She smiles softly, giving him all the time and space he needs. Neither pressing with conversation, nor expecting him to provide it all. She waits for him to finish typing, and nods.

"At least they keep us fed, sheltered, and warm here, ain't that right? An' there's so much to see in this corner of the universe."

Kate misses her home, but she doesn't mind the adventure. Not one bit.

"Well, you write so beautifully I'd love t'hear your music sometime."

DJ looked up and nodded. That was true. The people of the Enterprise had been so kind to those that had been stranded on the ship. Giving shelter, clothes and food as well as education among other things. Compared to the world he came from, it was all kinds of miraculous. DJ still wondered often, if there was some sort of catch to all this.

Kate's compliment actually caused subtle spots of color to show on his high cheekbones for a few moments. He shook himself mentally quickly before nodded a little and typing a response.

Thank you. I still have to figure out how to get my hands on a guitar. Then I can definitely show you.

The corners of her lips twitch when she sees that blush rise in his cheeks, but she's got the grace not to say anything.

She does know how fragile a thing the male ego can be.

"I think there's a music room here."

She taps her bottom lip in thought.

"Leastways, I've seen somma the officers with instruments in one of these other rooms. Couldn't say if they were their personal belongin's or not."

A music room? DJ's eyes brightened at that before he typed up a response.

I will have to check that out. I like the idea of playing with different sorts of instruments. He shared. Thanks for letting me know.

She chuckles, glad she's been able to brighten up his day.

"You're welcome. An' remember, once you find that guitar you owe me a song."

She winks, giving his arm one last pat before straightening up and letting him have his space again.

"Back to today's lesson..."

She says it loud enough for all her students to hear, as she goes on about Poe and writing the things that you feel most passionate about.
