He might be settled in here, but he's not any happier about being away from home. So when he gets the opportunity to talk to his father, he naturally takes it. He settles in his room (the part of it where he can be alone and not bothered by his roommate, thank you very much) to take the time to chat with his father. He'd been so busy with the Resistance that they hadn't had much time to talk. This is the perfect time to catch his father up on what's been happening with him, and to find out how things are going on the ranch.

The partially-completed droid he's been building is left out in the shared portion of the room, surrounded by the parts he has managed to procure so far. They're only taking up part of the space in the room, leaving some free space for Kylo Ren to use as he likes. Poe's not a terrible person, after all.

After the conversation ends, he decides that he wouldn't mind a little company, so he packs up the parts into a bag and heads for Ten Forward, followed by the framework of the droid. He heads to the bar first, for a drink, then finds himself a table, onto which he proceeds to spread the metal bits and wires he's using to build his droid, and starts to sort them out.

If Han Solo thought the trip to the holodeck would be uneventful, Q clearly had other plans. The cantina was filled with all the usual distractions - alcohol, women, gambling, an alien band playing dreadful lounge music... and one strange little boy that was, without a doubt, following him around.

"Dad! Dad, wait!"

He was a lanky thing, probably around age six or seven, with an unruly mop of dark hair and a nose that was too big for his face. He had Leia's determination and her pouty lips. He had someone else's quick fuse.

"Dad, I'm lost!" He cried again, tears brimming around his eyes. "I'm really really lost and I don't know what to do!"

Unbeknownst to Han, this illusion was about to turn his entire world around.

It probably came as no surprise that Kylo Ren's two weeks in the brig didn't end after just two weeks. According to security, he was still a serious danger to the Enterprise. Recent interactions proved he could be just as dangerous to himself.

You have a chance to start fresh. That Jedi (a younger Luke Skywalker, unbeknownst to Kylo) said to him. The words haunted him as much as the lack of the force and the lack of the Supreme Leader's constant instruction. It's your choice. This is your chance. Don't waste it.

Kylo was never very good with choices, was he. Or chances.

Option A: Locked up

Even with a counselor's regular visits, on some days he was paranoid, on others timidly withdrawn. Angry outbursts were still par for the course. It was impressive that the cell was still structurally intact. It was equally impressive that Kylo was still mostly intact. Burned and bandaged bare feet and hands, along with a few worn shoulders were proof that he kept lashing out against that force field.

It wasn't as frequent, though. So maybe he was starting to understand... a little... Or maybe he was just starting to crack. Are you there to help him through it or make things that much more difficult?

Option B: Re-conditioning

Many people still believed they had a dangerous psychopath in that cell, but there were some that were starting to think that keeping Kylo Ren locked up was doing just as much harm as it was good. He only knew what he knew - decades of mental manipulation by a dark side master, brutally trained to harness anger and pain as fuel. Was it possible that Kylo honestly didn't know how to react in a normal situation? If so, then he needed to be taught. But who would teach him?

The rules of these experimental encounters were simple. With both parties' permission, Kylo would be released into someone else's custody for a short period of time. He is to remain cuffed at all times when out of the brig. Security will monitor each excursion closely. Violent behavior will have consequences, and he would quickly find himself back in the brig. Good behavior will be rewarded with further privileges.

For all the people he encountered - the Jedi woman he killed, the others he tried to kill, the assassin droid that tried to kill him and the pair that finally got the better of him in that medbay - all he had now were three bland walls and an electrified barrier. The force was no clearer to him than it had been when he first found himself aboard the ship. Even his lightsaber was gone.

He tested every square inch of that room until his fists were bloody and his boots had split. He must have shocked himself a hundred times. But eventually, every tantrum must subside. And Kylo Ren did calm down.

Two weeks, someone in a yellow shirt said, followed by counseling sessions and close surveillance. Two long weeks.

Will anyone pay him a visit?

Kylo Ren woke up with a jolt. The last thing he remembered was the searing heat of a lightsaber against his face and wet snow against his back. It wasn't odd to think his troops had found him and brought him aboard a shuttle, but the hallway didn't look familiar. Those uniforms weren't First Order. And when he tried to reach out with the force, it was distant and faint.

He panicked.

Grunting, Ren forced himself to his feet and clipped his broken lightsaber to his belt. The bowcaster wound on his side left a bloody trail behind him as he dashed through the halls. He needed to find an escape pod. Damn anyone and anything that got in his way. He needed to escape from what could only be a Resistance freighter before they did something else to him...

"I will not be taken prisoner by the likes of you!"

[fully aware that this might not end well for Kylo... especially if he runs into someone from ship security.]

Edit: and the winner of the 'Who Gets to Restrain Kylo' Award goes to Hallowedarethefounders. For plot-related purposes, he will eventually need to get away from the rest of you. Somehow.
