Picard has encountered many things of an odd or curious nature over the course of his career. In the last ten months, 'magic' has just been one of those things. The guests aboard his ship have done a rather thorough job of expanding his belief in the concept, though some things still take a little effort to wrap his mind around.

Things such as a man claiming to be Rumpelstiltskin, with a magic dagger that can control his powers and therefore potentially pose a great threat to Captain Picard's ship.

He had warned him many months ago about the dagger, which was not in his possession at the time. Arrangements had been made to alert him if it ever showed up on the Enterprise, but after so long Picard had begun to hope it never would. The message he received ten minutes ago, unfortunately, laid waste to that hope. The log was a precaution recorded by "Mr. Gold", and simply said that he needed to speak with him immediately. Picard lets out a slow breath, and leans back in his chair.

Tapping the combadge on his uniform, he says: "Picard to Worf. Please have a member of security inform Mr. Gold that I would like to see him in my ready room as soon as possible."

A man gets thrown onto the floor of Ten Forward, instantly clearing the people in the small area between the bar and the seating area.

Carson, meanwhile, has no idea where he is, what just happened... All he can remember is feeling the heat on his back, and ending up... wherever here is.

Looking up, he blinks. Confused. He was in Atlantis a few moments ago, on the OR level, having just removed...

Yes. The exploding tumour. Had it exploded? Was this...?

No. He was still alive. His heart was beating ten to the dozen, and he could feel the sweat rolling off his brow. On instinct, he reaches behind him, feeling his back. No burns...

Definitely alive.

He then becomes aware of the people around him, some of them muttering concernedly. He smiles, nervously, slowly sitting up.

"Ah... Sorry... Can... Can anyone tell me where I am?"

This wasn't the weirdest thing that had happened, but it was still pretty up there. Who gets involved in an explosion and ends up in a bar?

((OOC: Apologies to everyone who left a top-level who I haven't tagged. I should have specified earlier that I'd prefer to not have a load of people encountering him "first" as it were.))

akito: akito / gazelle (pic#8958895)

One of the first things Akito had (re)discovered about himself was that he was most definitely not heteronormative. Girls were pretty, but boys were attractive and made his heart beat quickly in his chest. Unfortunately Akito hasn't had much luck finding many boys close to his age around the Enterprise, or if he has they weren't really his type. Either the wrong personality, or the wrong appearance (and hey, a boy's allowed to be a little shallow) and if they don't hit either of those things they may as well be a cardboard cutout for all the interest Akito can scrounge up for them.

But, every now and then, there's a boy who catches Akito's eye - almost always lanky but athletic, with dark hair and eyes, and a vibrant, playful personality (the exception being Jack, of course. nobody has quite caught his eye like the winter spirit has yet). They're few and far between, so he takes advantage of one of the rare sightings whenever he can despite having no idea how to flirt. He knows the basics though: dress up cute, put on some makeup, do his hair, and bat his eyelashes unnecessarily.

He knows the class schedule for his age group, where it takes place, when it lets out, and where he can sit casually every day to watch the cute boys walk by. Even if they aren't his type, Akito sure can appreciate a fine booty walking by when he sees one, and he takes full advantage of his stalking memorization skills.

It's mid-afternoon and the high school class is about to be let out. Akito likes this one in particular because some of the boys will actually look at him and flush bright red, especially when he's wearing a short skirt and shifts to give them a nice view of what Akito knows are very nice legs. He doesn't wear a skirt today though - just a plain pair of shorts that are only just long enough to be considered appropriate outer wear. More thigh with less effort, and he can cross his legs if he wants to without worrying about flashing his panties.

Win/win, in his opinion.

So feel free, residents of the Enterprise, to encounter Akito on one of his boy runs. Just sitting casually by the high school classroom waiting eagerly for some boys he can try to flirt with, though he has one of his sketchbooks with him so it's not like he seems too eager. Guys don't like that. And Akito isn't desperate. Just bored.

Really.

Pay no attention to the dreamy look on his face as he watches the boys leave their class for the day.

((ooc: Akito is wearing this and does indeed have some makeup on (a bit of blush and tinted lip gloss) because he really wants to hit on boys. or have boys hit on him. dis boy is taking full advantage of his trap status, yo. as for what he's sketching, it's actually bits and pieces of images that come to mind; his Tokyo, some things from life in Adstring. stuff he doesn't really remember, but can doodle anyway. major things would be a polar bear pup, and a fire-lizard.))

It just wasn't fair.

Of course, when she found somewhat of a new life here, with an Angeal who loved her, it was taken away from her. Or rather, he was taken away from her. It started a few days ago, when he suddenly wasn't there that morning. She hadn't thought anything of it. Angeal liked to spend time taking a run or working in the hydroponics lab. But when he wasn't at either of those locations, Genesis grew worried. She had asked around but no one had seen him.

She hadn't seen him since then and it had become pretty obvious what happened. Angeal was sent back to his world, where she couldn't go. It was like a knife through her heart and it hurt more than the years of degradation had.

Genesis sat by herself, as far away from anyone as she could, nursing a glass of whatever alcoholic beverage was in it and not really drinking it because what was the point? It wouldn't dull the pain. She couldn't get drunk. She was facing the windows, the blackness of space and twinkle of stars her only company as she sniffled pathetically and wiped at her eyes with a napkin. She wasn't much of a mess as she was earlier that day, but it was hard to keep her composure. She didn't want to go back to her room but she didn't want to be in Ten Forward. Quite frankly, she would have preferred to lock herself away in a library but they didn't have that.

So she had found the next best thing and that was the nearly full grown Banora tree in the hydroponics lab. It made her think about him but also of her own home. It was a small comfort. She sat beneath the tree, leaning against it with the wads of napkins on her lap, both used and new as she swirled the drink in her hands.

"My friend, do you fly away now?
To a world that abhors you and I?
All that awaits you is a somber morrow
No matter where the winds may blow."

Boy, is Beverly ever glad things are back to normal — or at least what passes for normal these days. Things got a little strange last month, but so far there haven't been any out-of-the-ordinary incidents. That should probably worry her, huh?

If this is your first trip to Sickbay, you may be surprised to see that it's a fairly ordinary-looking hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you might see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly. As a matter of fact, all personnel look harmless. Well, relatively harmless.

If you're new to the ship, no doubt you've been escorted here by the security team. Nothing to worry about, the doctors just want to make sure you aren't carrying any viruses or are vulnerable to terrible space disease. Once you've been checked over — a quick scan from a tricorder and any necessary vaccines — you'll be free to go. Lollipops are optional.

"All right, step on in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be afraid. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

[ooc: Sickbay is, as always, OTA and open until the next one goes up for latecomers! For new characters: tagging isn't mandatory but IC going to sickbay is. If you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging: if you have a preference which doctor sees your character, please specify in the subject line of your tag who you would like (Beverly Crusher, Trance Gemini, Julian Bashir, Simon Tam, Sam Wilson, Merlin, Meh Yewll, Bruce Banner, Todd, and the newly cleared Carson Beckett are definitely on deck, with possible appearances by others). There is a post up in the OOC comm with more details, if you have any questions.]
