[Sickbay]: Round One scans and vaccines

[ Captain's Log: a Meeting with the Senior Staff. Wherein Picard discusses what to do with their new, er. "Guests." ]

As you enter sickbay tonight, escorted there by Lieutenant Worf and his security detail, you may notice it isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. No masks, no rubber gloves. The most dangerous thing about her is that maternal look in her eyes; the one that scolds you for not doing your homework, or leaving your dirty dishes in your room.

The crew makes no promises for Dr. McCoy, on the other hand. He isn't one of ours. You should probably watch your neck.

"All right, don't be shy," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Come in and sit down. It's just a scan and maybe a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

Probably.

[ooc: This is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Bones McCoy and Beverly Crusher (NPC) on deck, so if you'd prefer one over the other just specify it in your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

His goal was to be as cooperative as possible, and he had every intention of doing just that. Until that first question came out of Leonard's mouth. His mouth opens as though he were prepared to answer until what he said actually clicked.

"If you're wondering if I could have gotten everyone here just--POW!" he made a kind of bursting motion with his hands. "You're way wrong! I'm a detective, I fight on the side of justice. I would never do something like that. --Even if I could, which is ridiculous." He was quick to add that last sentence.

He tended to make eye contact with Leonard, but that device in his hand was a little distracting. "What's that?"

Leonard narrowed his eyes at him.

"No, I wasn't. I doubt whomever the hell brought us here would queue up in line to get a damn exam. They probably have better damn things to do with their time."

Though now he was a little suspicious, but it wasn't his job to play who's who. He was a doctor, not a detective, as this man was. But now that it was established that he probably shouldn't start the exams with that question, he needed to calm the guy down.

"It's a medical scanner. It'll tell me if you're injured or not."

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-23 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, even if that probably didn't do what he wanted it to do, it got him off the subject. For now, anyway. But he didn't have anything to say to Leonard's first comment, deciding to safely move away from that particular topic.

"This is like out of a movie..." This from the guy whose cell phone looks like a stag beetle. "But I could have told you that. I had to rough up some punks causing trouble in my beautiful city the other day." He shrugged and showed him his knuckles. They were scraped and healing normally, though. "They might have gotten one or two good hits in before I finally chased them off. I've dealt with worse, though."

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-23 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Leonard scanned him anyway, hovering the device a bit over the man's skin for readings. What popped back matched pretty clear to that.

"I can fix those with a dermal regenerator before we get started with the bioscan."

It was an offer.

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-23 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
He shrugged. "It doesn't bother me. It's kind of like a badge of courage, don't you think?" He was curious about the technology, but bloodied knuckles was part of the cost of defending people, and he didn't want to make that cheap.

"Are we done then?"
shut_up_dammit: (Neutral // Well He's Not Dead Jim)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-24 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure. Little suffering's good for the soul." Badge of courage, not his thing, but everyone had their little things.

Leonard scoffed, reading popping back on the scanner. "Not even close." Everything seemed to come back normal, so he let it go, placing the scanner side. "Lay down for me. The bed'll give me a full read up, then we'll see about getting you out of here."
tanteiotaku: (putting it together1)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-25 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
He was at least obedient enough that he laid down without an argument. He did wiggle around a little to do something important, like lay his tie back out straight. "Just give me a warning before you come at me with any needles."
shut_up_dammit: (Neutral // Staring at the Guy)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-25 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, you'll get a warning." He did not need people freaking out in the sickbay, thank you. He would get a full warning before he started sticking him with hypos.

The readings kicked back. Everything seemed normal enough except for the energy section. It was reading a little strangely. His eyes narrowed on it, waiting to see if it would change to a normal rate or not.

"What's your name?"
tanteiotaku: (clear to see)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-25 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't like that look on the Doctor's face, but he kept his cool. Maybe he'd picked up on the same thing the other doctor had with Philip. "Shotaro Hidari," he supplied without a problem. He moved his arms up so they were behind his head, as if he hadn't thing to worry about at all.

