[Sickbay]: Round Three scans and vaccines

New guests have arrived on the Enterprise, and that means Lieutenant Worf and his security detail are busy once again bringing them to see Dr. Crusher. Sickbay is fairly typical for a hospital. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones.

As for the staff, they're all well-groomed and friendly. As a matter of fact, all personnel look harmless. Well, perhaps excluding the sun avatar, but Trance Gemini is as skilled as the Starfleet officers.

"All right, come in," one of them calls out as you enter. "Don't be shy. It's just a scan and a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

Probably.

[ooc: Same rules as before: this is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Julian Bashir, Trance Gemini, and Rory Williams on deck, so please specify in the subject line of your tag who you would like. Beverly Crusher can be available if needed, but the player may not always be available. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your intro yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

(Nietzschean medical info!)

Telemachus was, what he considered to be, a more enlightened Nietzschean. At least compared to say, his roommate Tyr. They didn't exactly see eye to eye, even though they held the same post on Andromeda. And of course, Rhade was a commissioned officer.

"So who might you be, that you know so much about Nietzscheans? Your computers database just points me to the Great Philosopher upon inquiry. Someone's been talking."

Rhade helpfully held out his arm. "Test me. I'm immune. Don't waste your time."

And you're modest, too.

"Trance and I have gotten to know each other, and I was speaking with Captain Hunt earlier," Julian says by way of explanation. "And since you asked, I'm Doctor Julian Bashir."

Julian offers him a bit of a look. "To most everything in your universe, I'm sure. But since we've encountered different species and therefore different pathogens, we'd rather not chance that you catch something here."

Nevermind anything that may be dormant in his system, which Julian isn't going to bring up. But there's a reason viruses and bacterium are the truly dominant forms of life pretty much anywhere.

He takes a medical scan quickly enough, he's efficient about his work, thanks.

"Ahhh. You've been talking to Dylan." And Telemachus promptly gave Julian a mock salute. "Our esteemed leader and defender of the helpless. He's contagious you know. Might want to see if you can do something about that. Before he leads us all to our deaths." Rhade looked at the doctor. He wasn't exactly wide eyed and bushy-tailed but compared to himself he really was a ray of sunlight. Bright and cheery.

"And I suppose you're not going to let me out of here until you do. Am I correct?" While Telemachus wasn't exactly falling down drunk, he was a bit tipsy.

"I don't know, he struck me as very nice. Concerned about his people's well-being and all. It's an excellent trait in a commanding officer." Julian hadn't exactly had experience with more than Captain Sisko, and Commander Worf when he was in the captain's chair of the Defiant, but the former at least was...well, if he put a word to it, fatherly. Almost. Someone you certainly didn't want to cross, but was willing to put himself out on his crew's behalf.

"I could, but you'd be put straight back into quarantine, and no one wants that." The security detail least of all.

Julian can smell the alcohol on his breath, he can't exactly discern how drunk he was, but it's enough to be noticeable.

"Oh yes, Dylan is nice to the entire universe. That's part of the problem. Being nice to everyone in a universe that wants to kill you isn't a wise thing to do. Eventually, it will come back and bite you in the ass. I just don't like it being my ass."

Still, Telemachus sat down obediently on the bed. "Fine. I'll consent.Do your worst." Truth be told he was caught between wanting the vaccines which would help him survive and wanting to show the universe just how awesome his Nietzschean genes were.

"I've always thought the universe doesn't particularly want to kill anyone. That would imply it cared about any of us." Really, they were all just tiny flecks of light and life in a wider plane of existence. If you thought the universe was out to get you, that was classic paranoid thinking in his professional opinion.

"Don't worry, I don't bite." Julian logs his scans--he's done plenty of them today, it doesn't take long--and then preps a hypospray with the antibiotic and vaccine they've been giving everyone that day.

"The universe has teeth. Trust me, you don't want to meet it in a dark ally. And it does bite."

He hadn't been there when the Andromeda had met the World Ship the First time, but he was familiar with Harper's reaction to Magog. That was fear. Beyond fear. Something innate and primal, trying to claw its way to the surface irregardless of the damage caused.

"The universe does actually want to kill you. At least mine does." Unfortunately for Julian, Rhade meant this rather literally. That's what happened when a universe was alive.
