If you see a bear. That's mine.

"Come back here!"

Yuna was running down the hall after a brown ball of fuzz running in front of her. She had changed back into her gunner outfit after the mishap. It was much easier to chase after the young bear in short shorts than it was in a floor length dress. Her feet lightly kissed the ground as she flew forward her eyes locked on the bounding bear.

She hoped that someone would stop him. He wasn't a bad little bear and he usually listened to her but this time he had gotten a little to excited. She could hear his claws click on the hard floor and she really hopes whomever he runs into likes heavy fuzzy creatures licking their faces.

"Daigoro!" Calling it's name did nothing and Yuna's heart sank as her bear turned into the lounge.

Yuna comes running up to Alec finding him sitting on the ground with the fuzzy bear snuffing at his side. Her fingers covered her lips as the bears long claws gently tugged at his side

"I'm sorry! Daigoro" The bear cub looked up at Yuna and then it's head dropped as if it was doing something wrong. She really didn't know what happened but it looked pretty incriminating for the little bear.

"And hello to you too..." Alec said, pushing himself up onto his elbows. He looked a bit dazed, but other than that fine.

The young bear took the cue and pounced on Alec's belly looking up at Yuna like he had caught his target. Her palm pressed against her forehead as she looked down at the pair. "I'm so sorry."

"Daigoro, get off of him!" The bear wagged his little tail and bared his teeth before walking across Alec to stand by Yuna's legs. She held out her hand for Alec. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I've had worse things happen to me." Still, he took her proffered hand. "I think I just bumped my head when I fell over."

Yuna pulled him to his feet feeling the bear nuzzle against her caffs and then his. She cast a glare towards the bear before moving to lift his seat from the ground.

"I didn't expect him to run off like that." She didn't know what summoning a bear in space would have done.

"Where did he come from?" Because Alec is certain he'd remember a bear cub in someone's room.

Fairly certain.

"And babies tend to do things you don't expect them to do."

Yuna laughed at that. "He's actually over a thousand years old so I wouldn't call him a baby. As for how he got here..." She paused looking down at the bear who was now curled up at her feet. It's sharp claws clicking against the smooth floor. It was going to be all scratched up after this.

"I summoned him but I didn't think he'd get so excited. He hasn't been to space before."

"I didn't know bears grew that small... or at least I've never seen a bear that small," Alec corrected himself.

"I imagine because he's never been in space before is why he got so excited. Does he eat?"

"He can eat." Though Yuna was sure his usual diet wasn't on this ship. Unless there was something the little bear could hunt. "I think he was young when became a faith and so this is the form he takes now."

She realized that might not make sense.

"What does he like?" he asks and starts rummaging around in his coat's pockets. "So, he's like a spirit?"

"He likes to hunt." She smiled her head tilting to the side making sure that she can either feel or see the bear around her legs.

"Ah, yes, like a spirit." Yuna reached down kneeling to be on eye level with the smallish bear. "He's one of my closet friends."

"Ah. Then I probably don't have anything for him. I don't carry living things in my pockets." Though 'carry' is a bit of a misnomer. It's more like he can't pull living things out of his pockets.

So, he crouches down to get a better look at the bear. "How did you two meet?"

"I fought with his first trainer. He was a great warrior in my world known as Yojimbo. He was a summon of mine as well." Whom she had killed so he could rest. She let out a soft sigh looking over at Alec with a wistful smile.

"That was 4 or 5 years ago now? It's been awhile."

"Good amount of time. A lot of people can't say they've had relationships of any sort that've lasted that long." He gives her a quirk of a smile. "Is summoning common on your world?"

Yuna blushed slightly. "Some are born with the talent to learn and others aren't. It isn't common but there are several of us."

Her eyes glanced down at the fuzzy bear who licked her cheek sensing her distress. "There aren't many anymore." Magic was slowly dying in her world.

Born with the talent to learn. Huh. Interesting way to put it. He files that away for later exploration.

"Different than my world. You're either born with magic or you're not," he said. "People aren't being born who can do magic or just aren't interested?"

"Well, yes. There are all sorts of people but everyone can use magic to some degree. It's something we are given from the planet. Everyone is connected to it in some way." It wasn't so easy to explain but Yuna was trying.

Her palm and fingers absently rubbed and petted the bear who was now laying on the floor as if about to nap.

"Cool. So, it's more like only some people's powers can do the summoning? And other people can do other things. And some people are more powerful than others... or more talented than others?"

Alec drops out of his crouch to sit cross-legged on the floor. It's more comfortable that way.

"Yeah. Just like that." Yuna smiled her usual friendly smile while Daigoro began a soft noise that sounded something like a purr. She just didn't have the heart to send him back home just yet but he needed space to run around which he wouldn't have here.

He nodded absently. "I've seen worlds like that before. They're always interesting. Are you going to keep him around?"

"I don't know yet. He might like it now but I think he'll get bored here. The holodeck is nice but you can't really run around there." At least no in the way the little bear was going to run around.

Yuna sighed softly and then finally lowered herself completely to the ground petting the bear as she spoke.

"The holodeck is better than you think it is at creating spaces to run around in. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but you can create entire cities to wander around in. Or an ocean even that's deep enough to hold a boat and make it so you have to tread water," Alec said.

He saw the sad look in her eyes at the thought of her not being able to stay with her bear friend and wanted to at least offer her a slight suggestion that might be helpful.

It was different but he wasn't wrong. "I'll try it." Yuna smiled then her lips curling up at the corners. "If he likes it and promises to behave then he can stay."

She looked down at the bear as if he could understand every word that she said.

Alec completely believes that the bear can understand her. Why not?

"I suppose you should also ask your roommate too," he said. "Unless you're lucky enough not to have one."

While he understands the necessity of roommates, it doesn't mean that Alec has to like the idea. He spent most of his life without a roommate - only sharing a room with his twin sister when they were in the nursery. Then he got his own room.

"Ah, I have one but I admit I don't see them very often." Yuna looked down at the bear. "I think they would notice this though."

Yuna hadn't see her roommate except in passing having had a weird schedule when it came to sleep. Mostly because it wasn't something that Yuna didn't often. She looked very nervous about the idea of approaching her roommate about her bear. Maybe she could keep him somewhere else? She hadn't seen many other pets on board though.
