[Sickbay]: Round One scans and vaccines

[ Captain's Log: a Meeting with the Senior Staff. Wherein Picard discusses what to do with their new, er. "Guests." ]

As you enter sickbay tonight, escorted there by Lieutenant Worf and his security detail, you may notice it isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. No masks, no rubber gloves. The most dangerous thing about her is that maternal look in her eyes; the one that scolds you for not doing your homework, or leaving your dirty dishes in your room.

The crew makes no promises for Dr. McCoy, on the other hand. He isn't one of ours. You should probably watch your neck.

"All right, don't be shy," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Come in and sit down. It's just a scan and maybe a hypospray, nothing to worry about."

Probably.

[ooc: This is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Bones McCoy and Beverly Crusher (NPC) on deck, so if you'd prefer one over the other just specify it in your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

It wasn't often Trance was on the other side of the scanner. She wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Or what they would make of her. The last time she had been poked and prodded with medical instruments it had been the equivalent of torture and the scientist had been trying to figure out how to kill her. Spoiler: he couldn't. Andromeda hadn't been that scientific about her lack of vitals. She got shot. She died. She got better. Dylan had tried to give them the equivalent of a microchip but for some reason Trance's had never worked. Gee, wonder why.

So, it was with an ounce of trepidation that Trance entered the room and sat down. This would be interesting.

Shyness isn't the problem, precisely. Ever since under-going Project: Rebirth, Steph hasn't been seen by a doctor who wasn't certified and verified by her own personal commanding officer. It's been pointed out to her, over and over through the years, that her body itself is a state secret and she is obligated, as a soldier of the United States, to protect that secret at any cost.

So why did she willingly walk into medical on an unknown captain's order?

Well. Basically? Because she's talked to too many people to think she can slip under the radar properly. Better to try reason first.

(force after, maybe)

For now, there is a young, very tall woman peeking into medical, jeans and a t-shirt and a ponytail making her feel distinctly dressed-down in the presence of so many uniforms. But with only her shield bag to turn to, Steph's choices for outfits are either blue jeans or the red-white-and-blue.

Jeans will have to do.

Shotaro didn't really have anything to worry about, or so he thought it. He'd never been really sick, and unless there was something about the Double transformation he didn't know about, (and to be honest, that was a distinct possibility) he didn't think that would be a problem either. Shroud never did explain much about that.

But, it was best to not look suspicious, so when he was next in line, he shrugged off his vest and folded it up, tucking the stag phone and Bat shot inside of it so his pockets were empty. When he got called over, he had a spring in his step as he crossed over to the guy's table. He ducked down to set the lump down on the floor beside the bed and plunked his hat on top of it. Finally, he hopped up onto the side of the bed. "Tell me what you need, Doc."

Adam wasn't so sure about that "hypospray" but if all this was was a scan... well, the sooner the better. He shared a look with Billy, sighing heavily. He was never one for doctors, honestly. Back when he was a child, it was all about the bullies. While as a Ranger, if his parents ever saw he as hurt from a battle, he usually could get away with it by saying it was during sparring but sometimes they tried to get him to go to the doctor.

And doctors can usually tell where an injury comes from and he wasn't going to try and explain that (it already sounded like he was covering up for being bullied again when bullies weren't a problem anymore).

"I'll go first, if you want," He offered.

Andros knew this wasn't going to be a big deal. Normally. DECA and Alpha had run tons of scans on him over the years. This, judging by the look of their sickbay, was similar enough. The only problem? Billy and Adam seemed to still be keeping Zordon's secrecy rule. And morphing energy could be measured. He only hoped they didn't have the capability to measure it or understand what it meant. Or he could try and brush anything off as classified. But the other two rangers didn't have that to fall back on. They had no military training. Like his team, they were students. It wasn't a great cover when you had to sneak into your house after falling off your zord.

Still, Andros took a seat, doing his best to look relaxed and professional.

"It's been a while since I was scanned by someone I didn't know." He finally admitted. This person wasn't DECA, Alpha or one of his teammates.

(and here's the records for Andros)

Billy would probably be more nervous if he had the faintest idea what was coming. Really, the most intimidating aspect is the security escort, and they've given the doctors some room for now.

So he's fairly relaxed when it's his turn---though he's still rather concerned with posture. "Nothing to worry about, right?"

Philip has never been to a doctor before, and no lookup on how doctor's offices worked back home can really prepare him for whatever was to come in sickbay. He's sure it was simple routine, but he has no idea what they'll find. Although his body looks and feels human enough, it's impossible to predict what sorts of things this ship's futuristic technology can detect.

He arrives at about the same time as Shotaro -- at Shotaro's insistence -- and though he tries not to look it, he's clearly nervous. He picks at his lip as he waits for his turn.

Things Natasha is not particularly happy about: strange doctors and enforced examinations.

Things she does not exactly have a choice about: the above.

So it's a somewhat tense agent who presents herself at the sickbay, the only clue being her neutral expression and just easy she's holding herself (all the better with which to lunge into movement.)

Still, there's been a little progress: she's left her gauntlets with Clint, and is entirely unarmed.

One of the children on the Enterprise is most definitely avoid sickbay. And she will continue to do so for as long as she possibly can, darting away from the queue anytime one of the security detail takes eyes off her.

But sooner or later she gets corralled, and that is why you will now have one very antsy eight-year-old waiting to be scanned. She really hopes this will not involve much more than a few cursory questions.

Aeryn is not fond of this whole idea. Not the mandatory physical part.

