[Ten Forward] Release from Quarantine and Rooming Assignments

Lieutenant Worf has gathered all of the new "guests" together in Ten Forward to instruct them on correct behavior and protocols now that they have been released from quarantine. He looks as happy and approachable as you might expect, which is to say he doesn't. It is his duty, and the captain's instructions, and so he will handle this riffraff the honorable way.

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits."

This is chased by a stern look to all the gathered guests.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do."

He takes a deep breath. Unless they show themselves to be undisciplined or unruly, it is the most he can do.

"Now, the rooms," he rumbles, reading aloud the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.

[ooc: This post is open for everyone to tag in and meet their new roommates and neighbors, "party post" style! Everyone should participate if and when they can, so they can get acquainted with who they will be rooming with for at least the next several months. Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is an OOC post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions and where we'll post more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there! If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP.]

Re: Room # 0723 - Andros and Steve Rogers

Andros looked around the room. He wasn't looking forward to having a roommate. Hopefully they'd have some kind of separate rooms with a shared common space. He wasn't the most social kind of person and the idea of living with someone wasn't pleasant. It was downright scary. Andros had never had to share a room with someone before. And he valued his privacy, and person space.

Still, he ventured around. Might as well introduce himself.

"Hello?"

Steve looks up from the desk he had been poking around in one of the empty rooms, and cranes his neck to look out into the common area.

"Hey! Just a minute," he calls, stuffing his bag under the desk, making sure it's out of sight. He positions the small chair in front of it, and trots out into the common room. "You must be Andros?"

Steve's a big guy, over six feet with broad shoulders and arms that could crush walnuts. He could be intimidating, if not for the friendly expression he wears on his face and his approachable nature. He holds out a hand. "I'm Steve. Steve Rogers."

Andros by now knew enough to shake the hand instead of run away or attack the man. He held out his hand and took the others, shaking it.

"I am. It's nice to meet you." That was the appropriate comment, right? Andros glanced quickly at his wrists and then remembered he had vanished his morpher in place for his communicator. Much less inconspicuous to....be wearing a watch with no watch face. Sure.

stark_spangled: ([Casual] Understood that one)

It's not hard to catch the discomfort off the guy. Steve's grown up reading people, knowing which ones are gonna pull a punch and which a bat, and he figures everyone aboard is probably going through something similar. This whole situation isn't ideal. Steve lives alone.

He still smiles, gives a firm shake and a respectful nod, says "nice to meet you, too," and pretends like his eyes don't follow when Andros glances at his wrists. Steve knows what a wristwatch looks like, and they usually tell time.

"So I guess we're stuck with each other," he says, going for something light. He smiles crookedly, and rubs the back of his neck. "It's been a few years since I've had a roommate. But, uh, I'm tidy and mostly keep to myself. If you hear any loud noises, I just ... like to exercise."

And for a guy who can bench 2k pounds, sometimes he gets carried away.

"I don't mind exercise, that's fine. I tend to be pretty quiet, clean, and I've never had a roommate." But at least this guy didn't get Zhane. He was much more friendly but lived like a pig. When you lose your morpher under piles of clothing it's time to pick up.

Andros likewise pretends not to notice that Steve noticed his glance. "What did you do before your unexpected trip here? I was.....I guess the only way you can describe it is special forces."

Although he was 99% sure that special forces didn't have giant zords, but, hey it was close right? Right?

Close enough. Steve's eyebrows tic in recognition; either this guy was going to work out ideally, or things were going to get complicated for them both. He hasn't been purposely keeping Captain America a secret, but it's not the way he identifies himself unless he's dealing with a crisis.

"Really? I had a special contract with the US government myself," he nods. "Though, currently my direct employment isn't affiliated with any government."

Or so they say. S.H.I.E.L.D. likes to keep its secrets, but who it's in bed with isn't one they're particularly good at keeping. The answer is: everyone. Steve was an army hero, a World War II captain, and Captain America; the United States wasn't exactly about to give him up, but they could put him on loan with an organization they had large stock in.

He smiles lopsidedly. "I wonder if the people here knew what they were doing when they put us together."

I'm a horrible person! I'm sorry !

[personal profile] awol_redranger 2014-07-22 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really? I'm...separate from the government as well." Well, Earth's government anyway. The Space Rangers were part of the Kerovan military, although they thankfully had chosen to not forceably recall him.

"If they know our backgrounds, that's...a bit disconcerting." He liked spying on people. It was a pasttime. What Andros didn't like was people spying on him. "I'm not sure I like the idea of people we don't know having such a detailed background on us." Or, well, him.

But, he was being sour, he knew. And rude. Be nice Andros. You have to live with this man."In any case, it's nice to meet someone who has...similar interests."
stark_spangled: ([Casual] Suit up)

LOL, you are the farthest thing from horrible! No worries. :)

[personal profile] stark_spangled 2014-07-23 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
If Steve's put off, he doesn't show it. In fact, he gives serious attention to what Andros is saying, nodding along slowly.