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-26 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
The readings didn't change. Leonard's lips tightened together for a moment before he sighed and picked up another device.

"Well, sit up for me, Shotaro. One more reading and a couple questions, then you can go." He paused, flicking his eyes down at the device for a moment, then back to the kid. He held up a small blue pad of sorts. "I'm going to have to place this on your face. Is that going to be a problem?"

Hey, it was a legitimate concern. He didn't want people freaking out.
tanteiotaku: (looking over)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-26 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
He sat up as he was told. "Not a problem at all." He raked his hair backward over the top of his head so it wasn't in the way. Wherever that was headed. He didn't even speculate to himself about what it was, because he had nothing to really work from.

"Is there something wrong?" A reasonable enough question, really. This guy was fairly easy to read to a certain extent.
shut_up_dammit: (Working // Collecting Data)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-26 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Leonard decided to wait to put the pad on until after he'd answered the question and gotten the response.

"Your energy reading came back a little strange. Haven't seen anything like it. This'll give me a better read out of what it is, gives me a better understanding of what it is. Not a big deal, doesn't look like something that'll trigger and kill anyone, I just have to log it and ask a few questions if it can't give me all the information I need."
tanteiotaku: (I'm going to look like I'm thinking but)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-26 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. That was Double all right. He didn't like practically lying to this guy. It made him feel a little scummy. But he still didn't quite have a handle on the people here. If trouble broke out, he didn't want to lose the element of surprise.

"Energy, huh? I guess the winds of Fuuto followed me into space." He shrugged.
shut_up_dammit: (Working // Looking Over This Seriously)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-28 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, sure." Leonard put the pad on the guy's face and checked the reading screen. The frequency was consistent, low enough to look harmless. Although the rest of his readings showed up human, this one came up a little different.

"This kind of reading normal where you're from?" He took the pad off the guy's face. Maybe some people were different in other worlds, just in the slightest degree. Human evolution and all that.
tanteiotaku: (I has a tiny thing)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-28 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was easy. "How am I supposed to know? Nothing like this exists where I come from." He gestured around him at the room. Well, that was true. The way he'd phrased the question had left things wide open.
shut_up_dammit: (Neutral // Permission to Speak Freely)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-28 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Good point. "Alright, you have any weird abilities I need to know about?" Yeah, there, better question.
tanteiotaku: (yo c'mere)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-28 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
He brought a hand up in a 'don't know' kind of gesture. "I'm very good at finding lost animals?" And that was the best Bones was going to get. He more or less trusted that the captain wasn't going to do anything rash. The other assorted members of the crew were another story.
shut_up_dammit: (Working // Collecting Data)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-28 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly not. Leonard picked up the PADD nearby and took notes. Unusual, consistent energy reading to be compared to others brought into the sickbay. Claims no abilities. No evidence of abilities found. Energy reading normal from his world?

"Alright. Gotta give you a hypospray then you can go." He picked up a small tube thing with a liquid inside. "It's like a shot. It'll catch you up on all the vaccines you're missing. It'll sting for a minute, but then you should be fine. Unless you have an allergy to medications of any kind."
tanteiotaku: (Default)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-28 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Good, this was almost over. "None at all." He really does feel bad about lying, but he just can't bring himself to be up-front yet.
shut_up_dammit: (Working // Here's the Hypo!)

[personal profile] shut_up_dammit 2014-05-28 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good." Here, have this hypospray. He wasn't kidding about the sting by the way. It'll hurt for a moment, but that moment, it hurts. A lot. Thing's not painless.

Once he's done, he sets the empty hypo aside.

"You're free to go."
tanteiotaku: (so breezy)

[personal profile] tanteiotaku 2014-05-28 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
He flinches and lets out a very not-hard-boiled yelp. While he could deal with a little pain, that caught him by surprise. He rubs the spot while he hopped back off the bed. "Thanks, Doc." He crouched to gather up his effects. He tipped his hat to McCoy before he put it back on. "Good luck with everyone else."

He'd find someplace less crowded than sickbay to put his vest back on in case anything got loose. And he had to find Philip.
