[Sickbay]: Round One scans and vaccines

As you enter sickbay tonight, escorted there by Lieutenant Worf and his security detail, you may notice it isn't all that unusual. There are no terrifying devices or humming machines you could see in a sci-fi thriller. The biobeds along the walls are equipped with biofunction monitors, but look fairly standard. Instead of silver trays filled with metal tools and sawblades, there are an array of small devices that look as harmless as cell phones. As for Chief Medical Officer Crusher herself, she's well-groomed and kindly, wearing her teal uniform and a blue coat. No masks, no rubber gloves. The most dangerous thing about her is that maternal look in her eyes; the one that scolds you for not doing your homework, or leaving your dirty dishes in your room.
The crew makes no promises for Dr. McCoy, on the other hand. He isn't one of ours. You should probably watch your neck.
"All right, don't be shy," Dr. Crusher calls out as you enter. "Come in and sit down. It's just a scan and maybe a hypospray, nothing to worry about."
Probably.
[ooc: This is an open log for everybody. Tagging isn't mandatory, but going to sickbay is. So if you'd prefer to skip threading with one of our doctors, you can handwave that your character got a clean bill of health and a shot and were sent on their merry way. For those who are tagging, we have Bones McCoy and Beverly Crusher (NPC) on deck, so if you'd prefer one over the other just specify it in your tag. If you would like more details about sickbay, here's the wiki page. If you haven't made your OP yet, you can assume the doctors will want to see your character shortly after they arrive.]

Leonard scoffed. "You caught that too, huh?" Pause. "The captain's got a lot on his plate right now. Doesn't want any of us on board, I'm sure. Maybe he'll turn around if we end up staying too long."
Not likely.
Leonard held up the medical scanner. "This is going to hover over your skin and give me a reading. It won't hurt. And if it does, you can tell me to stop, okay?"
no subject
Which was just a gross insult, really. But she's not going into that right now. She just nods at the medical scanner, and stills from where she'd been squirming. "Okay."
Just so he's warned, those readings will be very, very weird.
no subject
He gave a gentle nod and hovered the device over her face. It took a couple of seconds, but the reading did come through. No physical injuries, but there were some weird readings. He'd need the more direct one to figure out what the was - the thing that pops onto the face. He pulled the scanner away and picked up the facial pad.
"This one's going to actually touch your face. Are you okay with that?"
no subject
The scanner doesn't give her a headache, thankfully, but the readings are very odd; such is the nature of telepathy and the way her brain is wired, as it were. It throws readings off everywhere.
When he mentions that facial pad Sinthia looks up at him with a very wary look. "Not...really? Do I have to?" she asks, not liking the look of the pad and liking even less the idea that it's got to touch her. The last time she was put in a machine it hurt more than she can accurately describe.
no subject
"Yeah, it won't hurt. Won't even take long."
no subject
"Fine." But she's not going to like it, make no mistake, Leonard.
no subject
"Atta girl."
He placed the sensor on her face and flashed his eyes from Sinthia to the reading screen and back. He was more concerned with what she would do than what the readings would give him, quite frankly.
no subject
The readings are...disconcerting, to say the least; it's plain that the abilities she has she didn't get naturally. At all.
"Leonard, get it off my face."
no subject
"Are you okay?"
His full attention is on her now. Forget the logging. If he had to finish the biobed portion later, he'd explain the situation to Dr. Crusher and get Sinthia to come in later, but he hoped it wouldn't come to that.
no subject
She sighs, looking at the screen over his shoulder. "Is it beeping like that because of me?"
no subject
He dropped his hand to the biobed and shook his head gently. "Nah, it's 'cause I disconnected it too soon. I got a read out, just not a complete one. It'll be enough. We don't have to do it again."
no subject
"What didn't it get? I can tell you how things work, just...as long as you don't have to use that thing again." Fair warning, if he does, it's likely to get clawed off her face and crushed, and that would be awkward to explain.
no subject
Then he gave her a smile. "No more scanners on your face. The bed'll take care of the rest and all you have to do is lay down."
no subject
no subject
He gave her a gentle smile before looking at the readings screen, making annotations as quickly as he could. He didn't want to make Sinthia lay down there longer than she had to.

"Alright, you can sit up. We're done. Healthy, just like you said."
no subject
no subject
"No, sweetheart, why would I be angry about that?"
