[Sickbay]: Round Five Scans and Vaccines

Sickbay is fairly ordinary for a ship's hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly. As a matter of fact, all personnel look harmless. Well, perhaps excluding the sun avatar, but Trance Gemini is as skilled as the Starfleet officers.

If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go! Lollipops are optional.

"All right, come in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be shy. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

[ooc: Sickbay is as always OTA! For new characters, tagging isn't mandatory but going to sickbay ICly is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Trance Gemini, Beverly Crusher, and Rory Williams, with Julian Bashir by request only (and possible appearances by Simon Tam). If you have a preference, please specify in the subject line of your tag who you would like. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your intro yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive, and backtagging is love!]

"That's quite a nice trick. How do you do that?" Trance looked at the readings. Not a heavy worlder, not a Nietzschean, but his readings weren't human. Not quite Avatar, but....something close. A cousin.

"What's ambrosia? If you have some we might be able to replicate it for you, in the event of an emergency."

"It's a skill, I inherited from my dad." Percy knows he's far from home, so its pretty safe to assume he can mention who he is, without drawing a tone of giants down on the ship. "He's Poseidon, and ambrosia is the nectar of the gods. There's probably some flower on Olympus attended by a satyr or something so unless you can replicate the gods..."

"Have you tested in here on the Enterprise to make sure it's not particular to your own universe? I wouldn't want you getting hurt and thinking you could heal yourself and not be able to." Trance listened to his explanation, furrowing her eyebrows at ambrosia.

" Nectar of the gods? Why would they need something like that?" There was no paralel for Avatars. If they got hurt, they simply were reanimated by their celestial bodies. Unless their celestial bodies were destoryed, then they also died.

Percy nods. "I've replicated it, and it smells right, like blue chocolate chip cookies." Which was his favourite food. The ambrosia smelt different to every demi god. "I haven't tried it, it will burn me from the inside out if I eat too much and don't need it." He's not seen anyone combust yet.

"The gods get injured," He added by way of an explanation. "It's there way of healing. I gave Ares a cut once." Good times.

The first thing that her mind got caught on was 'blue chocolate chip cookies'. She wasn't quite sure how anything could taste blue, but she was sure if she asked Harper what blue food coloring tasted like he'd have an answer.

The second thing was that his gods got hurt. "Your gods get injured?" Sh was going to have to ask Apollo that next time they got together. That just didn't seem right to her.

So, she asked, "Really? Can I try some?"

'Yeah, strange huh, they aren't completely infallible." It was a blessing for Percy. When you go up against minor gods and Gaia, you don't want to poke them with a sword and only get told it tickles.

"Sure," he replies to her second question with an easy grin. "It might not taste blue chocolate chip cookies to you, but you get the cookies here so I can get you those as well as the ambrosia."

Trance made a face. It really was strange. Almost incomprehensible really. "I've never come across anything like it--in my universe that is." Other universes were a completely different story. Like the Abyss' pocket universe. "You're gods bodies aren't a stand-in for their power? Givin them the ability to interact with mortals on a different plane than they already exist?"

"I've never had blue chocolate chip cookies, so I can imagine it would taste like something else." Probably hydrogen.

Percy isn't totally up on how the gods shrink themselves into their human sizes. He figures its one of their magical powers since he's seen them use their powers when the walk among mortals.

"Nah, I think it's just something they do. They are sort of on our plane, Olympus is currently at top of the Empire State Building."

He grins, "You are really missing out. Have you had blue lemonade?"

"Can't say I have. Actually, I don't really eat." She paused, wondering if she should keep up the charade of being a normal, mortal girl with Percy. " Much."

It was an interesting concept for her to consider. Shrinking herself down that is, not eating. She couldn't imagine shrinking her entire mass down into a humanoid shape. That was why she has this body. This construct. She'd have to ask Apollo how they did it next time she was in the area.

Percy wouldn't find it weird, he's learned to roll with things. He's met snow goddesses and he's pretty sure she eats only snow (her brothers have developed a love for hamburgers, go figure). "Huh, do you have like a food you must eat or you will go mad?"

"No. Not really. I do like those alcoholic drinks with the umbrella's though. Those are nice. I don't really need to eat. Or drink. My body is self sustaining." Well, her body wasn't really a body, but it was the best explanation she could 'explain' without explaining to much.

“I can’t decide if that sucks or if it is kind of awesome,” Percy admits. “I mean you don’t have to eat the boring stuff but you miss out on the new things.” He sort of thinks life would be incredibly boring during school, if there wasn’t a guessing game for what the next meal would contain.

“Do people send you burnt food offerings?”
heartofasun: (Default)

[personal profile] heartofasun 2015-01-31 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Trance smiled at that thought, remembering. "I used to get all sorts of offerings. People remembered me. But a long time has passed and things are very different."

Trance had no doubt her temples were still on Tarn Vedra. The only problem was the planet wasn't exactly where it should be. Then again, neither was her sun; both hiding, waiting.

"That's kinda sad." Percy's seen the Greek Gods reduced to mere myths to the majority of the world. They get a far away misty-eyed look when they talk about past glories. "Does anything good happen to you when someone remembers to make you an offering?"
heartofasun: (Default)

[personal profile] heartofasun 2015-02-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Trance paused, thinking about his question, before answering, "No, not really. It's nice to be remembered, and a bit inconvenient at the same time." That was why she went to such legnths to change her name and appearance. Still, she missed the old days. But wasn't that what she was trying to get back? Maybe something better?

Then it couldn't hurt to include her in his offerings before dinner. Even though, he's pretty sure the gods reach doesn't expand as far as space, he's not taking any chances. "I won't forget you," He promises, "And uh, I promise not to go blabbing your secret all around the place."
