[Sickbay]: Round Five Scans and Vaccines

Sickbay is fairly ordinary for a ship's hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly. As a matter of fact, all personnel look harmless. Well, perhaps excluding the sun avatar, but Trance Gemini is as skilled as the Starfleet officers.
If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go! Lollipops are optional.
"All right, come in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be shy. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
[ooc: Sickbay is as always OTA! For new characters, tagging isn't mandatory but going to sickbay ICly is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Trance Gemini, Beverly Crusher, and Rory Williams, with Julian Bashir by request only (and possible appearances by Simon Tam). If you have a preference, please specify in the subject line of your tag who you would like. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your intro yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive, and backtagging is love!]
Anyone works for me!
"What, precisely, is a scan and a hypospray?" He has to ask.
Have Dr. Crusher!
"Hello, Mr. ... Robin," she says, as friendly and professional as she can be. "Please, have a seat. I'm Dr. Crusher, Chief Medical Officer here on the Enterprise. I apologize in advance if this all seems strange to you; I believe medicine has changed greatly since your time. I'm simply going to check you over to make sure you're in good health, and give you a vaccine to ensure you stay that way."
Yay! :D
So, wanting to be respectful at the very least, Robin manages a slight, albeit affable smile, and takes a seat as instructed.
"Do forgive me, I'm...not well acquainted with all the technologies so prevalent here. I admit I'm still slightly disorientated. But I appreciate your assurances, Dr. Crusher. Please, do simply call me Robin." He'd rather dispense with the formalities. "A vaccine...ensures one remains in good health, then?"
no subject
If Dr. Crusher looks charmed, perhaps they can keep that just between them? It's a good thing her teenage son isn't here.
"In this instance it does," she answers, creating a file for him in the system. "All of us carry certain viruses, most of which are dormant, but when we encounter people from different planets, or lands, they may introduce certain viruses to us that we've had no ability to form an immunity to. Many epidemics have begun this way, so it was discovered that a simple inoculation could save countless lives. By this point in our history, we've completely eradicated many once serious illnesses."
And she looks proud of that fact. "I'm sorry, let me know if I get too technical with you."
no subject
"That is...truly incredible, and wonderful to hear."
He shakes his head with a soft smile. "I think I'm comprehending most of it, but I'll be sure to ask if anything is unclear. Have you...been on this ship for quite some time?"
ooc: ahhhh, I'm so sorry for my slowness in tagging!!
"A few years now," she nods, picking up her tricorder. "I was assigned to this ship just after it was commissioned, though I spent a year as the head of another facility. I missed it terribly while I was away."
Her colleagues, the captain... the Enterprise is where she belongs. The tricorder hums softly as it scans over Robin, letting her know of any outstanding wounds or illnesses, past or present.
"This must be your first time on a starship," she guesses.
