[Sickbay]: Round Sixteen Scans and Vaccines

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.
If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.
"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
[ooc: Sickbay is, as always, OTA and open until the next one goes up for latecomers! For new characters: tagging isn't mandatory but IC going to sickbay is. If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. There is a post up in the OOC comm with more details about Sickbay and which doctors are on deck this month, if you have any questions.]

Having someone else know her name before the meet isn't uncommon here. It might have been in Zelien, but here she is the Chief Medical Officer and most people know her on sight, even if she doesn't know them. Add to that the fact that she is pretty well-known among Starfleet officers to begin with, and will someday be even more so due to the Borg, she isn't really all that unnerved.
With the hypopray having been administered, she makes notes of what he gives her, nodding. "That sounds very interesting," she says honestly, enjoying getting to meet a new species. "I think that's all I need from you. You're free to go, unless you have questions for me."

His Knowing kicks in, and he gets a strong impression from the celestial records that he was only half-heartedly looking for.
"Sorry.. it's. My senses have been unreliable since I got here, then I get a blast of information I haven't requested."

"It's all right. You can stay as long as you need to. Sometimes being here is an adjustment not just in the physical sense, but also mental and emotional." And with whatever abilities some people come with. That seems to be a common thread.

"Kinda fills up my head, like when you have a vivid dream." Usually when this happens, someone needs his help; although that's not always the case. The angel looks up at Beverly. "You're out of your time, like me."
no subject
"That's right," she affirms. "That's pretty standard knowledge around the ship. Most people know I'm not the doctor who should be here."
Doesn't make things any easier for her, though. Sometimes she wishes she were back in Zelien so she would stop feeling this insatiable guilt about the other version being stuck in such a horrible place and the fact that she isn't the person they need and want.
"Is that a problem?"

"Only 'cause of your Prime Directive, and my people have our own rules about temporal travel. Coming from over a hundred years into your future, I have to watch what I say," he adds a little wryly. Then the angel 'sees' something else. "This is the NCC-1701-D. You belong here, but ... you don't at the same time."

"There's a version of me who should be here," she agrees slowly, "but it isn't me. I should be on another starship, though I was last somewhere else entirely. I always thought my escape would mean I would be returned to my timeline. Instead, Q felt fit to bring me here."
The big questions are whether or not he knows about the Enterprise-E and whether he knows or can sense Zelien. It would be... interesting to find out about the latter, especially with regard to how different she is from the version of herself who should be here. Different and yet similar.

"The Enterprise after this one. NCC-1701-E." He's not familiar with the minutae of the starship's history, All he can get is that number. There's a sense too, of where Beverly Crusher has come from. Just an impression of survival, unconnected to Enterprise.

Beverly tilts her head slightly and nods cautiously. "You're well-informed." His ability certainly seems accurate enough. "That's something I'm trying to keep to myself. They don't... know of a lot of things that happen prior to the commission of my current starship. I'd rather that they didn't know until it's appropriate."
Hopefully, she won't be around for that. She's really, really hoping this timeline will eventually smooth out and that Q will quit playing with them like mice.

Phoenix listens to Beverly and nods. For all he knows there's going to be the kind of trouble that leads to the next ship having to be built. That sort of knowledge of the crew's future can can really mess up a timeline. “Don't get me wrong. All this is between you and me. Not just 'cause of the rules, but I've always respected...” he shrugs “..client confidentiality.”
no subject
"I appreciate that," she says, a soft smile forming. "I don't think there's anything else I need from you here, but you're always welcome to come find me if you need anything."
no subject
"Okay. Well it's good to meet you." He smiles at Doctor Crusher and stands again, this time a little more slowly, without wobbling. Then he has an afterthought. "If medbay ever needs someone with a healing ability, just let me know? I could help out in any emergency?"
