[Sickbay]: Round Five Scans and Vaccines

Sickbay is fairly ordinary for a ship's hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly. As a matter of fact, all personnel look harmless. Well, perhaps excluding the sun avatar, but Trance Gemini is as skilled as the Starfleet officers.

If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go! Lollipops are optional.

"All right, come in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be shy. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

[ooc: Sickbay is as always OTA! For new characters, tagging isn't mandatory but going to sickbay ICly is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Trance Gemini, Beverly Crusher, and Rory Williams, with Julian Bashir by request only (and possible appearances by Simon Tam). If you have a preference, please specify in the subject line of your tag who you would like. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your intro yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive, and backtagging is love!]

Nobody on the crew argues with the Bentenmaru's doctor.
Possibly because her nickname is 'Bloody Misa' and no one really wants to know how she earned that. Possibly because they know. It depends on their experience.

Marika taking note of the different gear and trying to figure out if, a) she could get a copy to take home when that becomes an option, and b)if it would be a good bribe to calm down her doctor, mostly means that she's a little distracted.

A biobed sure would be tempting if it folded down enough, but that's probably not an option.

Getting a medical checkup is the last thing Alex wants. Billy had mentioned advanced medical technology; what if they can detect the GC-161 in her body? That would be bad. This whole thing is going to be bad.

But if she skips out, she knows that will look even more suspicious. So she takes a deep breath and heads on into Sickbay. Maybe she can get out of this with her powers, somehow...

Regina has no idea what any of this is, and when she's told to go in next and it's just a something or another, she's visibly nervous. She's gotten somewhat used to the fact that she's so far in the sky there's no light through the windows. She's stopped creating food and clothes from the replicator obsessively, and now she wants to learn how to use the holodeck. But this came first, she was told. Quarantine when she isn't even sick.

"I...I don't know what those things are."

The mandatory visit to the medical bay has been something Akito has dreaded since he first learned about it a few weeks ago. Initially he asked Jack to accompany him but Steve eventually reassured him that it wasn't dangerous, leaving Akito to let Jack know he would be alright on his own - no backup necessary. It's a bit of a relief, because being scared to visit the doctor is so stereotypically childish, and the last thing Akito wants Jack to view him as is a child.

Then again, Akito isn't so mollified as to not still be somewhat frightened, which is why Shark accompanies him, held close to his chest in a tight grip. The cat purrs; a reassuring sound reverberating through Akito's ribs. If things go well with him, Akito plans to ask for Shark to be given a check-up as well, considering the feline has never had the opportunity to go to a vet.

The security guide makes him even more uncomfortable. The mention of something called a 'hypospray' sets off alarm bells. While he tries not to appear panicked, Akito is sure his unease is clear.

"What kind of scan? And explain what a hypospray is, please."

Rory Williams hadn't been on duty during the last wave of new arrivals.

Following the trip to Alemar III, Rory felt the sort of exhaustion that he'd take a couple weeks off for, because exhaustion + nurse duties usually led to some poorly made decisions and a lack of care, and Rory takes his job very seriously.

... even if his job is now unpaid and in space, using very different tools.

There's also the fact that it's been a while since he'd really had a chance to spend some private time with Amy; not since her abduction to the Enterprise, then his search for her, and then his abduction and Alemar III after that. (Let's just say catching up was in order and leave it at that, okay.)

So he's missed a few newer faces, and - so it would seem - new personnel too.

He's looking through one of the PADDs, scrolling through existing patient and staff files a little absent-mindedly while he waits for new ones to arrive.

When Percy's gets sick, one of Apollo's kids usually takes care of the injuries. It's a pretty fast process and they are pretty cool. Well it would be cool if their dad wasn't as warm as the sun itself. He suspects that if all of Apollo's kids went to Alaska, they would cause global warming.

He glances up at the introduction. "Last time someone told me not to worry, I fell into hell."

Robin is hesitant, of course, because this is all quite unfamiliar to him, but he's started to acclimate to the new technology here, and he's begun to slowly trust that everything here is just part of the standard procedure for examination. And the less resistance he presents, the quicker he'll be through this.

"What, precisely, is a scan and a hypospray?" He has to ask.

Sam takes all of this in stride. Of course they want a Doc to check 'him' out. He has no idea what most of these devices are for, but then Sam's dad was a doctor, and way ahead of his time... so at least the general process and shuffle is familiar.

Sam just finds a place to lean against the wall, with Bubsy the ornithopter close by, wings folded in as far as they'll go so as to not be in anyone's way. Apparently there's no full time 'vet' on board, but they'll need to check the ornithopter for anything odd brought in from 1819 as well, before engineering gets a look at him.

She walked slowly into the sick bay, taking her time to stop and stare. She used magic to heal and knew some of medicine but the machines here were completely new. Yune felt like a tourist who was completely lose and stuck staring at anything with a bright light attached to it.

She wondered what they used for medicine here.

Medical Evaluations for everyone. Well, at least that was reasonable.
Judith was healthy as far as she knew, but who knew what was up or what medical standards were in this place? She waited.

Julian!

Ezri shifted her weight from one foot to the other, and looked at the door. Or rather, she looked at the door and the security officers guarding it. There was no way she was going to get out of this. Besides, she was a Starfleet Officer, and she obeyed orders. But what if those orders led her to Julian? It wouldnt take two shakes of a lamb's tail for him to figure out who she was. Then came questions, concerns, and a good amount of worry. Not to mention the whole breaking of the Temporal Prime Directive. Dammit. None of her lives had prepared her for this!

Ezri bit her lip, fidgiting, before she nervously clasped her hands behind her back in an effort to stop waving them around wildly. Thanks Lela.

Maybe she could request another doctor if she got Julian? Yeah, right, that wouldn't look odd at all. And there was nothing to prevent him from checking her file. It would be plain to see. She slumped back, feeling nervous and slightly defeated.
