ten_fwd | [Sickbay]: Round Twelve Scans and Vaccines

Although the alternate timeline's Dr. Crusher has done outstanding work helping to combat the virus that turned so many of the ship's passengers into children earlier in the month, it's still Dr. Julian Bashir acting as the interim CMO, with all the duties and responsibilities that entails.

At least now there's only the number of children there should be, with the medical and scientific staff having succeeded in returning all Q's victims to their correct age.

For those entering for the first time, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. You may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly — even the more unusual aliens.

There's nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to catching new diseases. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.

"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. Julian Bashir is acting as head of the medical staff for the time being, so if anyone needs to thread fallout from the kidplot or ask him questions, he will have a toplevel you can tag. For everyone else getting standard checkups, tag in specifying which doctor you would prefer in the subject line of your tag, otherwise one will leap on you as they are available. The last thing Stahma is really expecting is for anyone to recognize her. True, there are a handful of people here whom she met the last time, but she was not exactly anticipating that any would be here, specifically.

The voice is one she recognizes instantly, though — it's hard not to — and she looks around her until she sees its source. Stahma smiles, and for once it's at least a little genuine. She hasn't completely made up her mind what she thinks of this man, but it is… pleasant to see a familiar face, if nothing else. She nudges her way past the small knot of people between herself and him, smoothing down the front of her long coat with her hands.

"Guide," she says, greeting him using the name he gave her before. "The pleasure is mine. I… can't say I had expected to return, either." There's a flicker of some emotion in her eyes, difficult to identify, before she smiles again and bows her head briefly. When she looks up at him again it's from slightly under her lashes, the usual modest upward glance.

"Are you well?"

"With all things considered, yes, I am." He's no more pleased about being stuck on The Enterprise now than he had been upon first arriving. In fact, after Q's latests round of supposed fun, he might even be less so. He does, however, look more healthy now than the last time Stahma and him met; less tired and worn, even if he had been careful to hide just how weak he had been getting.

"Frustrated to still be here, but, what can one do other than to make the best of it?" At least he has found a few things to help him occupy his time, such as his duties there in the sickbay, simple as they may be.

"I would assume you are here for your medical screening, newly returned as you are." With his left hand open and upturned, he gestures for a vacant room to the side. She does strike him as someone who values her privacy. "Unless you would prefer to wait for someone else to attend you?"