"Their computers are more advanced than anything I've seen outside of Stark Industries, but I don't think they're intuitive," he says. "Could be wrong, but from the medical exams it seems like they have to manually enter information. I don't know about you, but I haven't exactly given them my entire life's story."

Steve can be sour as well, but mostly he's just wary. The future has dulled his trust and idealism a bit. It hasn't done anything to his wit and sarcasm, on the other hand. He smiles lopsidedly, and nods. "Yeah, it is. Nice to meet you, I mean. I, uh, wouldn't mind having someone I can compare notes with."

Because if Andros is the kind of guy Steve thinks he is, then he's been keeping an eye on this place, too.

Andros was rather concerned that the Enterprise crew's comm badges could be used as two way listening devices. Did they have cameras too? Or were the hallways monitored instead? He couldn't fathom the idea of a space ship that wasn't wall to wall cameras.

"My own universe has technology like this, although my ship is a bit smaller. The doctor I saw did have to input information but, who's to say they would have the information to begin with? What if it's on another computer or separate AI? I find it hard to believe they would put us together by accident."

Andros was such a trusting person. If he thought it would make a difference, he'd scan the room for bugs.
stark_spangled: ([Uniform] Never too sure)

[personal profile] stark_spangled 2014-07-27 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
Steve doesn't have much room to talk. When he appeared in Ten Forward, his first thought was Asgard, his second was psychological hallucinogens, and his third was the suspicion his own organization was trying to mess with him. Sometimes, he swears the only reason he works with SHIELD is because Peggy helped found it.

"So you think our situation was orchestrated by more than just a malevolent outside force?" he asks, rubbing his chin. "What universe do you come from?"

He can't believe he actually has to ask that question.
awol_redranger: (Default)

[personal profile] awol_redranger 2014-07-29 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't discount the idea that an outside force is working with the current crew here. Or that multiple outside forces are working together. "

Andros wasn't the most trusting person. Having people continuously trying to kill you would do that to a person. "What universe do I come from? Well, I can tell you it's not this one. If we have a star chart I could point out the features similar. Do you think that would help?"
stark_spangled: ([Uniform] It's heavier than it looks)

[personal profile] stark_spangled 2014-07-30 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
He nods slowly.

"In my, uh, universe, there are a few organizations I can think of who could pull off something like this," he says, brow beetled. "I come from a version of Earth where people are just now figuring out we're not alone in the universe, and the other guys out there don't always play nice."

He doesn't get the feeling he and Andros come from the same place, but if there's a common thread between them it's something to work from, at least. "Have you ever heard of the Bifröst? Asgard? Chitauri? A device called a Tesseract?" Beat. "S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
awol_redranger: (Default)

[personal profile] awol_redranger 2014-08-04 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm from a space colony, KO-35. It's in the Kerova system. But I know Earth well. They've also figured out they're not alone, and chances are the other guys also don't play nice. But, no, I haven't heard of any of those places. How about Onyx? Eltar? Triforia or Aquitar?"

Andros figured it was a long shot. It didn't seem like they were from the same universe, but there still could be some crossover, some similarity between the two. It was possible, but unlikely.
stark_spangled: ([Uniform] Never too sure)

[personal profile] stark_spangled 2014-08-16 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve purses his lips, giving it all due thought before he slowly shakes his head.

"No, nothing sounds familiar," he says, a little disappointed in the admission. There are, of course, many more things it could be, but those five were his best chance of drawing a direct parallel between Andros and himself. He smiles lopsidedly. "I guess that rules out a common theme between our points of origin. At least for now."

He runs his hand through his hair, and stands akimbo. "Still, whether we were put together by accident or not, between the two of us maybe we can figure out a way to get everyone home."
awol_redranger: (Default)

[personal profile] awol_redranger 2014-08-17 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"And how do you propose we do that?" Andros didn't want to be a downer, but they had very little equipment and supplies and he was pretty sure this Captain wasn't just going to hand over secure information on their locations. At least, Andros wouldn't in his position.

"We should get to know our surroundings first, I think, before we make any judgements. We might have been put together by chance." Andros didn't think so, but it was possible.
stark_spangled: ([Army dress] Come again?)

[personal profile] stark_spangled 2014-08-18 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Steve smirks.

"I'll let you know when I figure that out," he says. He may be the Star-spangled Man with a Plan, but he's working with a whole new set of parameters; confidence and attention to detail aren't enough for a fully-fledged game plan just yet. "But I was thinking the same thing. We're going to be stuck here for a while, so we might as well be on each other's side. There's a lot of ship to cover for just one person."

If there's anyone he's going to divide and conquer with, it's Natasha. But Andros and he share a level of privacy here. He'll share his notes on what he finds out, if Andros does the same.
