[Ten Forward] Release from Quarantine and Rooming Assignments

Lieutenant Worf has gathered all of the new "guests" together in Ten Forward to instruct them on correct behavior and protocols now that they have been released from quarantine. He looks as happy and approachable as you might expect, which is to say he doesn't. It is his duty, and the captain's instructions, and so he will handle this riffraff the honorable way.

"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits."

This is chased by a stern look to all the gathered guests.

"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.

"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do."

He takes a deep breath. Unless they show themselves to be undisciplined or unruly, it is the most he can do.

"Now, the rooms," he rumbles, reading aloud the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

"I will remain here to answer questions," Worf concludes. "And my team will be standing by to escort you where you need to be."

"Hi, I'm Pyrrha, and this is Egil. Looks like we're roomies, huh."

Well, she's used to sharing space with people. Grew up in a big family, and then spent a long time basically couch-surfing--she can get by anywhere.

"I hope you don't mind kids. Or pets."

"Not at all. I love them." Pets and kids were pretty much the same thing to her. Along with plants. Trance just liked life, it honestly didn't matter if you were a dung beetle, a rooster or an infant.

"And you don't have to worry about waking me up or anything--I don't sleep that much."

"Egil's kind of a fox sometimes, but don't worry, he's house-trained. He won't, like, sneak into your room and pee in your shoes. I knew somebody who had a dog that used to do that, a really spiteful little dog. Egil's really sweet. He doesn't."

Totally normal conversations to have with somebody you've just met.

"We should maybe figure out how good the sound insulation is here. I like listening to music, and I don't want to bother you with it."

"I don't mind at all. Don't worry about me. The noise wont bother me at all. The plants might like it. You are alright with plants right? Any allergies?" Since she could fix that. As soon as she got some medical nanos.

"I'm sure everything will be just fine. " Honestly, it was like giving a room to a plant. Trance wasn't sure what she was supposed to do with it besides grow things. That's what she did on the Andromeda anyway.

"I don't mind plants--I mean, I'm not a gardener or anything, but as long as I'm not responsible for taking care of them, 'cause I don't have the best track record there. Oh, and as long as they're not poisonous. I don't think Egil would try eating anything, but I don't know. He might try to taste something. Neither of us is allergic as far as I know, though."

She's a city girl. Plants are mysterious things, to her.

"Plants are easy. I'll do all the care. You just enjoy them. Most plants that aren't culinary will give someone a stomach ache, but i doubt they'll be poisonous. I'll try to keep them up somewhere high. "

"...do you grow the culinary ones?" she asks. "Like, vegetables and herbs and things? We were gonna have a garden in Italy and grow tomatoes and peppers and stuff, but never had the chance. If you're gonna cook, fresh ingredients are the best. Uh, not that we can really cook here--do they have actual kitchens anywhere? Do we have to go down to the holodeck and make an imaginary kitchen? That would be weird."

"No, I don't cook. I don't really eat that much either. Cooking's not really my thing. It's kind of hard don't you think?" Brain surgery was one thing, cooking was something completely different.

"I love cooking," she says. "I didn't usually have a place to stay, back home--not a permanent one, anyway. So I'd find people to take me in for a bit, and I'd usually earn my keep by cooking for them. Everybody's got to eat, almost everybody anyway. It was an easy thing for me to do, and I enjoy it, and I'm good at it. But everything seems to be automated here."
