[Ten Forward] Release from Quarantine and Rooming Assignments
Lieutenant Worf has gathered all of the new "guests" together in Ten Forward to instruct them on correct behavior and protocols now that they have been released from quarantine. He looks as happy and approachable as you might expect, which is to say he doesn't. It is his duty, and the captain's instructions, and so he will handle this riffraff the honorable way.
"The computer will instruct you on where all cleared-for-access decks are. You only have to ask where the area you are trying to get to is located, and it will give you clear directions. Do not visit any restricted areas. The bridge, engine rooms, transporter rooms, and all command centers are off-limits."
This is chased by a stern look to all the gathered guests.
"With that in mind, there are a few rules you must obey before I give you your new assignments. One, do not discharge any weapon while on the Enterprise. Two, do not assault any other passenger aboard in any way; that includes injury, death, or violating their personal rights. Three, do not tamper with the operational procedures of the ship. Four, do not steal items or technology from the ship. Five, do not interrupt any official areas of the ship without proper authorization, and do not invade the privacy of other guest or crew quarters.
"Copies of the Prime Directive will be made available to all of you, and placed in each room. As you are not Starfleet officers, you are not obligated to abide by this rule; however, it is important you understand why we do."
He takes a deep breath. Unless they show themselves to be undisciplined or unruly, it is the most he can do.
"Now, the rooms," he rumbles, reading aloud the list of quarters, their location, and the guests who will be sharing them.

The list is also displayed on a PADD, where people can refer to it if they need to.
[ooc: This post is open for everyone to tag in and meet their new roommates and neighbors, "party post" style! Everyone should participate if and when they can, so they can get acquainted with who they will be rooming with for at least the next several months. Rooms are aligned the way they would be in a typical hotel: odd numbers on the left, even numbers on the right (so 0711 and 0713 will be next door neighbors, while 0712 is directly across the hall). There is an OOC post in the OOC comm where players can connect with questions and where we'll post more details about the rooms themselves, so check in over there! If you need to ask security questions, or need them to swing by another thread, just put "Security officer, please!" in the subject line of your tag, and the mods will send someone to you ASAP.]

He waves a hand in front of him. "No! No! You've got the completely wrong idea. We're detectives, we work cases together."
no subject
"Oi, all right! Take it easy," she says, matching his volume. "Nothin' to be ashamed of. Next time, be more specific."
She glances over his shoulder to get a look in the room he vacated, then starts hunting for the door to her own room. Once she's got a lock on it, she walks away. She does talk to him over her shoulder as she goes, though.
"What kind of detectives are you? Do you work with the police, or do you find lost cats and that sort of thing?" she asks.
no subject
He reached up to fidget with his necktie knot. Honestly, how could anyone get that idea?
no subject
Not much fazes her. On the other hand, she can see that Shotaro is still a little unsettled about her mistake. Uh-huh, so she hit a nerve.
She pops into the bedroom and has a look about. It's not anything special. Strange bed (single-level, that'll be a change after the bunkbeds on the TARDIS), locker, desk, chair. It could use some personality. Not that she plans on being here that long.
"So what's that mean?" she calls out to him. "'Trickier'?"
no subject
no subject
She pokes her head out of the room, giving him yet another long, hard look.
"Monsters," she repeats, half-question and half-statement.
no subject

"For someone who just got their arse kicked by a door, you're awfully cheeky. Do I look worried to you?" she asks.
She doesn't.
"Space is my territory. Space and time; I travel, and part of what I do is fight monsters," she says, crossing her arms. "So what do you mean by 'things that can't be done by normal humans'? Are you some kind of alien?"
no subject
He crossed his arms. "Bold words, Amy." He was impressed tht she could say that so easily. "No, I'm normal myself, but I have some enhanced tools of the detective's trade to keep my city from crying." And by how he said that, he meant it sincerely. "We call them Dopants. They're normal people under the influence of devices called Gaia Memories."
no subject
Whatever you say, Shotaro. Next time she'll take video. The whole ordeal with the door seems to be a precursor of weirdness to come, though.
"Well, I guess I'm just a bold woman," she sasses him, leaning against the doorway. "So it's like mind control, is it? These 'Gaia Memories'? Oldest trick in the book. Why send armies when you can turn people into slaves?"
Been there, seen that, even bought the t-shirt. Must be back on the TARDIS, then.
no subject
Nevermind that he himself relied on similar devices for his own power. Fighting fire with fire, and all.
"And you? What kind of place did you come from? Before you and your husband started honeymooning across the universe."
no subject
She looks rather cross for a moment, but it fades into nonchalance.
"England. Leadworth. That's where I grew up," she says, pushing off from the door to start exploring more of the common area. "Till a big blue police box landed in the garden."
no subject
no subject
She picks up a bobble of some sort. It's clear and kind of plasticine, with a platform for something. She can't figure out what exactly it is, so she sets it down and keeps moving.
"And out of the big blue police box came a man called The Doctor," she goes on. "Who's an alien from another time and place. He goes on adventures helping people all across the universe, and I go with him."
Life hasn't been quite the same since.
no subject
But every place was different. "He sounds kind of cool." He rubbed his chin a bit and closed his eyes as if he were writing some kind of fantasy in his head. Because he was.
no subject
"The Doctor is not cool," she says, shaking her head.
Imagine it. He'd be chuffed to hear someone say so, anyway. And maybe the look on Amy's face belies her words a little. She is fond, all else aside.
"He has a name, but he doesn't tell anyone what it is. Not even me. Everyone knows The Doctor, though. He gets around," she continues.
no subject
no subject
"Both," she says.
And that's that.
"Oi, if you're goin' to sleep you have your own room for that now," she adds.
Oh no is that icon from the episode I think it is? ;.;
"Have you ever met a race called the Q before?" He had to try, at least. Even if the universe was impossibly huge, if this guy was as much of a meddler as he thought he was, it could be possible.
If you're thinking The Girl Who Waited, then yes. >_>
There's some kind of plant on a table. Looks a bit like an orchid, which she feels compelled to reach out and tap. It waves at her almost mockingly.
"I bet the Doctor knows who they are," she adds. "He's been at this a lot longer than I have. But, he's not here."
Grumble.
"Annoyingly."
oh no I was thinking The Angels Take Manhattan
Very similar moments indeed!
She pauses, and gives Shotaro a sharp look.
"Just so we're clear, the Doctor's nothing like that, all right?"
Re: Very similar moments indeed!

That out of the way, she isn't really sure how to begin describing him. She trails a finger along a table as she walks, a little lost in thought.
"He gives you choices most of the time, and when he doesn't he's got this daft notion he's protecting you. Sometimes he tries chasin' you off, pretending like he prefers to be alone, but he doesn't. He needs people. They help keep him ... human. And he doesn't mess with people's lives, he helps them. Fixes whatever's gone wrong, so they can go on."
'So is this how it works, Doctor? You never interfere in the affairs of other peoples or planets, unless there's children crying?'
'Yes.'
She smiles at the memory.
