Mrs. Amelia Jessica Pond-Williams Cordially Invites You to Get Your Freak On {Blind Date Mixer!}
In some wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey universe where it is a perfect Saturday night and certainly not a Sunday afternoon, one can walk into a lounge out in the heart of space and see it made over with candles and linen tablecloths and red rose centerpieces. It's not anything quite as grand as what Q could do. Amy is using the romance of the room: windows looking out across the stars, soft lighting; she even has a trio in one corner playing flute, cello, and violin.
As you walk into Ten Forward, you'll see a sign which says ♥ BLIND DATING TONIGHT, 7PM ♥ and a redhead standing by with those name tags you stick on your shirt that say HELLO MY NAME IS ______ and a clipboard of seat assignments. Not all the tables are taken; even if Amy's first go at this had been that big of a success, the woman in charge, Guinan, insisted the room stay open for other patrons. She's taken mostly the tables around the outside of the room, where there is the best view of space and a little privacy, and each of those tables has a number on it.
If your name is on her list, you'll get a name tag and a little card with your table number on it. "Here you go. The bar's open while you wait, I bribed Guinan t' have out the real stuff, so you can tell her I sent you. No gettin' carried away, though. And no funny business, you treat your date with respect or I'll have you by the ear before night's out. I'll be round if you need anything."
Once everyone's been checked off her list, she's going to settle at the bar and have a drink. Match-making's hard business, but she truly thinks she outdid herself this time.
[ooc: So for everyone who's been on a blind date before, you know the drill. You and your partner will get a card with your table number, introductions can happen there and where it goes after that is up to you! The Date Gone Wrong scenarios are here if you need a refresher. You can mingle with other participants at the bar; after all, this is all about meeting new people! Threadhop, tag around, tag someone you might not otherwise meet, have fun with it. Again, you don't have to use this post, you can make your own locked posts for your dates, but this should give you a good idea of the setting you have to work with. Amy will be close by if anyone needs her, and I will be available all night if anyone needs me! HAVE FUN. :D]

Alex Rogan
Alex was nervous. Dressed in a replicated dark blue suit that fit him almost too well for his liking, and with a rose in one hand, he wandered toward the bar, name tag on, table number in hand, to get some rootbeer before he went to the table. He felt himself wide eyed and utterly out of his element. And he almost fell over his feet before he got to the bar. Why had he done this again?
He was so going to die.
))2 Locked to Emma Swan
At the table, now, he sat there and waited, curious to see who would come, and the rose laid out next to the place setting opposite him. He really hoped he did not mess this up. He scanned the room as people slowly filled it.
Re: Alex Rogan
She tugged on her dress self consciously, as she looked around the room. She spotted the man in the dark suit, and wondered.... She wandered over closer to him.
"Excuse me?"

Then he jerked his gaze away and blushed. "Ah, well, sit, please."

Harry Dresden
Harry smiled as he headed for the bar, collecting a real coke before turning around to see what was what. He almost hadn't come, and he wasn't sure what to think of all this. He was here to meet and hopefully make a new friend, and maybe more than one.
He hoped Inari would have a good time with her blind friend date as well.
2)) Locked to the Eight Doctor
Harry had settled, waters on both sides of the table, candles and roses moved to another table, and waiting now to see whether his friend date would arrive. he as practicing some of the exercises he had come up with and breathing slowly, not wanting to blow out the lights here. Or anything else. This place was amazing, even if he had not been a fan before. Being here was different.
Harry was settled to the table
Harry Dresden & The 8th Doctor
It may have been a "friendly date" that he signed up for, but the Doctor seems to be dressed as if for an actual date, with a well cared for and high quality jacket, very nice clothes, and a well maintained head of hair.

Philip
"Blind dating?" Philip peers at the sign curiously. "Are blindfolds involved? What exactly is all this?"
He's not aware that he's been signed up. The poor sap.
2) OTA
So, Philip has a blind date. He's not dressed for it at all since he didn't know about it until just now and because, well, he's Philip. He's standing at the table he and his date will apparently be sitting at, peering closely at the rose centerpiece.
3) Locked to Yuna
Date time. Philip finally seats himself. He fusses with the stationery clips in his hair as he waits. He could just get up and leave, but this is far too compelling of a topic to pass up. So why does he feel so nervous?
Philip
She lightly played with the end of her skirt as she walked into the main room where all the dates were set up. She found her assigned table and sat across Philip with an easy smile. She wasn't going to let him see that she was nervous.
"Hi." Yuna wished she had something more to say but she was at a loss for words.

