1st Gate ~ Ten Forward

A man gets thrown onto the floor of Ten Forward, instantly clearing the people in the small area between the bar and the seating area.

Carson, meanwhile, has no idea where he is, what just happened... All he can remember is feeling the heat on his back, and ending up... wherever here is.

Looking up, he blinks. Confused. He was in Atlantis a few moments ago, on the OR level, having just removed...

Yes. The exploding tumour. Had it exploded? Was this...?

No. He was still alive. His heart was beating ten to the dozen, and he could feel the sweat rolling off his brow. On instinct, he reaches behind him, feeling his back. No burns...

Definitely alive.

He then becomes aware of the people around him, some of them muttering concernedly. He smiles, nervously, slowly sitting up.

"Ah... Sorry... Can... Can anyone tell me where I am?"

This wasn't the weirdest thing that had happened, but it was still pretty up there. Who gets involved in an explosion and ends up in a bar?

((OOC: Apologies to everyone who left a top-level who I haven't tagged. I should have specified earlier that I'd prefer to not have a load of people encountering him "first" as it were.))

They can perhaps get back to the topic of food later. It sounds lie the human thinks that Sheppard is a more pressing subject, and Todd decides to indulge him.

"It was not the first time," the Wraith says with a shrug. "Though this time he was kind enough to volunteer."

"Indeed I was," he answers with a nonchalance that isn't quite as real as it seems. Those years will never be forgotten.

He lets the conversation halt for a moment as he takes a sip of water. The sandwich he leaves be. He can continue his meal later.

"What is your function on Atlantis, if I may ask?"

"Was?" It doesn't really matter, what would make Beckett that, but the old Wraith remains curious. He'll dig up an answer, sooner or later.

"Chief Medical Officer?" He flashes another of those toothy smiles. "Kindly give my regards to Dr. Keller, if you find your way back."

That last part is unexpected, and prompts a short moment of studying from the old Wraith, his head tilted curiously to the side. "That would be greatly appreciated," he finally says. He makes no secret of it, that he's far from pleased at being trapped so far away from home.

That comment earns Beckett a low, amused chuckle. "I see your point. Though I don't have any reason to harm anyone here. Not any more. In fact, in an enclosed environment such as this, it is in my best interest not to."

"You would be correct in your assumption." He holds up his hand, and sure enough, there's the feeding slit nestled in his palm. "Keller's original retrovirus did take it away, but with the serious problems that caused it needed to be reworked." Not to mention that he didn't want to take away his ability to feed. In this case, that all worked out.

The Wraith leans back in his chair, and you can practically see the wheels turning in his head as he studies the human in front of him. "Ah, so there are some temporal issues to consider. I see. Well, no matter." They are both trapped where they are, might a well make the best of it.

"The original design did work, but brought with it accelerated and uncontrolled cellular regeneration, proving to ultimately be fatal. As those fallen ill were places into hibernation to slow the progress of the disease, the illness spread through the entire Hive. The result was... Quite catastrophic."