She's had a lifetime of those. Regulations, rules and order followed as expected.
But this is an enforced order. This is all of them being rounded up like potential hazards.

This is not nearly long enough since the events with NamTar and Pilot that she'd even grown comfortable with Zhaan's entreating her that they should track her recovery. It was unnecessary. She was fine. She'd said it enough times before. Even if she's standing there, waiting, nowhere near at ease and still armed, being watched by their security officer due to John joking about her temperament, before he was distracted by something on the other side of the room. Another impossibly familiar thing from this place he knew.

She's fine. She is. Counting slow and steady in her head, not blinking too many times in a row.
Which has nothing to do with why she's noticing that she still can't hear anything from this ship, too.

Did somebody mention John being somewhere off across the room from where Aeryn is getting her checkup? Yeah, about that. You see, there are computers in this room. Computers with glorious, luminous, beautimous LCARS displays. Aaaaaand in technicolor.

Someone should probably sit his ass down before the giggling turns into touching.

Steve has reported to a lot of medical facilities in his day. Before Project Rebirth, it was all anyone could do to keep him alive. After Project Rebirth, well. He was the only link to Dr. Erskine's success, and a curiosity on top of it all. He's had his fill of needles and treadmills and endless questioning.

But when the captain of the ship you're on tells you to report to sickbay, you report to sickbay. Steve doesn't want any trouble, and anyway, he can understand their concerns. Just as long as they remain concerns, and not some elaborate scheme to take him or the people he's met here out.

If anybody tries to draw blood, they're the ones who are going to be subjected to an endless stream of questions. And a stubborn refusal to cooperate.

Ian wasn't worried. Despite coming from the 1960s and having been around in space and time, thus giving him the chance to catch anything, he was fit and healthy. While he was waiting for his turn he was more interested in the monitors and went and poked at one of them.

Sharon's in excellent health and tiptop shape, and she really, truly, dislikes needles from people she doesn't have a file on, but there's not a lot of leeway to be had here, so she makes her way to the Sick Bay, and puts on her best Kate Newton I'm-a-nurse smile.

"Hi. I'm here for the physical...?"

Hey, Bones, there's a peppy young lady with bouncing curls and a bouncier skirt headed your way, with a step that's anything but wishy-washy and a wide grin on her face.

"Reportin' for my check-up, doc," she says, cheerfully, rounding on him. "Let's get this show on the road, huh?"

There's a cowboy slouching into sick bay, blue eyes darting hunted glances beneath his hastily flattened hair, hat held to his chest while he keeps his back to the wall.

He hasn't had a smoke since he showed up here, and he's feeling cranky and jittery as hell, but it ain't like he can avoid it.

No matter how much he hates doctors.

Someone's looking forward to getting checked out.

Well, he hasn't been to a doctor in forever--hasn't needed to, hasn't had a physical body, and anyway he can heal himself. So this is a new thing, and that means it'll be fun. Probably.

He's actually not drunk. It only seems that way, between last night's smudged makeup, the feather boa he'd acquired somewhere, and how happy he looks about the whole situation.

"Let's do this thing."

Less enthusiastic than her husband (but less likely to embarrass anybody, especially herself) is Sigyn.

This is what they've been told to do, so here she is. Getting to experience things firsthand, instead of just hearing Loki's stories about the world.

Why, she might even get to experience some things before he does. Won't that be a change.

Here's a girl with a baby.

Pyrrha doesn't like doctors; she never has. But for Egil's sake--well, she doesn't want him getting some kind of weird space-disease, and if he's getting vaccinated or whatever it is they do, she should probably get it too.

"It's okay, puppy," she says. "They're just gonna take a look at us, and then we can go get some ice cream."

It's not exactly the most comfortable feeling, going in for a medical exam when you know what the results will be: that you're not human, not organic, not technically even alive.

She might be able to get out of this discomfort by just saying what she is, but she doesn't want to be thought of as less than. So all she can do is glance over to Butch now and then for reassurance, and hope the doctor is discreet.

Butch has nothing to worry about.

Well, besides probably a whole raft of germs and parasites and things he doesn't even know about--sanitation hasn't always been the greatest, places he's lived in. When you're out on the trail and there's a stream or lake that looks clean enough, you drink from it.

But he wouldn't mind having any of that cleared up. Hypospray away.

Going to the doctor may not be Booker's favorite thing to do, but he's done this before. It's a military ship, right? He'd gotten checked out by military doctors when he'd enlisted, years ago.

You strip down, they make sure you've got all your limbs, they check your feet, they check your nether regions, they check your height and weight and teeth. If you're intact and you look healthy enough, you're cleared to go.

Which is why he's unbuttoning his jacket as he walks in.

Hey, maybe they'll be able to find that old bullet.

No.

No.

Eleanor does not want to do this. She doesn't want to be poked and prodded and turned into a science experiment again. Not again.

She takes one step into the room, arms around herself like she can will her symbiote into being invisible to whatever equipment they use here.

This could get bad.

This gal's still new here, just trying to adjust to all the hubbub and oddness going on. She's been lucky enough to run into some folk she recognizes, but everything else is confusing and strange. So let's just say she wasn't the happiest outlaw ever when some officer said she needed to see their doctors. It ain't like she's bleeding anywhere.

There's a cowgirl at your left, McCoy, all wild blonde hair and sharp blue eyes. She's left her hat behind — it ain't polite wearing it indoors — but you'd have to be a real sweet talker to get her to give up the guns on her hips. Don't be fooled — she may only be cresting 5'1, but she could do you a turn if she chose.

So be a gentleman.