There was always a chance the boys would try to skip out, not that she would have stood for it. At least this means she doesn't have to go hunt them down and drag them into the room herself.
She slaps a name tag on his shirt.
"No, no blindfolds. It means you're 'aving dinner with someone you've not seen before."
That's enough explanation, right?

Inari Raith
Okay, so maybe she was a little bit excitable, but that was to be expected from an empatic sensitive in a bar full of nervous, excited, and potentially intoxicated guests.
Card in hand, and began weaving her way toward her table, keeping an eye out for whomever had been given the same number. This was going to be an interesting night!

Amy slaps a name badge on his uniform and sends him in the direction of his table, and once he sees his "date" he thinks maybe this won't be so bad after all. That is, if he can keep himself from stumbling over his own words. He clears his throat, and walks up to their table.
"Hi," he grins, holding out his hand. "Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge. I, uh, think I'm your date?"
He holds up the card with their table number on it, just to be safe.

Merlin (Locked to Samanosuke Akeshi)
Merlin had been alive a long time, and gender, with it's many preoccupations, was just another fun thing for her to enjoy. And she did, regularly. She enjoyed all genders, and all forms. And this was just another day for her to be herself.
no subject
Samanosuke himself would be in his regular, masculine human form--if he could help it--because the discharging of weapons was forbidden, and he wasn't entirely certain that transforming into a full-on Oni Warrior wouldn't count as discharging a weapon. The only sort of transformation he had undergone was to have himself fitted for a double-breasted suit, because he felt the need to have a set of formal clothing other than his Edo period military garb.
He wasn't sure yet if the new look suited him, or not.

Booker DeWitt, locked to Ezri Dax
He hoped whoever he was going to meet wasn't looking for some fresh-faced man with muscles out to there and purpose you could read for miles. Booker was not and never had been that sort of man. he was solid, yes, and he knew what he was doing, yes, but he wouldn't know a purpose with a capital P if it bit him in the ass.
And yes, he knew from experience. And no, he wasn't going to tell you how or what had happened.
Booker finished his drink, and looked around, wondering just exactly why he had come, and unsure if he hoped his date would, or would not come.
Ezri Dax
This was the first 'date' she'd gone on, well, the first date she'd gone on since she was Joined. It was not Ezri's first date by any stretch of the imagination, not as Ezri or as Dax. Did Captain Boday count as a date? In the end she went with a blue dress, her Starfleet communicator in place.
Was it normal to have this much confusion as to what she should put for her name? Thank goodness Amy did it for her. She'd hate to put down Torias or Emony by mistake.
Ezri made a beeline for the bar before hopping down to her table, arguing with what came out of her mouth. Ordering shouldn't be this hard, but the urges from other hosts got harder when she was nervous.
"No, no, I definitely do not want blood wine. That stuff's horrible. Yes, I know I ordered it." Dax sighed, admitting defeat. "Just get me a chardonnay." Taking her drink (finally) she walked over to the correct table, set her glass down and stuck out her hand. "I'm Dax. Ezri Dax, not Torias Dax, Curzon Dax or any of the others. But I have their memories!"
Was she going to babble like this for the rest of her life? Yup. This wasn't awkward at all.

Sam Bowe
Sam managed to get there first - the call of actual, real booze was just too strong when this damned ship usually just had the, what in hells was it? synthehol?
So, Sam has a beer on the table, and a third chair pulled up. This is a date, of sorts, after all, so putting 'his' feet up on the table just don't seem right - so the spare chair will do nicely for relaxing til whenever.
2) Locked to Lorna
Sam didn't show up with many changes of clothes. So 'dressed for a date' is more or less the same as usual, but everything is neat and clean, and Sam left the ornithopter in the room, keeping an eye on things there. Not that anything will last long if the lady doesn't care for dogs... or flying machines with the mind of a dog... but that can wait.
Sam took advantage of Amy arranging the 'real stuff', and has a beer on the table, and an extra chair pulled up as a suitable footrest for relaxing.

She took her card and looked around, spotting her date eventually. He looked young. Lorna was momentarily anxious that she'd been given an underage date. It wouldn't be a terrible tragedy, but she'd hoped to talk to a potential lover, not a potential best friend. She approached with a smile anyway, offering her hand to shake when she arrived. "Sorry I'm late. I didn't realize I'd been entered into these shenanigans until I came by for dinner. It's nice that they're offering real alcohol, though." There would definitely be drinking once she had some food in her. "I'm Lorna."

