pulled her into trouble. Rikku more so though she and Paine usually got them out of it again.

"You know, I miss it a little."

Remy grinned at her. "Yeah? That's normal, I think. But we lived and go on, and we find new ways to get into trouble." He winked at her.

"Some trouble is more fun than others."

Yuna giggled softly. "That's true." Her eyes looked wistful at the thought.

"Whenever Rikku and Brother agreed we usually ended up in trouble." They were siblings that didn't often get along.

Remy laughed at that. He recalled days with Belle and Henri and fun that seemed to never end, until it did. "But sometimes it's nice to not be in trouble too."

So that they wont expect it when you get into trouble.

"That's true." Yuna laughed softly. "What's your favorite memory then? Of getting into trouble?"

Her tone was light and curious as she leaned forward in her seat listening.
