[Sickbay]: Round Nineteen Scans and Vaccines

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.
If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.
"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
[ooc: Sickbay is, as always, OTA and open until the next one goes up for latecomers! For new characters: tagging isn't mandatory but IC going to sickbay is. If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. There will be a post up in the OOC comm shortly with more details about Sickbay and which doctors are on deck this month, if you have any questions.]
Room 1629: Chief Medical Officer's office
no subject
Speaking of which, as he passes the Chief Medical Officer's office he can't help but glance inside–... and he does a double take. His eyes go a bit wide and he stares for a moment to make sure he's seeing what he's seeing.
"... Dr. Crusher?!"
no subject
"Hello. Is there something I can do for you?" she asks politely, unaware that this young man knows a different version of her.
no subject
And if he's honest, he had been desperately hoping that she knew something about the others from Denouement. Especially Cash.
"You don't recognize me," he says numbly, a statement of realization more than a question.
no subject
"I'm sorry, I don't," she says apologetically. "But... I'm not the Doctor Crusher who should be here in this timeline. Perhaps you were looking for her?"
Of course, this brings up other questions for him, not that she knows. Namely, where is she supposed to be and where did she come from if not here?

Paging Simon Tam! OTA Otherwise
no subject
Simon had spent most of the time since he'd first arrived here educating himself about the technology and techniques in use here and the differences between his own world and time and this one. He'd become familiar with the devices in Sickbay, but his understanding went to their clinical use, not their mechanical properties.
How the devices actually went together would be more Kaylee's province, given her natural skill with machines.
Simon approached the young woman with a tricorder in one hand, his manner more professional than friendly.
"Would you like to come with me? I'm Doctor Tam."

Simon is the one doing the medical exam, and he's had more than a year of study, practice, and training on these machines now.
"I think most people are curious when they get here."
He gestured to one of the biobeds.
"If you could sit here, Edward. I just need to do a couple of scans and log some details for our records. Is there anything I should know? Any, uh, existing medical conditions or injuries?"
no subject
(Beyond the ADHD and bruises from the crash she's in good shape all things considered. She's bound to be immune to at least one not so normal bug given being from 2080 as well.)

Any doctor
He arrived in sickbay resigned to his fate. He was hoping he could disrupt the frequency the scanners were using, so they'd be useless. But something on this ship was interfering with his tech and he couldn't rely on it - a worry so big it dwarfed all others.
He just hoped that if he was scanned, and their scanners picked up the tech all through his body, that they wouldn't be able to identify it.
OOC: The tech also contains DNA from what will come up as unknown species, so feel free to detect that too.

"Would you care to take a seat? It shouldn't take long, but it's more comfortable that way. Would you like me to explain the procedures?"
no subject
Not that he showed any of this. His expression remained carefully blank. "I would, thank you."
no subject
"You also get an immunizing agent, as to keep you from picking anything up while you are here. It is a simple... hypodermic- spray, which doesn't hurt and leaves no mark." Grainne glanced at a PADD she removed from her pocket, just to double check she had everything right, and replaced it as quick as someone could blink, then she glanced at the security before turning her attention back to him. "Do you have any questions?"
no subject
"How do you know the immunizing agent won't do any harm?" He did sound a little worried about that. He didn't think it would be a problem, but that didn't mean he wanted one any more than he wanted to be scanned.

Paging Trance to the Brig
It seems his concerns about Sickway would come to visit him, instead of trying to find the place. Calmly he opens his eyes and nods when the guard tells him a physician will be coming to check him shortly. Normally after such conversations he simply slipped back into his reflective state but considering he was expecting a guest he stood calmly, hands at his sides in resignation to his remaining 24 hours, and the impeding medical exam.

The Celestial Avatar glared at Thunder God from across the room, stepping inside as the security officer let the force field down briefly. She put down her instruments for a moment and crossed her arms over her chest, scowling.
"You didn't think anyone had thought of that before? Tested?" Okay, small lie. She hadn't tested. She hadn't needed too. Trance saw permutations of reality, possible futures, every moment she excited. She ran through the scenarios. Trying to tesseract out of this universe never ended well.

And yet, his shame made him angry, and he sighs with a flare of his nose, eyes raising up to look at her from under the brim of his hat.
"Am I to always take the Q at their word?"
no subject
"Of course not, but you could have used your head. What if you had damaged the very fabric of this universe-of your own--trying to get back? What if it caused a shockwave and damaged the people here on this ship? Then they wouldn't be able to get back to their universes and times. Can you imagine the catastrophic failure that cause?"
Trance took a fake breath, and looked at him. "How do you feel?"
no subject
His eyes stay on her, their glow dimming slightly now that he concedes to her reasoning.
"I am fine." His deep tones are quieter, more thoughtful.

For Agatha
keeping her from blowing up the shipfiguring out what exactly the problem was.She led Agatha to a seat and let the other nurses know she needed help from one of the doctors, and went to scan Agatha with a tricorder.
"Okay, the doctor will be here any moment. I'm going to scan you while we wait, ok?" She held out the little 'wand' of the tricorder.
And for a doc! :D