John Sheppard
John's gone for a mostly casual look tonight, he gets all stiff and uncomfortable in a more formal get up. Once he's got his table number, he heads to the bar for a quick drink (non alcoholic) and a chat with everyone else. He's severely out of practice when it comes to dating, and yup he'll be staying here until the last second.
Kate Barlow
There is a simply bracelet, bartered for on their last trip planet side, sitting on her placement. John reaches the table, seconds after her with an easy grin on his face. "Hey. It would be weird if I offered to hold your chair out for you?"
Sorry for the delay, Sugar!
She's not sure what possessed her to sign up, but it has been awful lonely being stuck up here in space away from everything she's used to, and she figured getting to know somebody new wouldn't hurt her in the long run. It's fitting in that takes some effort. She's usually going around these halls in a pair of worn boots and a cowboy hat, six-shooter strapped to her hip; tonight, she's got on a gold dress she demanded a couple more inches be put on, no matter what folk are wearing these days. It comes to her knees and covers much more of her back, and it's still a little more scandalous than what she's used to.
She checks the table number on her card three times before she picks up the bracelet, smiling softly. She startles just slightly when she hears the voice over her shoulder, looking up — and she's only five-feet tall, so that's a lot of up to look — to catch John's eyes.
"No. Not at all."
She tucks her chin against her chest and absently pushes at a stray lock of hair, looking for all the world like a shy schoolgirl and not a hardened outlaw. Her voice is soft and sweet, tinged with a Texas lilt.
"Thank you. I'm afraid I didn't get you anythin'."

Shotaro Hidari paging shirtless bull-man
He'd only come in for some coffee or a conversation, and rolled his eyes, fully prepared to ignore whatever goings-on were at hand in this room tonight. But eventually, his curiosity was piqued. Just who had gotten roped into this ludicrousness? He nearly spat out his coffee when he saw his name on her list while Amy was addressing some other concern. "What the hell is this?!" he shouted. "Ah, dammit!"
OTA
Shotaro is working on about his second coffee by now, glaring over at the table he was supposed to take up soon, in anticipation of his "date". He hadn't signed up for this. The crazy woman had just put him on the list anyway... Ugh.
Private to The Iron Bull
To say surprised would be an understatement. He openly gawked at the huge bull-man he was meant to have his date with. He shouted incoherently in surprise, to make it worse. The only reason he didn't immediately jump to assuming he was a Dopant was the fact that he looked so very coherently humanoid. Damn you Amy.
no subject
They blink at Shotaro as they move away, and Amy's friendly smile turns into a scolding frown. She reaches over and pinches him.
"It's exactly what I said it'd be, shush you," she shouts; "you're scarin' the others."
She picks up a name tag and slaps it on Shotaro's shirt.

Hyun-ae Kim paging Dr. Banner!
Was this a date? They were already kind of friends after all. ah, Hyun-ae your dear private investigator would be quite crushed to find you had fallen in love with another. But Dr. Banner seemed to be the type to be married to his work. Marriage?! Oh no she was thinking about this much too hard.
She was probably blushing fiercely when he arrived at the table. Be cool. Friends is ok. "H-hello again!"
no subject
"Hello, Hyun-ae. It's good to see you again. You look nice." He knew she generated the image, but surely such took effort, as dressing up took for a human. And so he nodded, appreciative.
He settled opposite her. "How have you been?"

Locked to Jonas
Not that she had high hopes about all that. She just wanted to enjoy the evening.
The replicator had given Elizabeth a pretty nice dress. Anne was wrapped up in her sling, sleeping after her dinner. Elizabeth looked around at all the people, wondering who would be her lucky date.
no subject
If Major Carter were here, he's certain she'd be able to tell him about it. She's good at that. She might laugh, might look at him like she can't quite believe him, but she'd explain it.
He's sort of got the hang of it, he thinks. At least enough that he's dressed in a shirt, pants, and nice jacket, and when he arrives, the nametag and number seem simple enough.
He's gotten used to nametags, so he puts it on and heads for his table.
He can't quite hide his surprise when he sees that his date has a baby with her, but he doesn't mind, and his smile's genuine and bright when he approaches her.
"Hi," he says. "I'm Jonas. Though I guess you can tell that. And I guess ..." He gestures to his number, "I guess I'm your date."
