► Closed: A Discussion with Picard before the Risa Mission
Gaheris Rhade knew the subject would eventually come up, and he needed to take the initiative, speak to the captain before judgments could be made. The main crux of the matter has been, really, that Gaheris's betrayal remained hypothetical. He wasn't sure it was the appropriate or necessary course of action to take, and being torn between siding with his people and his friend of many years was a situation that he wouldn't wish on anyone. No Nietzschean would claim to be honest and true, but they were definitely loyal in some aspects and did have a sense of honor in their combat, that it wasn't meant to spiteful.
Dylan never lived with those terms, those feelings. Any betrayal by Gaheris- it would have been personal, and while Gaheris did know Dylan's perspective he also didn't feel it personally outside of his broad condemnation for the Commonwealth's choices.
He didn't know Picard's history or what he'd been through up to that point. Once he'd made the appointment to speak with him, he chimed before the room where he was due to meet him and waited to be permitted to enter. His hands were tucked behind his back and his posture straight. For all the world he carried himself more like a Vulcan (and even as subtly smooth and catlike) instead of something constructed like an Augment. His stride had more purpose to it than Tyr's did, a life of formal teaching and genes that lent towards personal presentation.
"Excuse me, Captain. I apologize for taking up your time, but I wanted to discuss a potential situation with you." He looked around, trying to take in what details of the room that he could.
► OTA: Ten Forward The same day after the Talk With Picard
Now that was settled, Gaheris had to tend to personal matters. He was still concerned for Telemachus. He doubted he could do much more beyond what he had, but he was stalking Ten Forward. Not just for people that seemed to be companions of his, but also people that recognized him as Telemachus in a very favorable way.
He would be careful. Addictive vice was something that his people shouldn't be subject to. In fact, most Nietzscheans took a considerable amount of alcohol to become drunk, and were immune to so many poisons that certain drugs would be ludicrous to use on them. Yet Telemachus had managed it, and he had to be careful whom ended up a conversation partner when it came to such a serious subject. He wanted to find out, but he also knew like every good Nietzschean he was probably hiding things.
He settled at the bar with water, and considered how this whole mess might tie into his own unfortunate, self-destructive side. He was meant to hide from guilt, but felt it again anyway. A new one, he'd never considered, in that he'd passed those particular genes on.
